Copyright 1906 PREFATORY NOTE For the purpose of discussing some of the important problems connected with the recent development of higher commercial education a conference was held at Ann Arbor, Michigan, in 1903 under the auspices of the Michigan Political Science Association. The success of this conference led to the suggestion on the part of those who participated in it, that other conferences be held from time to time for the purpose of discussing some of the new questions which were bound to come up in regard to different phases of commercial education. It was thought well, therefore, to hold a second conference on the general subject, at the University of Illinois, in connection with the exercises of the installation of Dr. Edmund J. James as President of the University. The conference met and held four sessions, according to the program below.
