LORD, as he commanded him.

10 And Mofes and Aaron gathered the congregation together before the rock, and he Taid unto them, Hear now, ye rebels; muft met We fetch you water out of this rock!

11 And Mofes lifted up his hand, and with his rod he fmote the rock twice; and the water came out abundantly: and the congregation drank, and their beafts also.

1 And the LORD fpake unto Mofes and Aaron, Becaufe ye believed me not, to fanctify me in the eyes of the children of Ifrael, therefore ye hall not bring this congregation into the land which I have given them. 13 This is the water of Meribah; becaufe the children of Ifrael ftrove with the LORD, and he was fanctified in them.

14 And Moles fent meffengers from Kadeth unto the king of Edom, Thus faith thy brother Ifrael, Thou knoweft all the travel that hath befallen us;

15 How our fathers went down into Egypt, and we have dwelt in Egypt a long time; and the Egyptians vexed us and our fathers.

16 And when we cried unto the LORD, he heard our voice, and fent an angel, and bath brought us forth out of Egypt; and, behold, we are in Kadeth, a city in the ut. termost of thy border.

17 Let us pafs, I pray thee, through thy country: we will not pafs through the fields, or through the vineyards, neither will we drink of the water of the wells; we will go by the king's high-way, we will not turn to the right hand nor to the left, until we have paffed thy borders

18 And Edom faid unto him, Thou shalt not pafs by me, lett I come out against thee with the (word.

19 And the children of Ifrael faid unto him, We will go by the high-way; and if I and my cattle drink of thy water, then I will pay for it: I will only (without doing any thing elfe) go through on my feet.

20 And he faid, Thou shalt not go through. And Edom came out against him with much people, and with a strong hand.

11 Thus Edom refufed to give Ifrael paf fage through his border: wherefore Ifrael turned away from him.

12 And the children of Ifrael, even the whole congregation, journeyed from Kadeth, and came unto moun, Hor.

23 Aad the Loan fpake unto Mofes and Aaron in mount Hor, by the coat of the land of Edom, faying,

24 Aaron shall be gathered unto his people: for he fhall not enter into the land which I have given unto the children of Ifrael, because ye rebelled againit my word eat the water of Meriban.

25 Take Aaron and Eleazar his fon, and bring them up unto mount Hor;

26 And strip Aaron of his garments, and put them upon Eleazar his lon: and Aaron thall be gathered unto his people, and shall

die there.

27 And Mofes did as the LORD command. ed; and they went up into mount Hor in the fight of all the congregation.

28 And Mofes tripped Aaron of his gar. ments, and put them upon Eleazar his fon;

20 And when all the congregation saw that Aaron was dead, they mourned for Aaron thirty days, even all the house of Ifrael. CHAP. XXI. 6 The people, plagued with ery ferpents, 9 are healed. 21 Sibon and Og lain. 2 And Ifrael vowed a vow unto the LORD, and faid, If thou wilt indeed deliver this people into my hand, then I will utterly destroy their cities.

3 And the LORD hearkened to the voice of Ifrael, and delivered up the Canaanites; and they utterly destroyed them and their cities: and he called the name of the place Hormah.

4 And they journeyed from mount Hor, by the way of the Red fea, to compass the land of Edom: and the foul of the people was much difcouraged because of the way.

5 And the people fpake against God, and against Mofes, Wherefore have ye brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wildernes For there is no bread,neither is there any wa ter; and our foul lotheth this light bread.

6 And the LORD fent fiery ferpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Ifrael died.

7 Therefore the people came to Mofes, and faid, We have finned: for we have fpo ken against the LORD, and against thee: pray unto the LORD, that he take away the ferpents from us. And Mofes prayed for the people.

8 And the LORD faid unto Mofes, Make thee a fiery ferpent, and fet it upon a pole : and it shall come to pass, that every one that is bitten, when he looketh upon it, thall live.

9 And Mofes made a ferpent of brafs, and put it upon a pole; and it came to pass, that if a ferpent had bitten any man, when he beheld the ferpent of brafs, he lived.

10 And the children of Ifrael fet for. ward, and pitched in Oboth.

11 And they journeyed from Oboth, and pitched at Ije-abarim,in the wilderness which is before Moab, toward the fun-rifing.

12 From thence they removed, and pitch. ed in the valley of Zared.

13 From thence they removed, and pitched on the other fide of Arnon, which is in the wildernefs that cometh out of the coats of the Amorites: for Arnon is the border of Moab, between Moab and the Amorites.

14 Wheretore it is faid in the book of the wars of the LORD, What he did in the Red fea, and in the brooks of Arnon.

15 And at the ftream of the brooks that goeth down to the dwelling of Ar, and lieth upon the border of Moab.

16 And from thence they went to Beer; that is the well whereof the LORD fpake unto Mofes, Gather the people together, and I will give them water.

17 Then Ifrael fang this fong, Spring up, O well; fing ye unto it:

18 The princes digged the well, the nobles ind Aaron died there in the top of the of the people digged it, by the direction of

Sihan and Og flain.

Balak fendeth for Balaan. because they were many and Moab was d treffed because of the children of Ifrael.

NUMBER S. the law-giver, with their flaves. And from the wilderness they went to Mattanah :

19 And from Mattanah to Nahaliel and from Nahalie! to Bamoth:

20 And from Bamoth in the valley, that is in the country of Moab, to the top of Pif gah, which looketh toward Jefhimon.

21 And Ifrael fent menengers unto Sihon king of the Amorites, faying,

22 Let me pafs through thy land we will not turn into the fields, or into the vine. yards; we will not drink of the waters of the well; but we will go along by the king's bigh-way, until we be paft thy borders.

23 And Sihon would not fuffer Ifrael to país through his border; but Sihon gathered all his people together, and went out against Ifrael into the wilderness: and he came to Jahaz, and fought againft Ifrael:

24 And Ifrael fmote him with the edge of the fword, and poffeffed his land from Arnon unto Jabbok, even unto the children of Am. mon for the border of the children of Ammon was strong.

25 And Ifrael took all thefe cities: and If. rael dwelt in all the cities of the Amorites, in Hebon, and in all the villages thereof.

26 For Hethbon was the city of Sihon the king of the Amorites, who had fought againft the former king of Moab, and taken all his land out of his hand, even unto Arnon.

27 Wherefore they that fpeak in proverbs fay, Come into Hethbon, let the city of sihon be built and prepared:

28 For there is a fire gone out of Hefhbon, a flame from the city of Sihon: it hath con. fumed Arof Moab, and the lords of the high places of Arnon.

29 Woe to thee, Moab! thou art undone, O people of Chernot he hath given his fons that efcaped, and his daughters, into captivity unto Sinon king of the Amorites.

30 We have thot at them: Heibbon is perished even unto Dibon, and we have laid them wafte even unto Nophah, which reach eth unto Medeba.

31 Thus Ifrael dwelt in the land of the Amorites.

32 And Mofes fent to fpy out Jaazer, and they took the villages thereof, and drove out the Amorites that were there.

33 And they turned, and went up by the way of Bathan: and Og the king of Bathan went out against them, he and all his people, to the battle at Edrei.'

34 And the LORD faid unto Mofes, Fear him not; for I have delivered him into thy hand, and all his people, and his land; and thou shalt do to him as thou didit unto Sihon king of the Amorites, which dwelt at Hethbon.

35 So they fmote him, and his fons, and all his people, until there was none left him alive and they poffeffed his land.
