Adren of Ifrael inherited in the land of Canaan, which Eleazar the priest, and Joshua the fon of Nun, and the heads of the fathers of the tribes of the children of Ifrael, diftributed for inheritance unto them.

2 By lot was their inheritance, as the LORD commanded by the hand of Mofes, for the nine tribes, and for the half-tribe.

3 For Mofes had given the inheritance of two tribes and an half-tribe on the other fide Jordan: but unto the Levites he gave none Inheritance among them.

30 And their couft was from Mahanaim, all Bashan, all the kingdom of Og king of Bashan, and all the towns of Jair, which are in Bashan, threefcore cities;

4 For the children of Jofeph were two tribes, Manaffeh and Ephraim: therefore they gave no part unto the Levites in the land, fave cities to dwell in, with their fuburbs for their cattle, and for their fubftance.

5 As the LORD commanded Mofes, fo the children of Ifrael did, and they divided the land.

31 And half Gilead, and Athtaroth, and Edrei, cities of the kingdom of Og in Bathan, were pertaining unto the children of Machir the fon of Manaffeh, even to the one half of the children of Machir by their families.

32 These are the countries which Mofes did diftribute for inheritance in the plains of Moab, on the other fide Jordan by Jericho eaftward.

33 But unto the tribe of Levi Mofes gave not any inheritance: the LORD God of Ifrael sug their inheritance, as he said unto them,

HIS then was the lot of the tribe of the children as Judah by their families; even to the border of Edum; the wilderness of Zin fouthward was the uttermoft part of the fouth coaft.

2 And their fouth border was from the Thore of the falt fea, from the bay that looketh fouthward :

3 And it went out to the fouth fide to Maaleh-acrabbim, and paffed along to Zin, and afcended up on the fouth fide unto Kadeshbarnea, and paffed along to Hezron, and went up to Adar, and fetched a compafs to Karkaa:

4 From thence it paffed toward Azmon, and went out unto the river of Egypt; and the goings out of that coat were at the fea. This fhall be your fouth coaft.

5 And the caft border was the falt-fea, even unto the end of Jordan: and their border in the north quarter was from the bay of the fea, at the uttermost part of Jordan.

6 And the border went up to Beth-hoglah, and paffed along by the north of Beth-arabah; and the border went up to the tone of Bohan the fon of Reuben.

And the border went up toward Debir from the valley of Achor, and fo northward, looking toward Gilgal, that is before the go. ing up to Adummim, which is on the fouth fide of the river: and the border paffed toward the waters of En-fhemeth, and the goings out thereof were at En-rogel.

8 And the border went up by the valley of the fon of Hinnom, unto the fouth fide of the Jebusite; the fame is Jerufalem; and the bar. der went up to the top of the mountain that lieth before the valley of Hinnom weftward, which is at the end of the valley of the giants northward.

9 And the border was drawn from the top of the hill unto the fountain of the water of Nephtoah, and went out to the cities of mount Ephron; and the border was drawn to Baalah, which is Kirjath-jearim.

10 And the border compaffed from Baalah weftward unto mount Seir, and paffed along unto the fide of mount Jearim, (which is Chefalon, on the north fide, and went down to Beth-themeth, and patred on to Timnah:

II And the border went out unto the fide of Ekron northward: and the border was drawn to Shicron, and passed along to mount Baalah, and went out unto Jabneel: and the goings out of the border were at the fea.

12 And the weft border was to the great fea, and the coaft thereof. This is the coaft of the children of Judah round about according to their families.

13 And unto Caleb the fon of Jephunneh he gave a part among the children of Judah, according to the commandment of the LORD to Jothua, even the city of Arba, the father of Anak, which city is Hebron.

14 And Caleb drove thence the three fons of Anak, Shefbai, and Ahiman, and Talmai, the children of Anak.

15 And he went up thence to the inhabi tants of Debir: and the name of Debir before was Kirjath-fepher.

16 And Caleb faid, He that fmiteth Kirjath-fepher, and taketh it, to him will I give Achfah my daughter to wife.

18 And it came to pafs, as the came unto bim, that he moved him to aik of her father a field and the lighted off her als; and Ca. leb faid unto her, What wouldeft thou?

19 Who answered, Give me a bleting; for thou haft given me a fouth land, give me al fo fprings of water. And he gave her the up perfprings, and the nether fprings.

20 This is the inheritance of the tribe of the children of Judah, according to their families. 21 And the uttermoft cities of the tribe of the children of Judah, toward the coaft of Edom fouthward, were Kabzeel, and Eder, and Jagur,

22 And Kinah, and Dimonah, and Adadah, 23 And Kedefh, and Hazor, and Ithnan, 24 Ziph, and Telem, and Bealoth, 25 And Hazor, Hadattah, and Kerloth, and Hezron, which is Hazor.

26 Amam, and Shema, and Moladah, 27 And Hazar-gaddah, and Hefhmon, and Beth-palet,

28 And Hazar-fhual, and Beer-theba, and Bizjothjah,

20 Baalah, and lim, and Azem, 30 And Eltolad, and Chefil, and Hormah, 31 And Ziglag, and Madmannah, and San. fannah,

32 And Lebaoth, and Shilhim, and Ain, and Rimmon: all the cities are twenty and nine, with their villages.

33 And in the valley, Ehtaol, and Zoreak, and Athnah,

34 And Zanoah, and En-gannim, Tappuah, and Enam,

35 Jarmuth, and Adullam, Socoh, and Azekah,

36 And Sharaim, and Adithaim, and Gede rah, and Gederothaim; fourteen cities with their villages.

37 Zenan, and Hadashah, and Migdal-gad, 38 And Dilean, and Mizpeh, and Joktheel, 39 Lachith, and Bozkath, and Eglon, 40 And Cabbon, and Lahmam, and Kithlith, 41 And Gederoth, Beth-dagon, and Na mah, and Makkedah; fixteen cities with their villages.

42 Libnah, and Ether, and Athan, 43 And Jiphtah, and Athnah, and Nezib, 44 And Keilah, and Achzib, and Marethah; nine cities with their villages.

45 Ekron, with her towns and her villages. 46 From Ekron even unto the fea, all that lay near Ashdod, with their villages:

47 Afhdod with her towns and her villages, Gaza with her towns and her villages, unt the river of Egypt, and the great fea, and the border thereof.

48 And in the mountains, Shamir, ad Jatir, and Socoh,

49 And Dannah, and Kirjath-fannah, which is Debir,

so And Anab, and Ethremoh, and Anim, 51 And Goshen, and Holon, and Gilob eleven cities with their villages:

52 Arab, and Dumah, and Ethean, 53 And Janum, and Beth-tappush, and A. phekah,

6o Kirjath-baal, (which is Kirjath-jearim,) and Rabbah; two cities with their villages: 61 In the wilderness, Beth-arabah, Middin, and Secacah,

62 And Nibhan, and the city of Salt, and En-gedi; fix cities with their villages.

63 As for the Jehufites the inhabitants of Jerufalem, the children of Judah could not drive them out: but the Jebufites dwell with the children of Judah at Jerufalem unto this day.

CHAP. XVI.

AND the lot of the children of Jofeph fell from Jordan by Jericho, unto the water of Jericho on the ear, to the wilderness that goeth up from Jericho throughout mount Bet Beth-el,

And goeth out from Beth-el to Luz, and paffeth along unto the borders of Archi to Ataroth,

3 And goeth down weftward to the coaft of Japhleti, unto the coaft of Beth-horon the nether, and to Gezer: and the goings out thereof are at the fea.

4 So the children of Jofeph, Manaffeh and Ephraim, took their inheritance.

5And the border of the children of Ephraim, according to their families, was thus; even the border of their inheritance on the eaft fide was Ataroth-addar, unto Bethhoron the upper;

6 And the border went cut toward the fea, to Michmethah on the north fide, and the border went about eattward unto Taanath-thiloh, and p-tied by it on the eaft to Janohah:

7 And it went down from Janohah to Ataroth, and to Naarath, and came to Jericho, and went out at Jordan.

& The border went out from Tappuah weftward unto the river Kanah; and the goings out thereof were at the fea. This is the Inheritance of the tribe of the children of Ephraim by their families.

9 And the feparate cities for the children of Ephraim were among the inheritance of the children of Manaffeh, all the cities with their villages.

10 And they drave not out the Canaanites that dwelt in Gezer: but the Canaanites dwell among the Ephraimites unto this day,

HERE was alfo a lot for the tribe of Manafich, (for he reas the first-born of Jofeph,) to wit, for Machir, the first-born of Manalich, the father of Gilead: because he was a man of war, therefore he had Gilead and Bathan.

2 There was alfo a lot for the reft of the children of Manaffeh by their families: for the children of Abiezer, and for the children of Helek, and for the children of Af Mel and for the children of Shechem, and

for the children of Hepher, and for the chil dren of Shemida: there were the niale chil dren of Manaffeh, the fon of Jofeph, by their families.

3 But Zelophehad, the fon of Hepher, the fon of Gilead, the fon of Machir, the son of Manaffeh, had no fons, but daughters; and thefe are the names of his daughters, Mahlah, and Noah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Tirzah.

4 And they came near before Eleazar the prieft, and before Joshua the fon of Nun, and before the princes, faying, The LORD COMmanded Mofes to give us an inheritance among our brethren. Therefore according to the commandment of the LORD, he gave them an inheritance among the brethren of

their father.

5 And there fell ten portions to Manaffeh, befide the land of Gilead and Bafhan, which were on the other fide Jordan,

6 Because the daughters of Manaffeh had a inheritance among his fons; and the rest of Manaffek's fons had the land of Gilead.

7. And the coaft of Manaffeh was from Amher to Micamethah, that lieth before She. chem, and the border went along on the right hand unto the inhabitants of En-tappuah.

8 Now Manaffeh had the land of Tappuah : but Tappuah, on the border of Manaffeh, be longed to the children of Ephraim:

9 And the coaft defcended unto the river Kanah, fouthward of the river: these cities of Ephraim are among the cities of Manaffeh the coaft of Manafeh alfo was on the north fide of the river, and the outgoings of it were at the fea :

10 Southward it was Ephraim's, and north. ward it was Manaffeh's, and the fea is his border, and they met together in Ather on the north, and in Iffachar on the east.

11 And Manaffeh had in Iffachar, and in Ather, Beth-fhean and her towns, and Ibleam and her towns, and the inhabitants of Dor and her towns, and the inhabitants of Endor and her towns, and the inhabitants of Tanach and her towns, and the inhabitants of Megiddo and her towns, even three coun, tries.

12 Yet the children of Manaffeh could not drive out the inhabitants of thofe cities, but the Canaanites would dwell in that land.

13 Yet it came to pafs when the children of Ifrael were waxen trong, that they put the Canaanites to tribute; but did not utterly drive them out.

14 And the children of Jofeph spake unto Joshua, faying, Why haft thou given me but one lot and one portion to inherit, feeing I am a great people, forafmuch as the LORD hath bleffed me hitherto ?

15 And Joshua aniwered them, If thou be a great people, then get thee up to the wood. country, and cut down for thyfelf there, in the land of the Perizzites, and of the giants, if mount Ephraim be too narrow for chee.

16 And the children of Jofeph faid, The hill is not enough for us; and all the Ca naanites that dwell in the land of the valley have chariots of iron, both they who are of Beth-fhean and her towns, and they who are of the valley of Jezreel.

17 And Joshua fpake unto the houfe of Jofeph, even to Ephraim, and to Manaffeh, ray. ing, Thou art a great people, and haft great power; thou shalt not have one let only:

JOSHUA. 18 But the mountain fhall be thine; for it sa wood, and thou shalt cut it down: and the out-goings of it fhall be thine; for thou thalt drive out the Canaanites, though they have iron chariots, and though they be strong. CHAP. XVIII.

1 The tabernacle is fet up at Shiloh. 2 The remainder of the land is defcribed, 10 and divided by lot. 21 Cities of Benjamin. AND the whole congresation of the children of Ifrael affembled together at Shijoh, and fet up the tabernacle of the congregation there and the land was fubdued before them.

2 And there remained among the children of Ifrael feven tribes, which had not yet received their inheritance.

3 And Joshua faid unto the children of Ifrael, How long are ye flack to go to poffefs the land which the LORD God of your fathers hath given you?

4 Give out from among you three men for each tribe; and 1 will fend them, and they hall rife and go through the land, and defcribe it, according to the inheritance of them and they thall come again to me.

5 And they thail divide it into feven parts: Judah fhall abide in their coaft on the fouth, and the house of Jofeph fhall abide in their coats on the north.

6 Ye shall therefore defcribe the land into feven pares, and bring the defcription hither to me, that I may cait lets for you here be fore the LORD our God.

7 But the Levices have no part among you, for the priesthood of the LORD is their inheritance: and Gad, and Reuben, and half the tribe of Manaffeh, have received their inheritance beyond Jordan on the eaft, which Mofes the fervant of the LORD gave them.

8 And the men arofe, and went away: and Joshua charged them that went to defcribe the land, faying, Go, and walk through the land, and defcribe it, and come again to me, that I may here cant lots for you before the LORD in Shiloh.

9 And the men went, and paffed through the land, and defcribed it by cities into feven parts in a book, and came again to Joshua, to the hoft at Shiloh.

10 And Joshua caft lots for them in ShiJoh before the LORD and there Joshua divided the land unto the children of Ifrael, ac. cording to their divifions.

11And the lot of the tribe of the children of Benjamin came up according to their families and the coaft of their lot came forth between the children of Judah and the children of Jofeph.

12 And their border on the north fide was from Jordan: and the border went up to the fide of Jericho on the north fide, and went up through the mountains weftward; and the goings out thereof were at the wilderness of Beth-aven.

13 And the border went over from thence toward Luz, to the fide of Luz, (which is Beth-el,) fouthward, and the border defcended to Ataroth-adar, near the hill that lieth on the fouth-Gide of the nether Beth-horon.

14 And the border was drawn thence, and compared the corner of the fea fouthward, from the hill that lieth before Beth-horen fouthward; and the goings out thereot were at Kirjath-baal, (which is Kirjath-jearím,) a

15 And the fouth quarter was from the end of Kirjath-jearim, and the border went out on the weff, and went out to the well of wa ters of Nephtoah;

16 And the border came down to the end of the mountain that lieth before the valley of the fon of Hinnom, and which is in the

valley of the giants on the north, and de fcended to the valley of Hinnom, to the fide of jebufi on the fouth, and defcended to En. rogel,

17 And was drawn from the north, and went forth to En-fhemesh, and went forth to ward Celiloth, which is over against the go. ing up of Adummim, and defcended to the ftone of Bohan the fon of Reuben,

18 And paffed along toward the fide over against Arabah northward, and went down unto Arabah;

19 And the border paffed along to the fide of Beth-hoglah, northward: and the out-go. ings of the border were at the north bay of the falt fea, at the fouth end of Jordan. This was the fouth coaft.

20 And Jordan was the border of it on the eaft fide. This was the inheritance of the children of Benjamin, by the coafts thereof round about, according to their families.

21 Now the cities of the tribe of the chil dren of Benjamin, according to their fami lies, were jericho, and Beth-hoglah, and the valley of Keziz,

22 And Beth-arabah, and Zemaraim, and Beth-el,

23 And Avim, and Parah, and Ophrah; 24 And Chephar-haamonai, and Ophni, and Gaba; twelve cities with their villages: 25 Gibeon, and Ramah, and Beeroth, 26 And Mizpeh,and Chephirah,and Mozah, 27 And Rekem, and Irpeel, and Taralah, 28 And Zelah, Eleph, and Jebufi, (which it Jerufalem,) Gibeath, and Kirjath; fourteen cities with their villages. This is the in heritance of the children of Benjamin accord. ing to their families.

CHAP. XIX.

1 The lot of Simeon, 10 of Zebulun, 17 of 1. fachar, 24 of Afber, 32 of Naphtali, 40 and of Dan. 49 The children of Israel give an inheritance to Josua.

AND the fecond lot came forth to Simeon, even for the tribe of the children of Simeon, according to their families: and their inheritance was within the inheritance of the children of Judah.

2 And they had in their inheritance, Beer. fheba, and Sheba, and Moladah,

3 And Hazar-fhual, and Balah, and Azem, 4 And Eltolad, and Bethul, and Hormah, 5 And Ziklag, and Eech-marcaboth, and Hazar-fufah,

6 And Beth-Jebaoth,and Sharuhen; thirteen cities and their villages:

7 Ain, Remmon, and Ether, and Afhan; four cities and their villages:

8 And all the villages that were round about thefe cities, to Baalath-beer, Ramath of the fouth. This is the Inheritance of the tribe of the children of Simeon, according to their families.

9 Out of the portion of the children of Judah was the inheritance of the children of Simeon: for the part of the children of

children of Simeon had their inheritance with-
in the inheritance of them.

10 And the third tot came up for the
children of Zebulun, according to their fa-
milies: and the border of their inheritance
was unto Sarid.

II And their border went up toward the fea, and Maralah, and reached to Dabbatheth, and reached to the river that is before Jekneam;

12 And turned from Sarid eastward toward the fun-rifing unto the border of Chiloth-tabor, and then goeth out to Daberath, and goeth up to Japhia,

13 And from thence paffeth on along on the eat to Gittah-hepher, to Ittah-kazin, and goeth out to Remmon-methoar to Neah;

14 And the border compaffeth it on the north-fide to Hannathon; and the outgoings thereof are in the valley of Jiphthah-el;

15 And Kattath, and Nahallal, and Shimron, and Idalah, and Beth-lehem: twelve cities with their villages.

16 This is the inheritance of the children of Zebulun, according to their families, thefe cities with their villages.

17And the fourth lot came out to Iffachar, for the children of Iffachar according to their families.

18 And their border was toward Jezreel, and Chefulloth, and Shunem,

19 And Hapharaini, and Shihon, and Ana. harath,

20 And Rabbith, and Kishion, and Abez, 21 And Remeth, and En-ganim, and Enhaddah, and Beth-pazzez;

22 And the coaft reacheth to Tabor, and Shahazimah, and Beth-themesh, and the outgoings of their border were at Jordan: fixteen cities with their villages.

23 This is the inheritance of the tribe of the children of Iffachar, according to their families, the cities and their villages.

24 And the fifth lot came out for the tribe of the children of Ather, according to their families.

25 And their border was Helkath, and Hali, and Beten, and Achfhaph,

26 And Alammelech, and Amad, and Miheal; and reached to Carmel weftward, and to Shihor-libnath,

27 And turneth toward the fun-rifing to Beth-dagon, and reacheth to Zebuluh and to the valley of Jiphthah-el toward the northfide of Beth-emek, and Neiel, and goeth out to Cabul on the left hand

28 And Hebron, and Rehob, and Hammon, and Kanah, even unto great Zidon;

29 And then the coaft turneth io Ramah,

and to the trung city Tyre, and the coaft turneth to Hofah; and the outgoings thereof are at the fea, from the coaft to Achzib:

o Ummah alfo, and Aphek, and Rehob: twenty and two cities with their villages. 31 This is the inheritance of the tribe of the children of Afher according to their families, thefe cities with their villages.

32 The fixth lot came out to the children of Naphtali, even for the children of Naphtali according to their families.

33 And their coat was from Heleph, from Allon to Zaananaim, and Adami, Nekeb, and Jabneel, unto Lakum; and the outgoings thereof were at jordan:

35 And the fenced cities are Ziddim, Zer, and Hammath, Rakkath, and Cinnereth, 36 And Adamah, and Ramah, and Hazor, 37 And Kedeth, and Edre, and En-hazor, 38 And Iron, and Migdal-el, fiorem, and Beth-anath, and Beth-themeth: nineteen cities with their villages.

39 This is the inheritance of the tribe of the children of Naphtali according to their families, the cities and their villages.

40 And the feventh lot came out for the tribe of the children of Dan according to their families.

41 And the coaft of their inheritance was Zorah, and Fihtaol, and Ir-fhemeth,

42 And Shaalabbin, and Ajalon, and Jeth. lah,

43 And Elon, and Thimuathah, and Ekron, 44 And Eltekeh, and Gibbethon, and Baalath,

45 And Jehud, and Bene-berak, and Gathrimmor,

46 And Me-jarkon, and Rakkon, with the border before Japho.

47 And the coaft of the children of Dan went out too little for them; therefore the children of Dan went up to fight against Lethem, and took it, and fmote it with the edge of the fword, and poffeffed it, and dwelt therein, and called Lethem, D., after the name of Dan their father.

48 This is the inheritance of the tribe of the children of Dan according to their families, thefe cities with their villages.

49 When they had made an end of divid ing the land for inheritance by their coafts, the children of Ifrael gave an inheritance to Joshua the fon of Nun among them:

50 According to the word of the LORD they gave him the city which he asked, even Timnath-ferah in mount Ephraim and he built the city, and dwelt therein.

51 Thefe are the inheritances which Eleazar the priest, and Joshua the fon of Nus, and the heads of the fathers of the tribes of the children of Ifrael, divided for an inheritance by lot in Shilch before the LORD, at the door ofthe tabernacle of the congregation. 3 That the flayer that killeth any perfon unawares, and unwittingly, may flee thither and they thall be your refuge from the avenger of blood.

4 And when he that doth flee unto one of thofe cities thall ftand at the entering of the gate of the city, and fhall declare his caufe in the ears of the elders of that city; they fhall take him into the city unto them, and give him a place, that he may dwell among them. S And if the avenger of blood purfue after him, then they thall not deliver the flayed up into his hand; because he fmote his
