10. PICTURESQUE EXCURSIONS in DEVONSHIRE and CORNWALL: embellished with numerous

highly-finished Etchings, descriptive of the most interesting Views, from Drawings made on the spot. By T. H. WILLIAMS. Nos. I. and II. elegantly printed in large 8vo. price 7s. each. The Third Number of this Work will be published early in the Summer.

11. A SELECTION OF ANTIQUE GEMS, engraved in the Manner of Chalk, from Drawings by R. DAGLEY, NOS. I. and II. 4to. price 5s. each.

The first Number is embellished by Four Plates: A Gem of a Jupiter Agiochus,—a sublime head; a Clio, or Muse of History, reading a scroll,-one of the most exquisite figures of antiquity; a Psyche with a Cupid beckoning to her, from the celebrated Gem in the invaluable collection of Mr. Townley, and a chef d'œuvre of the graphic art. The fourth Plate contains five fragments and attributes of Jupiter.

The Second Number contains the complete story of Cupid and Psyche, accompanied by the same number of plates, all illustrative of this ancient and charming tale. The copious commentary on the Romance is particularly entertaining.

The MONTHLY MAGAZINE for August concludes its observations on this publication, in the following

terms:

"The whole work has extremely gratified us, and no lover of the fine arts will look on it with indifference. Considered with respect to its literary composition, its typographical beauty, and its numerous and rich embellishments, it may be said to be the most moderate in price ever published in this country."

** Three additional Numbers, which complete a Volume or First Part of the Work, are in such a state of

forwardness, that they will not fail to appear on or before the First of May.

The Literary Department of the Work has been confided to the care of several Amateurs who have continued their researches in the same popular manner as in the preceding Numbers. The Introduction is continued to the Grecian era. The descriptions of the Gems are copious, and contain various dissertations illustrating the philosophy, the history, and the manners of the ancients, with critical observations on art.
