TRECHT, June 26. Yefterday a fire broke out at Hilverfum, a village two leagues and a half from hence, in the houfe of a jew, who was employed in melting tallow; and in a very few hours the flames destroyed 300 houfes, or buildings, among others the great church. The da mage is fuppofed to be upwards of 600,000 florins.

Hague, July 1c. Yesterday his ferene highnefs the Prince Stadtholder took poffethion of the dignities of governor, captain-general and admiral general, of the province of

Utrecht.

Paris, June 13. It is affured that his fe rene highnets the hereditary prince of Brunfwick, who, by his own great talents in the art of war, knows, how to fet a true value upon thofe of the Marthal Duke de Broglio, of which he was fo often a witness, has not a little contributed to his obtaining the penfion of 30,00D livres, which the king has lately granted him.

Paris, June 20. The hereditary prince of Bruntwick-Wolfenbuttle took leave of their majefties and their royal family yesterday: His highness will fet out immediately to vifit the principal cities of Italy.

Verlailles. June 25. The hereditary prince of Brunswick let out the day before yefterday for Italy.

Verfailles, June 25. M. De Buffy, who during the latt torty years had been fent o feveral courts in public characters, particularly to that of Great-Britain, has obtained leave of the king to retire. His majesty has granted him a penfion of 21,000 livres.

Paris, July 4. The king has published a declaration, by which persons who profels the pretended reformed religion, are forbid to alienate their effects without the king's permittion.

Paris, July 15. The Chambers of the parliament met this day on account of the refufal of facraments which has been made in feveral diocetes, agreeable to the spirit of the acts of the clergy. The district of Chauny, which has been very active in inforcing the execution of the arret of the parliament against thofe acts, has been refufed conreffion, upon which the grand vicar of Noyon, and two curates, have been taken into custody. Our archbishop has tately fufpended feveral more priefs.

Madrid, June 13. The king has ordered the Junto, called the Abeftos, which furnished previfion for this capital, to be abolifhed; which decree having been communicated to the people by the Cunt d'Aranda, prefident of the council, of Caftile, they have nominated deputies to lay at his majefty's feet the most humble and thankful acknowledgements, with which they are penetrated, by this generous and magnanimous act of his clemency and justice.

Madrid June 24. The queens mother is fo dangerously ill, that the facraments were administred to her laft Thurfday. The king has ordered prayers in all the churches of the kingdom for imploring her recovery.

Lisbon, June 1o. In confequence of an order from the king, all boys who are found out of fervice, or deftitute of employment are fent to the arsenal, where they will be kept to work for eight years, and the profits of their labours are to go to the crown. After the expiration of their time will be fet at liberty, and may then exercile the trade they have learnt during their fervitude.

Ratisbon, June 26. The affair of the fuffrage of Oinabrug, which has long put a ftop to the deliberations of the diet, is at length fettled, between the Baron de Gem. ningen on the part of the electoral court of Hanover, and the Baron de Karg on the part of the grand chapter of Ofnabrug, under the mediation of the minifters reprefenta tives of the empire.

Hamburgh, June 27.

Next week the

electoral chamber of Hanover will restore to the re going duke of Mecklenburgh Schwerin the deftricts of Gammelin, Wittenburgh Zahrendien, and Mecklemburgh, of which the electoral house has been in poflection, to indemnify itself for military execution during the inteftine troubles under the government of Duke Charles

On the 22d

past, between five and fix in the morning, was felt here a violent shock of an earthquake which lafted, fomething more than a minute, It did very little damage in the fuburbs of Pera and Galata, but a great deal in Constantinople. Four royal mofques fuffered, the firft at the gate of Adrianople, the cupola of which fell, and the walls were damaged : The fecond, that of Sultan Mahomet II. the cupola of which fell; as did likewife the publick school, in which above 100 ftudents perished: That of Mahomet Bashaw, was hurt only the external part: The fourth, that of Sultan Achmet, a Minaret of which fell down They reckon 173 imall ofques, and baths, partly entirely ruined, and partly damaged. Several chans or publick inns were deftroyed; fome palaces of Turks and many houfes. The walls of this capital are fo much hurt, that it is calculated that it will coft above 100,000 piaftresto repair them. About 80 perfons have been found buried under the rains; befides a great number of maimed and wounded. There were damages done in the fetaglio. The grand fignior lived under tents for fome days. Two of the feven towers tell; and the reft were hurt. Some imali damage is faid alfo to have been done at Adrianople. Many flight tremors have been telt fince; and fome two or three days ago

Vienna, July 9. The lat letters from Conftantinople, which are dated the 16th of June, cont in more lamentations than the preceding ones. They advife, that fince the 22d of May, there have been almost daily fome fhocks of an earthquake, more or less violent; but that on the 10th of last month, one happened equal to that of the 224 of May; and overthrew feveral edifices that had been fhattered before: It lasted from nine to ten feconds; and was followed on the 14th by another as violent, at the time the fultan was at the mofque, where the confufion Occasioned by the terror of it was very great.
