Ask and ye shall receive. If ye ask anything according to his will, he heareth you.

St. John xiv. 13 and xvi. 23, 24.

EVENING.

The kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the Gospel.

St. Mark i. 15.

God commandeth all men everywhere to repent.

Acts xvii. 30.

Godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation, not to be repented of.

2 Cor. vii. 10.

Repent, and turn yourselves from all your transgressions; so iniquity shall not be your ruin.

Ezek. xviii. 30.

I will arise and go to my Father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee,

And am no more worthy to be called thy son.

St. Luke xv. 18, 19.

If any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:

And he is the propitiation for our sins.

I write unto you, little children, because your sins are forgiven for his Name's sake.

1 John ii. 1, 2, 12.

JANUARY 30.

MORNING.

Seek ye the Lord while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near :

Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.

For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord.

For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.

For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater:

So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

EVENING.

Isai. lv. 6-11.

And he spake this parable unto them, saying, What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it? And when he hath found it, he layeth it on his shoulders rejoicing. And when he cometh home, he calleth together his friends and neighbours, saying unto them, Rejoice with me: for I have found my sheep which was lost. I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons which need no repentance. Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God, over one sinner that repenteth.

St. Luke xv. 3-10.

If we confess our sins, God is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

1 John i. 9.

JANUARY 31.

MORNING.

Who is a liar, but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and Son.

Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father but he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also.

Let that therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from the beginning. If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father.

And this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life.

And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming.

EVENING.

1 John ii. 3-25, 28.

Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.

He that committed sin is of the devil: for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.

For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another.

Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.

This is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment.

1 John iii. 7-23.

FEBRUARY 1.

MORNING.

But of that day (Christ's second coming) and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels in heaven, but my Father only. But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and knew not till the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

Then shall two be in the field: the one shall be taken and the other left. Two women shall be grinding at the mill the one shall be taken and the other left. Watch therefore; for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.

But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched and would not have suffered his house to be broken up. Therefore be ye also ready for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.

EVENING.

St. Matt. xxiv. 36-44.

Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom. And five of them were wise and
