13 An angel appeareth to bua.

AND it came to pafs, when all the kings of
the Amorites, which were on the fide of
Jordan, westward, and all the kings of the

Canaanites, which were by the fea, heard
that the LORD had dried up the waters of
Jordan from before the children of Ifrael,

2. At that time the LORD faid unto Jofhua,
Make thee sharp knives, and circumcife
again the children of Ifrael the fecond time.
3 And Joshua made him tharp knives, and
circumcifed the children of Ifrael at the hill
of the foretkins.

4 And this is the caufe why Joshua did circumcife: All the people that came out of Egypt that were males, even all the men of war, died in the wilderness by the way, after they came out of Egypt.

5 Now all the people that came out were circumcifed; but all the people that were born in the wilderness by the way, as they came forth out of Egypt, them they had not circumcifed.

6 For the children of Ifrael walked forty years in the wilderness, tili all the people, that were men of war, which came out of Egypt were confumed, because they obeyed not the voice of the LORD: unto whom the LORD fware, that he would not fhew them the land which the LORD fware unto their fathers that he would give us, a land that noweth with milk and honey.

And their children, whom he raifed up in their ftead, them Joshua circumcifed: for they were uncircumcifed, because they had not circumcifed them by the way.

8 And it came to pafs, when they had done circumcifing all the people, that they abode in their places in the camp till they were whole. 9 And the LORD faid unto Joshua, This day have I rolled away the reproach of Egypt from off you: wherefore the name of the place is called Gilgal unto this day.

To And the children of Ifrael encamped in Gilgal, and kept the paffover on the fourteenth day of the month at even, in the plains of Jericho.

11 And they did eat of the old corn of the land on the morrow after the paffover, unleavened cakes, and parched corn in the felf. fame day.

12And the manna ceased on the morrow after they had eaten of the old corn of the land; neither had the children of Ifrael manna any more; but they did eat of the fruit of the land of Canaan that year.

13¶ And it came to pafs, when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted up his eyes and looked, and behold, there stood a man over against him, with his fword drawn in his hand and Joshua went unto him, and faid unto him, drt thou for us, or for our adverfaries?

14 And he faid, Nay; but as captain of the hott of the LORD am I now come. And Joshua fell on his face to the earth, and did worfhip, and faid unto him, What faith my lord unto his fervant ?

Now Jericho was fraitly fhut up, be

2 And the LORD faid unto Jofhua, See, I have given into thine hand Jericho, and the king thereof, and the mighty men of valour,

3 And ye fhall compafs the city, all ye men of war, and go round about the city once. Thus thalt thou do fix days.

4 And seven priests fhall bear before the ark feven trumpets of rams' horns: and the feventh day ye thall compafs the city feven times, and the priests shall blow with the trumpets.

5 And it shall come to pafs, that when they make a long blast with the ram's horn, and when ye hear the found of the trumpet, all the people thail fhout with a great fhout; and the wall of the city hall fall down flat, and the people thall afcend up, every man straight before him.

6 And Joshua the fon of Nun called the prieffs, and faid unto them, Take up the ark of the covenant, and let feven priefts bear feven trumpets of rams' horns before the ark of the LORD.

And he faid unto the people, País on, and compafs the city, and let him that is armed pafs on before the ark of the LORD.

8 And it came to pafs, when Joshua had fpoken unto the people, that the feven priests bearing the feven trumpets of rams' horns paf fed on before the LORD, and blew with the trumpets: and the ark of the covenant of the LORD followed them.

9 And the armed men went before the priefs that blew with the trumpets, and the rere-ward came after the ark, the priefs go ing on, and blowing with the trumpets.

10 And Joshua had commanded the people, faying, Ye fhall not fhout, nor make any noife with your voice, neither shall any word proceed out of your mouth until the day I bid you shout; then thall ye shout.

11 So the ark of the LORD compared the city, going about it once: and they came in. to the camp, and lodged in the camp.

12 And Joshua rofe early in the morning, and the priests took up the ark of the LORD.

13 And feven priefts bearing feven trum pets of rams' horns before the ark of the LORD, went on continually, and blew with the trumpets: and the armed men went be fore them; but the rere-ward came after the ark of the LORD, the priests going on and blowing with the trumpets.

14 And the fecond day they compaffed the city once, and returned into the camp: fo they did fix days.

15 And it came to pafs on the feventh day, that they rofe early, about the dawning of the day, and compaffed the city after the fame manner feven times: only on that day they compaffed the city feven times.

16 And it came to pafs at the feventh time, when the priests biew with the trumpets, Joshua faidanto the people, Shout; for the LORD hath given you the city,
