PSALMS.

All people that on earth do dwell
Arise, and let thine anger, Lord
Arise, O God, and here possess
Arise, ye people, clap the hand

As pants the hart for cooling streams

Before Jehovah's awful throne
Blessed is he who ne'er hath lent

Bless, Lord, with long and prosp❜rous life
By morning-light I'll seek his face

Come, worship at his sacred throne

[merged small][ocr errors][ocr errors][merged small]

Give to the Lord, ye sons of men
God is our King; his countless powers
Great God, from thine exhaustless store
Great is the Lord, and with great praise

Happy is he who Jacob's God
Happy the man whose tender care
Have mercy, Lord, on me

Hear me from heaven, and to my prayer
Help, mighty Lord, for none I see
Here, Lord, by thy divine command
His goodness and his truth

How bless'd, O Lord, are they who keep
How blest the lot of those, how sweet
How blest who from the Lord has gain'd
How good and pleasant too it is
How long wilt thou be angry, Lord?
How long wilt thou forget to hear?

How matchless is thy form, O King!

How various, Lord, thy works are found

I call to mind thy works, O Lord
In Judah is th' Almighty known
I strive each action to approve
Judge and defend my cause, O Lord
Judge me, O Lord, for I the paths

Let all on earth come forth and see
Let all the just to God with joy
Lift up your heads, eternal gates

Lord, for thy wondrous power and love
Lord, in thy wrath reprove me not
Lord, thou art good, nor only good
Lord, thou hast granted to our sins
Lord, to thy servants in distress
Lord, who's the happy man that may

Man is like grass, though fresh and fair
Me, howsoe'er distress'd and poor
My soul, inspir'd with sacred love

O come, loud anthems let us sing
O God, my gracious God, to thee
O God, my heart is fix'd, 'tis bent
O God, my strength and fortitude
O God of hosts! the mighty Lord
O God our Lord, on earth how great
O God, who hast our strength dispers'd

[subsumed][subsumed][ocr errors][subsumed][subsumed][subsumed][merged small][merged small][subsumed][subsumed][merged small][subsumed]

O Lord, to thee my cries ascend
On thee I wait; 'tis on thy strength
O praise the Lord in that bless'd place
O praise the Lord with one consent
O render thanks to God above

Our days fast hastening to an end
Our ears have heard our fathers tell
Our souls with patience wait

Plead thou, O Lord, my righteous cause
Praise, O praise the name divine
Praise ye the Lord; our God to praise

Save me, O Lord, by thy great name
Since I have plac'd my trust in God
Sing praise to God; in lofty hymns
Sing to our Lord a new-made song
Sing to the Lord a new-made song
Stand ye in awe before the Lord
Stranger to virtue from the womb

Teach me, O Lord, how frail I am

That man is bless'd who stands in awe
Thee I'll extol, my God and King
The heavens declare thy glory, Lord
The King, O Lord, with songs of praise
The Lord hath spoke; the mighty God
The Lord himself, the mighty Lord
The Lord is our defence and aid
The Lord my pasture shall prepare
The Lord of glory is my light
The Lord to thy request attend
The spacious firmament on high
Thine is the day, O Lord, and thine
This day is God's: let all the land

Thou art, O Lord, my strength and stay
Though wicked men grow rich and great
Thou Israel's Shepherd, Joseph's Guide
Thou, Lord, by strictest search hast known
Thou, Lord, hast brought my soul from hell

Thon, O great God, art my defence
Thrice happy is that people's case
Through all the changing scenes of life
Thy chastening wrath, O Lord, restrain
Thy constant care, O Lord, did guard
Thy mercy, Lord, our steadfast hope
Thy might, thy praises, Lord! which we
Thy will, great Father, I obey
To bless thy chosen race

To celebrate thy praise, O Lord
To God our never-failing strength
To God's Anointed shall the isles
To God, the mighty Lord

To my just plea and sad complaint
To Sion's hill I lift my eyes

To thee, O God, we render praise

Vain is the boast, and vain the dream

What tho' with secrecy and care
Whene'er, O God, I ask thy aid
When we God's counsel have defied
With deadly sorrows compass'd round
With glory clad, with strength array'd
Who can thy mercies, Lord, recount
Whom, Lord, in heaven, but thee alone
Whoso hath God his guardian made
Why boastest thou, O lawless man
Why doth the Lord stand off so far

Ye boundless realms of joy

Ye people, make the Lord your trust
Ye saints and servants of the Lord
Ye worshippers of Jacob's God
