43 And Joshua returned, and all Israel with him, unto the camp to Gilgal. CHAP. XI.

AND it came to pafs, when Jabin king of Hazor had heard thofe things, that he fent to Jobab king of Madon, and to the king of Shimron, and to the king of Achthaph,

2 And to the kings that were on the north of the mountains, and of the plains 31 And Joshua paffed from Libnah, and fouth of Chinneroth, and in the valley, all Ifrael with him, unto Lachish, and en-fand in the borders of Dor, on the west, camped againfl it, and fought against it: 32 And the LORD delivered Lachish into the hand of Ifrael, which took it on the second day, and fmete it with the edge of the fword, and all the fouls that were therein, according to all that he Kad done to Libnah.

33 Then Horam king of Gezer came up to help Lachith; and Jofhua Imote him and his people, until he had left him none remaining

34 And from Lachith Joshua paffed unto Eglon, and all Ifrael with nim; and they encamped against it, and fought against it: 35 And they took it on that day, and Anote it with the edge of the fword, and all the fouls that were therein he utterly deftroyed that day, according to all that he had done to Lachish.

36 And Joshua went up from Eglon, and all Ifrael with him, unto Hebron ; and they fought against it:

37 And they took it, and fmote it with the edge of the word, and the king thereof, and all the cities thereof and all) the fouls that were therein; he left none remaining, according to all that he had

3 And to the Canaanite on the east and on the weit, and to the Amorite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, and the Jebuite in the mountains, and to the Hivite under Hermon in the land of Mizpeh.

And they went out, they and all their hofts with them, much people, even as the fand that is upon the fea thore in multitude, with horses and chariots very many.

5 And when all thefe kings were met together, they came and pitched together at the waters of Merom, to fight againft Ifrael.

6 And the LORD faid unto Joshua, Be not afraid becaufe of them for tomor row about this time will I deliver them up all flain before Ifrael: thou thalt hough their horfes, and burn their chariots with fire.

7 So Joshua came, and all the people of war with him, against them by the waters of Merom fuddenly; and they fell upon them

8 And the LORD delivered them into the hand of Ifrael, who fmote them, and chafed them unto great Zidon, and unto Mitrephothmaim,

Mifrephothmaim, and unto the valley of Mizpeh eastward, and they fmote them, until they left them none remaining.

9 And Joshua did unto them as the LORD bade him: hehoughed their horfes, and burned their chariots with fire.

10. And Jofhua at that time turned back, and took Hazor, and fmote the king thereof with the fword: for Hazor before time was the head of all thofe kingdoms.

11 And they fmote all the fouls that were therein with the edge of the fword, utterly deftroying them there was not any left to breathe: and he burned Hazor with fire.

12 And all the cities of thofe kings, and all the kings of them did Joshua take, and finote them with the edge of the fword, and he utterly deftroyed them, as Mofes the fervant of the LORD commanded.

13 But as for the cities that flood ftill in their strength, Ifrael burned none of them, fave Hazor only; that did Jothua burn.

14 And all the spoil of thefe cities, and the cattle, the children of Ifrael took for a prey unto themfelves; but every man they fmote with the edge of the fword, until they had deftroyed them, neither left they any to breathe.

23 So Jofhua took the whole land, according to all that the LORD faid unto Mofes; and Jofhua gave it for an inheritance unto Ifrael according to their divisions by their tribes. And the land refled from war.

CHAP. XII.

1 The two kings whofe countries Mofes took and difpofed of. 7 The one and thirty kings on the other fide Jordan which Jafbua mote

NOW thefe are the kings of the land, which the children of Ifrael fmote, and polletfed their land on the other fide Jordan towards the rising of the fun, from the river Arnon unto mount Hermon,and all the plain on the eaft:

2 Sihon king of the Amorites who dwelt in Hefhbon, and ruled from Aroer, which is upon the bank of the river Arnon, and from the middle of the river, and from half Gilead, even unto the river Jabbok, which is the border of the children of Ammon;

5 And from the plain to the fea of Chin. neroth on the eat and unto the fea of the plain, even the falt fea on the eaft, the way to Bethjefhimoth; and from the fouth, under Áthdothpifgah.

15 As the LORD commanded Mofes 4 And the coaft of Og king of Bafhan, his fervant, fo did Mofes command Joth-which was of the remnant of the giants, ua, and fo did Jofhua; he left nothing that dwelt at Ahtaroth and at Edrei, undone of all that the LORD commanded 5 And reigned in mount Hermon, and Moles. in Salcah, and in all Bashan, unto the border of the Gefhurites, and the Maachjathites, and half Gilead, the border of Sihon king of Hehbon

16 So Joshua took all that land, the hills, and all the fouth country, and all the land of Goshen, and the valley, and the plain, and the mountain of Ifrael, and the valley of the fame ;

17 Even from the mount Halak, that goeth up to Seir, even unto Baalgad in the valley of Lebanon under mount Hermon and all their kings he took, and, fmote them, and flew them.

18 Jo'hua made war a long time with all thofe kings

6 Them did Mofes the fervant of the LORD and the children of Ifrael fmite : and Mofes the fervant of the LORD gave it for a poffellion unto the Reubenites, and the Gadites, and the half tribe of Manaffeh.

7 And thefe are the kings of the country, which Joshua and the children of Ifrael fmote on this fide Jordan on the : 19 There was not a city that made peace weft, from Baalgad in the valley of Lebwith the children of Ifrael. fave the Hiv-anon, even unto the mount Halak, that ites the inhabitants of Gibeon: all other they took in battle

20 For it was of the LORD to harden their hearts, that they should come against Ifrael in battle, that he might deftroy them utterly, and that they might have no favour, but that he might deftroy then, as the LORD commanded Mofes. 21 And at that time came Joshua and, cut off the Anakims from the mountains, from Hebron, from Debir, from Anab, and from all the mountains of Judah,and from all the mountains of Ifrael: Joshua defroyed them utterly with their cities.

18 And Jahaza, and Kedemoth, and Mephaath,

26 And from Hefhbon unto Ramathmizpeh, and Betonim; and from Mahanaim unto the border of Debir;

27 And in the valley, Betharam, and Bethnimrah, and Succoth, and Zaphon, the rest of the kingdom of Sihon king of Hefhbon, Jordanand bis border, even unto the edge of the fea of Chinnereth on the other fide Jordan eastward.

28 This is the inheritance of the children of Gad after their families, the cities and their villages.

29 And Mofes gave inheritance unto the half tribe of Manaffeh: and this was the poffeffion of the half tribe of the children of Manaffeh by their families.

$0 And their coaft was from Mahanaim, all Bathan, all the kingdom of Og king of Bathan, and all the towns of Jair, which are in Bahan, threefcore cities:

31 And half Gilead, and Afhtaroth, and Edrei, cities of the kingdom of Og in Bafhan, were pertaining unto the children of Machir, the fon of Manaffeh, even to the one half of the children of Machir by their families.

32 Thele are the countries which Mofes did diftribute to inheritance in the plains of Moab, on the other fide Jordan, by Jericho eastward.

35 But unto the tribe of Levi. Mofes gave not any inheritance: the LORD God of Ifrael was their inheritance, as he faid unto them.

CHAP. XIV.

1 The nine tribes and an half are to have their inheritance by lot. 6 Caleb by privilege obtaineth Hebron.

Forty years old was I when Mofes the fervant of the LORD fent me from Kadeshbarnea to efpy out the land; and I brought him word again as it was in mine heart.

8 Nevertheless, my brethren that went up with me made the heart of the people melt but I wholly followed the LORD my God.

9 And Mofes fware on that day, faying, Surely the land whereon thy feet have trodden fhall be thine inheritance, and thy children's for ever, because thou haft wholly followed the LORD my God.

10 And now, behold the LORD hath kept me alive, as he faid, thefe forty and five years, even fince the LORD fpake this word unto Mofes, while the children of Ifrael wandered in the wilderness: and now, lo, I am this day fourscore and five years old.

11 As yet I am as ftrong this day as I was in the day that Mofes fent me: as ny ftrength was then, even fo is my ftrength now, for war, both to go out and to come in.

12 Now therefore, give me this mountain, whereof the LORD fpake in that day; for thou hearedit in that day how the Anakins were there, and that the cities were great and fenced; if fo be,the LORD will be with me, then I shall be able to drive them out, as the LORD faid.

18 And Joshua bleffed him, and gave unto Caleb the fon of Jephunneh Hebron for an inheritance.

14 fiebron therefore became the inheritance of Caleb the fon of Jephunneh the Kenezite unto this day, because that he wholly followed the LORD God of Ifrael.

CHAP. XV.

The borders of the lot of Judah. 13 Caleb's portion and conqueft. 16 Othniel's valour and reward. 21 The cities of Judah. 63 The Jebufites not conquered. THIS then was the lot of the tribe of the children of Judah by their families: even to the border of Edom, the wildernets of Zin fouthward was the uttermoft part of the fouth coast.

2 And their fouth border was from the fhore of the falt fea, from the bay that looketh fouthward :
