1. Hear, O sinner! mer - cy hails you; Now with sweet-est voice she calls;
2 Haste, O sinner, to the Saviour! Seek his mercy while you may; Soon the day of grace is over; Soon your life will pass away: Haste, O sinner!
You must perish if you stay.
1 SINNERS, Will you scorn the message, Coming from the courts above? Mercy beams in every passage; Every line is full of love; Oh! believe it, Every line is full of love.
2 Now, the heralds of salvation,
Joyful news from heaven proclaim: Sinners freed from condemnation, Through the all-atoning Lamb! Life receiving Through the all-atoning Lamb. 3 O ye angels, hovering round us, Waiting spirits, speed your way;
Haste ye to the court of heaven, Tidings bear without delay : Rebel sinners
Glad the message will obey. 290.
1 COME, ye sinners, poor and wretched, This is your accepted hour: Jesus ready stands to save you, Full of pity, love, and power: He is able,
He is willing; doubt no more. 2 Agonizing in the garden,
Lo! the Saviour prostrate lies; On the bloody tree behold him! Hear him cry before he dies, "It is finished !"
Sinners, will not this suffice? 3 Lo! th' incarnate God ascended Pleads the merit of his blood; Venture on him, venture wholly, Let no other trust intrude: None but Jesus
Can do helpless sinners good.
1 COME to Calvary's holy mountain, Sinners, ruined by the fall! Here a pure and healing fountain Flows to you, to me, to all,- In a full, perpetual tide, Opened when our Saviour died. 2 Come, in sorrow and contrition,
Wounded, impotent, and blind! Here the guilty, free remission,
Here the troubled, peace may find; Health this fountain will restore, He that drinks shall thirst no more- 3 He that drinks shall live forever;
'Tis a soul-renewing flood: God is faithful; God will never
Break his covenant in blood, Signed when our Redeemer died, Sealed when he was glorified. 292.
1 WHEN I view my Saviour bleeding, For my sins, upon the tree; Oh! how wondrous!-how exceeding Great his love appears to me! Floods of deep distress and anguish, To impede his labors, came; Yet they all could not extinguish Love's eternal, burning flame. 2 Now redemption is completed, Full salvation is procured: Death and Satan are defeated, By the sufferings he endured.
Now the gracious Mediator,
Risen to the courts of bliss, Claims for me, a sinful creature, Pardon, righteousness, and peace.
3 Sure such infinite affection
Lays the highest claims to mine; All my powers, without exception, Should in fervent praises join. Jesus, fit me for thy service; Form me for thyself alone; I am thy most costly purchase; Take possession of thine own.
1 COME, ye souls by sin afflicted, Bowed with fruitless sorrow down, By the perfect law convicted, Through the cross behold the crown; Look to Jesus; Mercy flows through him alone.
2 Take his easy yoke, and wear it; Love will make obedience sweet; Christ will give you strength to bear it, While his wisdom guides your feet Safe to glory,
Where his ransomed captives meet. 3 Sweet as home to pilgrims weary, Light to newly-opened eyes; Or full springs in deserts dreary, Is the rest the cross supplies;
All who taste it Shall to rest immortal rise.
? Just as I am, without one plea, But that thy blood was shed for me, And that thou bid'st me come to thee, O Lamb of God, I come! I come! Just as I am, and waiting not To rid my soul of one dark blot, To thee whose blood can cleanse each spot, O Lamb of God, I come! I come! 3 Just as I am, though tossed about With many a conflict, many a doubt, Fightings within, and fears without, O Lamb of God, I come! I come! 4 Just as I am-poor, wretched, blind; Sight, riches, healing of the mind, Yea, all I need, in thee to find, O Lamb of God, I come! I come! 5 Just as I'am-thou wilt receive, Wilt welcome, pardon, cleanse, relieve; Because thy promise I believe, O Lamb of God, I come! I come! 6 Just as I am-thy love unknown Hath broken every barrier down; Now, to be thine, yea, thine alone, O Lamb of God, I come! I come! 295.
1 WITH tearful eyes I look around; Life seems a dark and stormy sea; Yet, 'mid the gloom, I hear a sound, A heavenly whisper, "Come to me."
2 It tells me of a place of rest; It tells me where my soul may flec: Oh, to the weary, faint, oppressed, How sweet the bidding, "Come to me!" 3 "Come, for all else must fail and die; Earth is no resting-place for thee; To heaven direct thy weeping eye, I am thy portion; Come to me." 4 O voice of mercy! voice of love! In conflict, grief, and agony, Support me, cheer me from above! And gently whisper, "Come to me."
1 Gop of my life! thy boundless grace, Chose, pardoned, and adopted me; My rest, my home, my dwelling-place; Father! I come, I come to thee. 2 Jesus, my hope, my rock, my shield! Whose precious blood was shed for me, Into thy hands my soul I yield; Saviour! I come, I come to thee.
3 Spirit of glory and of God!
Long hast thou deigned my guide to be; Now be thy comfort sweet bestowed; My God! I come, I come to thec. 4 I come to join that countless host Who praise thy name unceasingly; Blest Father, Son, and Holy Ghost! My God! I come, I come to thee.
3 Far off I stand with tearful eyes, Nor dare uplift them to the skies But thou dost all my anguish see: O God, be merciful to me!
4 Nor alms, nor deeds that I have done Can for a single sin atone; To Calvary alone I flec: O God, be merciful to me!
5 And when redeemed from sin and hell, With all the ransomed throng I dwell, My raptured song shall ever be, God has been merciful to me!
1 My sufferings all to thee are known, Tempted in every point like me; Regard my grief, regard thine own: Jesus, remember Calvary!
2 For whom didst thou the cross endure? Who nailed thy body to the tree? Did not thy death my life procure! Oh! let thy mercy answer me.
4 Thou wilt not break a bruiséd reed, Or quench the smallest spark of grace, Till through the soul thy power is spread, Thy all-victorious righteousness.
5 The day of small and feeble things, I know thou never wilt despise;
I know, with healing in his wings, The Sun of Righteousness shall rise.
1 HERE at thy cross, my dying Lord! I lay my soul beneath thy love, Beneath the droppings of thy blood, Jesus, nor shall it c'er remove.
2 Not all that tyrants think or say, With rage and lightning in their eyes, Nor hell shall fright my heart away, Should hell with all its legions risc.
3 Should worlds conspire to drive me thence,
Moveless and firm this heart should lie; Resolved, for that's my last defence, If I must perish, there to die.
4 But speak, my Lord, and calm my fear; Am I not safe beneath thy shade? Thy vengeance will not strike me here, Nor Satan dare my soul invade.
3 Art thou not touched with human woe? 5 Yes, I'm secure beneath thy blood,
Hath pity left the Son of Man?
Dost thou not all my sorrows know, And claim a share in all my pain?
And all my foes shall lose their aim; Hosanna to my dying Lord,
And my best honors to his name.
