The Ifraelites go out of Egypt.

Chap. xiv.
84 And thou fhalt fhew thy fon in that
day, laying, This is done because of that
with the LORD did unto me, when I came
forth out of Egypt.

9 And it thall be for a fign unto thee upon
thine hand, and for a memorial between
thine eyes; that the LORDS law may be in
thy mouth: for with a strong hand hath the
LORD brought thee out of Egypt.

10 Thou halt therefore keep this ordinance in his feafon from year to year.

11 And it fhall be when the LORD fhall bring thee into the land of the Canaanites, as he fware unto thee, and to thy fathers, and hall give it thee.

12 That thou shalt fet apart unto the LORD all that openeth the matrix: and every briting that cometh of a beaft, which thou haft, the males fhall be the LORD.

13 And every firstling of an afs thou shalt redeem with a lamb; and if thou wilt not redeem it, then thou shalt break his neck: and all the first-born of man amongst thy children thalt thou redeem.

14 And it thall be when thy fon asketh thee in time to come, faying, What this? that thou shalt fay unto him, By ftrength of hind the LORD brought us out from Egypt, from the houfe of bondage.

15 And it came to pass when Pharaoh I would hardly let us go, that the LORD flew all the firit-born in the land of Egypt, both the frat-born of man, and the firit-born of beat therefore I facrifice to the LORD all that openeth the matrix, being males; but all the firit-born of my children I redzen.

16 And it shall be for a token upon thine land, and for frontlets between thine eyes: for by ftrength of hand the LORD brought us farth out of Egypt.

179 And it came to pafs, when Pharaoh had let the people go, that God led them not terugh the way of the land of the Philistines, although that was near: for God laid, Left peradventure the people repent when they fee war, and they return to Egypt.

18 But God led the people about, through the way of the wilderness of the Red fea: and the children of Ifrael went up harneffed our of the land of Egypt.

19 And Mofes took the bones of Jofeph with him: for he had ftraitly worn the children of Ifrael, faying, God will furely vifit you; and ye fall carry up my bones away hence with you.

20 And they took their journey from Sucenth, and encamped in Ethem, in the edge of the wilderness.

21 And the LORD went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light: to go by day and night.

22 He took not away the pillar of the cloud by day, nor the pillar of fire by night, from before the people.

CHAP. XIV.

Pharaoh purfueth them.

2 Speak unto the children of Ifrael, that they turn and encamp before Pi-hahiroth, between Migdol and the sea, over against Baal-zephon: before it fhall ye encamp by the fea.

3 For Pharaoh will fay of the children of Ifrael, They are entangled in the land, the wilderness hath fhut them in.

4 And I will harden Pharaohs heart, that he fhall follow after them, and I will be honored upon Pharaoh, and upon all his hoft; that the Egyptians may know that I am the LORD. And they did fo.

54 And it was told the king of Egypt, that the people fled: and the heart of Pharaoh and of his fervants was turned against the people, and they faid, Why have we done this, that we have let Ifrael go from ferving. us?

6 And he made ready his chariot, and took his people with him.

And he took fix hundred chofen chariots, and all the chariots of Egypt, and captains over every one of them.

8 And the LORD hardned the heart of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and he pursued after the children of Ifrael: and the children of Ifrael went out with an high hand.

But the Egyptians pursued after them, (all the horfes and chariots of Pharaoh, and his horsemen, and his army) and overtook. them encamping by the fea, befide Pi-hahiroth before Baal-zephon.

10 And when Pharaoh drew nigh, the children of Ifrael lift up their eyes, and behold, the Egyptians marched after them, and they were fore afraid: and the children of Ifrael cried out onto the LORD.

11 And they faid unto Mofes, Because there were no graves in Egypt, haft thou taken. us away to die in the wildernels? Wherefore haft thou dealt thus with us, to carry us forth out of Egypt?

12 I not this the word that we did tell thee in Egypt, faying, Let us alone, that we may ferve the Egyptians? For it had been better for us to ferve the Egyptians, than that we fhould die in the wilderness.

13 And Motes faid unto the people,Fear ye not, ftand ftill, and fee the falvation of the LORD, which he will fhew to you to day for the Egyptians whom ye have feen to day, ye fhalliee them again no more for ever.

14 The LORD fhall fight for you, and yefhall hold your peace.

15 9 And the LORD faid unto Mofes, Wherefore crieft thou unto me? Speak unto the children of Ifrael, that they go for

ward.

16 But lift thou up thy rod, and stretch, out thine hand over the fea, and divide it: and the children of Ifrael hall go on dry ground through the mids of the fea.

EXODUS. 194 And the angel of God, which went before the camp of firael, removed and went behind them; and the pillar of the cloud went from before their face, and stood bebind them.

20 And it came between the camp of the Egyptians and the camp of Ifrael, and it was a cloud and darkness to them, but it gave light by night to thefe: so that the one came not near the other all the night.

21 And Moles itretched out his hand over the fea, and the LORD caufed the fea to go back by a strong ear-wind all that night, and made the fea dry-land, and the waters were

divided.

22 And the children of Ifrael went into the midft of the fea upon the dry ground: and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left.

23 And the Egyptians purfued, and went in after them, to the midst of the fea, even all Pharaohs horfes, his chariots, and his horfemen.

24 And it came to pafs, that in the morning-watch, the LORD looked unto the hoft of the Egyptians, through the pillar of fire and of the cloud, and troubled the host of The Egyptians,

25 And took off their chariot-wheels, that they drave them heavily: fo that the Egy ptians faid, Let us flee from the face of If rael; for the LORD fighteth for them, a gainst the Egyptians.

26 9 And the LORD faid unto Mofes, Stretch out thine hand over the fea, that the waters may come again upon the Egyptians, upon their chariots, and upon their horfe

men.

17 And Mofes ftretched forth his hand over the fea, and the fea returned to his ftrength when the morning appeared, and the Egyptians fied against it: and the LORD over threw the Egyptians in the midst of the fea. 28 And the waters returned and covered the chariots, and the horsemen, and all the host of Pharaoh that came into the fea after them: there remained not fo much as one of them.

29 But the children of Ifrael walked upon dry land in the midst of the fea: and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left.

:

10 Thus the LORD faved Ifrael that day out of the hand of the Egyptians and Ifrael faw the Egyptians dead upon the fea-fhore. 31 And Ifrael faw that great work which the LORD did upon the Egyptians and the people feared the LORD, and believed the LORD, and his fervant Mofes.

Mofer fong. 22 The people want water. 13 The bitter waters of Marah, 29 are sweet ned.

5 The depths have covered them: they fank into the bottom as a ftone.

6 Thy right hand, O LORD, is become glorious in power: thy right hand, O LORD, hath dashed in pieces the enemy.

7 And in the greatness of thine excellency thou hast overthrown them that role up against thee: thou fenteft forth thy wrath, which confumed them as ftubble.

8 And with the blatt of thy neftrils the waters were gathered together: the flouds ftood upright as an heap, and the depths were congealed in the heart of the fea.

The enemy faid, I will purfue, I will overtake, I will divide the spoil: my luft fhall be fatisfied upon them, I will draw my fword, my hand all destroy them. 10 Thou didst blow with thy wind, the fea covered them they fank as lead in the CRA mighty waters.

11 Who is like unto thee, O LORD, amongst the gods? who like thee, glorious in holinefs, fearful in praifes, doing wonders?

12 Thou ftretchedft out thy right hand the earth fwallowed them.

13 Thou in thy mercy haft led forth the people which thou haft redeemed: thou haft guided them in thy ftrength unto thy holy habitation.

14 The people fhall hear, and be afraid : forrow (hall take hold on the inhabitants of Palestina.

15 Then the dukes of Edom fhall be amazed, the mighty men of Moab, trembling fhall take hold upon them: all the inhabi tants of Canaan halt melt away.

16 Fear and dread fhall fall upon them, by the greatness of thine arm they thall be a ftill as a stone: till thy people pais over, O LORD, till the people pals over, which thou. haft purchafed.

17 Thou shalt bring them in, and plant them in the mountain of thine inheritance, in the place, O LORD, which thou haft made for thee to dwell in: in the fanctuary, O LORD which thy hands have established. 18 The LORD fhall reign for ever and ever.

19 For the horfe of Pharaoh went in with his chariots, and with his horsemen into the fea, and the LORD brought again the waters of the fea upon them: but the children of Ifrael went on dry land in the mids of the fea.

20 ¶ And Miriam the prophetess the fifter of Aaron, took a timbrel in her hand; and all the women went out after her, with timbrels and with dances.

21 And Miriam answered them, Sing ye to the horfe and his rider hath he thrown into the fea.

Then fang ones and the children, of the horse

3 The LORD is a man of war: the LORD his paine,

22 So Mofes brought Ifrael from the Red fea, and they went out into the wilderness of Shur: and they went three days in the wilderness, and found no water.

23 And when they came to Marah, they could not drink of the waters of Marah, for they were bitter: therefore the name of it was called Marah.

Chap. xvj. 24 And the people murmured against Mofes, faying, What fhall we drink?

15 And he cried unto the LORD, and the LORD fhewed him a tree, which when he had caft into the waters, the waters were made fweet: there he made for them a ftatute and an ordinance, and there he proved them.

26 And faid, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his fight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his ftatutes; I will put none of thefe difeafes upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the LORD that healeth thee.

27 And they came to Elim, where were twelve wells of water, and three core and ten palm-trees: and they encamped there by the waters.

3 And the children of Ifrael faid unto them, Would to God we had died by the band of the LORD in the land of Egypt, when we fat by the flefh-pots, and when we did eat bread to the full: for ye have brought at forth into this wilderness to kill this whole fembly with hunger.

49 Then faid the LORD unto Mofes, Bebeld, I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people hall go out and gather á certain rate every day, that I may prove them, whether they will walk in my law,

er no.

5 And it thall come to pafs, that on the firth day, they fhall prepare that which they bring in; and it fhall be twice as much as they gather daily.

21 And they gathered it every morning, every man according to his eating and when the fun waxed hot, it melted.

12 And it came to pass that on the fixth omers for one man and all the rulers of the day they gathered twice as much bread, two congregation came and told Mofes.

23 And he faid unto them, This is that which the LORD hath faid, To morrow is the reft of the holy fabbath unto the LORD: bake that which ye will bake, to day, and feethe that ye will feethe; and that which remaineth over, lay up for you to be kept unitil the morning.

Nd all the congregation of the children of Ifrael journeyed from the wilderness of Sin, after their journeys, according to the commandment of the LORD, and pitched in Rephidim: and there was no water for the people to drink.

2 Wherefore the people did chide with Mofes, and faid, Give us water that we may drink. And Mofes faid unto them, Why chide you with me? wherefore do ye tempt the LORD!

3 And the people thirfted there for water; and the people murmured against Mofes, and faid, Wherefore is this that thou hast brought s up out of Egypt, to kill us and our chil dren, and our cattel with thirst?

4 And Mofes cried unto the LORD,faying, What fhall I do unto this people? they be almost ready to stone me.

And the LORD faid unto Mofes, Go on before the people, and take with thee of che elders of Ifrael's and thy rod wherewith thou Imoteft the river, take in thine hand, and go.

6 Behold, I will stand before thee there pon the rock in Horeb, and thou halt fmite the rock, and there fhall come water out of at, that the people may drink. And Mofes did To in the fight of the elders of Ifrael.

And he called the name of the place Maffah, and Meribah, because of the chiding of the children of Ifracl, and becaufe they tempted the LORD, faying, Is the LORD among us, or not?

84 Then came Amalek, and fought with Ifrael in Rephidim.

9 And Mofes faid unto Joshua, Choofe us ut men, and go out, fight with Amalek: to morrow I will stand on the top of the hill, ith the rod of God in mine hind.

ro So Jofua did as Motes had faid to him, and fought with Amalek: and Mofes, Aaron, and Hur, went up to the top of the hill.

11 And it came to pafs when Mofes held

14 And the LORD faid unto Mofes, Write this for a memorial in a book, and rehearse it in the ears of Joshua: for I will utterly put out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven.

15 And Mofes built an altar, and called the name of it JEHOVAH-nifi.

74 And Moles went out to meet his father in law, and did obeifance, and kifled him, and they asked each other of their welfare: and they came into the tent.

8 And Mofes told his father in law all that the LORD had done unto Pharaoh, and to the Egyptians for Ifraels fake, and all the travel that had come upon them by the way, and how the LORD delivered them.

9 And Jethro rejovced for all the goodness which the LORD had done to Ifrael: whom he had delivered out of the hand of the Egyptians.

10 And Jethro faid, Bleffed be the LORD, who hath delivered you out of the hand of the Egyptions, and out of the hand of Pharach, who hath delivered the people from under the hand of the Egyptians.

11 Now I know that the LORD is greater than all gods: for in the thing wherein they dealt proudly, he was above them.

19 Hearken now unto my voice, I will give thee counfel, and God fhall be with thee: Be thee for the people to God-ward, that thou mayeft bring the caufes unto God:

23 If thou shalt do this thing, and God command thee, then thou shalt be able to endure, and all this people thall alfo go to their place in peace.

24 So Mofes hearkned to the voice of his father in law, and did all that he had faid.

25 And Mofes chofe able men out of all If rael, and made them heads over the people, rulers of thousands, rulers of hundreds, ruler of fifties, and rulers of tens.
