12 And the Levites fhall lay their hands upon the heads of the bullocks: and thou halt offer the one for a fin-offering, and the other for a burnt-offering, unto the LORD, to make an atonement for the Levites.

13 And thou shalt fet the Levites before Aaron, and before his fons, and offer them for an offering unto the LORD.

15 And after that thall the Levites go in to do the fervice of the tabernacle of the congregation: and thou shalt cleanse them, and offer them for an offering.

15 For they are wholly given unto me from among the children of Ifrael; instead of fuch as open every womb, even instead of the firit born of all the children of Ifrael, have I

taken them unto me.

For all the first-born of the children of Ifrael are mine, both man and beaft: on the day that I fmote every firft-born in the land of Egypt I fanctified them for myfelf.

18 And I have taken the Levites for all the first-born of the children of Ifrael.

19 And I have given the Levites as a gift to Aaron, and to his fons, from among the children of Ifrael, to do the fervice of the children of Ifrael in the tabernacle of the congregation, and to make an atonement for the children of Ifrael; that there be no plague among the children of Ifracl, when the children of Ifrael come nigh unto the fanctuary.

to And Mofes, and Aaron, and all the congregation of the children of lirael, did to the Levites according unto all that the LORD commanded Mofes concerning the Levites, so did the children of Ifrael unto them.

23 And the LORD fpake unto Mofes, faying,

25 And from the age of fifty years they thall ceafe waiting upon the service thereof and thall ferve no more;

26 But fhall minifter with their brethren in the tabernacle of the congregation, to keep the charge, and thall do no fervice. Thus that thou do unto the Levites touch. ing their charge.

18 At the commandment of the LORD the children of Ifrael journeyed and at the commandment of the LORD they pitched: as long as the cloud abode upon the tabernacle they rested in their tents.

19 And when the cloud tarried long upon the tabernacle many days, then the children of Ifrael kept the charge of the LORD, and journeyed not.

20 And fo it was, when the cloud was a few days upon the tabernacle; according to the commandment of the LORD they abode in their tents, and according to the command. ment of the LORD they journeyed.

21 And so it was, when the cloud abode from even unto the morning, and that the cloud was taken up in the morning, then they journeyed whether it was by day or by night that the cloud was taken up they journeyed.

22 Or whether it were two days, or a month, or a year, that the cloud tarried upon the tabernacle, remaining thereon, the children of Ifrael abode in their tents, and journeyed not; but when it was taken up they journeyed.

Chap. 21.
29 And Mofes faid unto Hobab, the fon of
Raguel the Midianite, Mofes' father-in-law,
We are journeying unto the place of which
the LORD faid, I will give it you: come thou
with us, and we will do thee good; for the
LORD hath spoken good concerning Ifrael.
30 And be faid unto him, I will not go;
but I will depart to mine own land, and to
my kindred.

31 And he laid, Leave us not, I pray thee;
forafmuch as thou knoweft how we are to

be to us inftead of eyes.

32 And it shall be, if thou go with us, yes, it fhall be, that what goodness the LORD hall do unto us, the fame will we do unto

thee.

33¶ And they departed from the mount of the LORD three day's journey: and the ark of the covenant of the LORD went before them in the three days journey, to fearch out a refting-place for them.

34 And the cloud of the LORDwas upon them by day when they went out of the camp. 35 And it came to pafs, when the ark fet forward, that Mofes fail, Rife up, LORD, and let thine enemies be fcattered; and let them that hate thee flee before thee.

AND per the people complained, it dif.
pleafed the LORD: and the LORD heard
it; and his anger was kindled: and the fire
of the LORD burnt among them, and con-
fumed them that were in the uttermott parts
of the camp.

2 And the people cried unto Mofes; and when Mofes prayed unto the LORD, the fire was quenched.

3 And he called the name of the place Taberah: because the fire of the LORD burnt among them.

4And the mixed multitude that was among them fell a lufting: and the children of lfrael alfo wept again, and faid, Who shall give us fleth to eat?

3 We remember the fish which we did eat in Egypt freely; the cucumbers, and the melons, and the leeks, and the onions, and the garlick.

6 But now our foul is dried away: there is nothing at all, befides this manna, before our eyes.

And the manna was as coriander-feed, and the colour thereo's the colour of bdellium. 8 And the people went about, and gathered it, and ground it in mills, or beat it in a mortar, and baked it in pans, and made cakes of it: and the taste of it was as the tafle of fresh oil.

9 And when the dew fell upon the camp in the night, the manna fell upon it.

10 Then Mofes heard the people weep throughout their families, every man in the door of his tent: and the anger of the LORD was kindled greatly; Mofes alfo was dif. pleafed.

11 And Mofes faid unto the LORD, Wherefore hast thou afflicted thy fervant? and wherefore have I not found favour in thy fight, that thou laycut the burden of all this people upon met

13 Whence thould I have desh to give un to all this people! For they weep unto me, faying, Give us flesh, that we may eat.

14 I am not able to bear all this people alone, because it is too heavy for me.

15 And if thou deal thus with me, kill me, I pray thee, out of hand, if I have found favour in thy fight; and let me not see my wretchednefs.

16 And the LORD faid unto Mofes, Gather unto me feventy men of the elders of Ifrael, whom thou knoweft to be the elders of the people, and officers over them; and bring them unto the tabernacle of the congregation, that they may stand there with thee.

17 And I will conie down, and talk with thee there: and I will take of the spirit which is upon thee, and will put it upon them; and they thall bear the burden of the people with thee, that thou bear it not thy felf alone.

18 And fay thou unto the people, Sanctify yourselves againft to-morrow, and ye shall eat fein: (for ye have wept in the ears of the LORD, faying, Who shall give us flesh to eat? for it was well with us in Egypt :) therefore the LORD will give you fleth, and ye thall eat.

19 Ye shall not eat one day, nor two days, nor five days, neither ten days, nor twenty days;

io But even a whole month, until it come out at your noftrils, and it be loathfome unto you: becaufe that ye have defpifed the LORD which is among you, and have wept before him, faying, Why came we forth out of Egypt?

21 And Mofes faid, The people among whom I am are fix hundred thousand footmen; and thou haft faid, I will give them flesh, that they may eat a whole month,

22 Shall the flocks and the herds be flain for them, to futfice them or fhall all the fish of the fea be gathered together for them, to fuffice them?

23 And the LORD faid unto Mofes, Is the LORD's hand waxed thort? Thou shalt fee now whether my word hall come to pass unto thee or not.

24 And Mofes went out, and told the peo. ple the words of the LORD, and gathered the feventy men of the elders of the people, and fet them round about the tabernacle.

25 And the LORD came down in a cloud, and fpake unto him, and took of the fpirit that was upon him, and gave it unto the feventy elders: and it came to pafs that, when the fpirit refted upon them, they pro phefied, and did not cease.

26 But there remained two of the men in the camp, the name of the one was Eldad, and the name of the other Medad: and the fpirit retted upon them, (and they were of them that were written, but went not out unto the tabernacle,) and they prophefiedin the camp.

27 And there ran a young man, and told Mofes, and faid, Eldad and Medad do pro. phefy in the camp.

28 And Joshua the fon of Nun, the fervant of Mofes, one of his young men, anfwered, and faid, My lord Mofes, forbid them.

30 And Mofes gat him into the camp, he and the elders of Ifrael.

31 And there went torth a wind from the LORD, and brought quails from the fea, and let them fall by the camp, as it were a day's journey on this fide, and as it were a day's journey on the other fide, round about the camp, and as it were two cubits high upon the face of the earth.

32 And the people stood up all that day, and all that night, and all the next day, and they gathered the quails: he that gathered leaft gathered ten homers; and they spread them all abroad for themselves round about the camp.

33 And while the flesh was yet between their teeth, ere it was chewed, the wrath of the LORD was kindled against the people; and the LORD fmote the people with a very great plague.

34 And he called the name of that place Kibroth-hattaavah: because there they buried the people that lufted.

35 And the people journeyed from Kibrothhattaavah unto Hazeroth; and abode at Hazeroth.

2 And they faid, Hath the LORD indeed fpoken only by Mofes? hath he not spoken alfo by us? And the LORD heard it.

3 (Now the man Mofes was very meek above all the men which were upon the face of the earth.)

4 And the LORD fрake fuddenly unto Mofes, and unto Aaron, and unto Miriam, Come out ye three unto the tabernacle of the congregation. And they three came out.

5 And the LORD came down in the pillar of the cloud, and ttood in the door of the tabernacle, and called Aaron and Miriam : and they both came forth.

6 And he faid, Hear now my words: If there be a prophet among you, the LORD will make myfelt known unto him in a vison, and will speak unto him in a dream.

7 My fervant Mofes is not fo, who is faithful in all mine houfe.

9 And the anger of the LORD was kindled against them, and he departed.

10 And the cloud departed from off the tabernacle; and, behold, Miriam became leprous, white as fnow and Aaron looked upon Miriam, and, behold, be was leprous."

11 And Aaron faid unto Mofes, Alas! my lord, I beseech thee, lay not the fin upon us, wherein we have done foolishly, and wherein we have finned.

24 The place was called the brook Efhcol,
becaufe of the cluster of grapes which the
children of lfrael cut down from thence.
25 And they returned from fearching of
the land after forty days.
26 And they went and came to Mofes,
and to Aaron, and to all the congregation of
the children or Ifrael, unto the wilderness of
Paran, to Kadeth; and broughtick word

and thewed them the fruit of the land.

27 And they told him, and faid, We came

furely it floweth with milk and honey; and

this is the fruit of it.

28 Nevertheless, the people be firong that dwell in the land, and the cities are walled, and very great: and, moreover, we faw the children of Anak there.

29 The Amalekites dwell in the land of the fouth; and the Hittites, and the Jebusites, and the Amorites, dwell in the mountains; and the Canaanites dwell by the fea, and by the coaft of Jordan.

30 And Caleb filled the people before Mofes, and faid, Let us go up at once and pof. fels it; for we are well able to overcome it. 31 But the men that went up with him faid, We be not able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we.

32 And they brought up an evil report of the land which they had fearched unto the children of Ifrael, faying, The land, through which we have gone to fearch it, is a land that eateth up the inhabitants thereof: and all the people that we faw in it are men of a great stature.

CHAP. XIV.

The people, murmuring at the report of the

AND all the congregation lifted up their
voice, and cried; and the people wept
that night.

And all the children of Ifrael murmured
against Mofes, and againtt Aaron: and the
whole congregation faid unto them, Would
God that we had died in the land of Egypt!
or, would Cod we had died in this wildernefs!
3 And wherefore hath the LORD brought us
unto this land, to fall by the fword, that our
wives and our children fhould be a prey?
Were it not better for us to return intoEgypt?
4And they faid ore to another, Let us make
a captain, and let us return into Egypt.
5Then Mofes and Aaron fell on their faces
before all the affembly of the congregation
of the children of lfrael.

6 And Joshua the fon of Nun, and Caleb the fon of Jephunneh, which were of them that fearched the land, rent their clothes. 7 And they fpake unto all the company of the children of Ifrael, faying, The land, which we paffed through to fearch it, is an exceeding good land,

with God.

8 If the LORD delight in us, then he wil bring us into this land, and give it us; a land which floweth with milk and honey.

9 Only rebel not ye againit the LORD, neither lear ye the people of the land; for they are bread for us: their delence is de parted from them, and the LORD is with us;

fear them not.

10 But all the congregation bade ftone them with ftones. And the glory of the LORD appeared in the tabernacle of the congregation, betore all the children of lirael.

II And the LORD faid unto Mofes, How long will this people provoke me and how long will it be ere they believe me, for all the figns which I have thewed among them?

12 I will fmite them with the peftilence, and difinherit them, and will make of thee a greater nation, and mightier than they.

13 And Mofes faid unto the Lox, Then the Egyptians thall hear it,(for thou brought eft up this people in thy might from among them,)

14 And they will tell it to the inhabitants of this land: for they have heard that thou, LORD, art among this people; that thou, LORD, art feen face to face; and that thy cloud ftandeth over them; and that thou goeft before them, by day-time in a pillar of a cloud, and in a pillar of fire by night.

15 Now if thou shalt kill all this people as one man, then the nations, which have heard the fame of thee, will speak, faying,

16 Because the LORD was not able to bring this people into the land which he fware unto them, therefore he hath flain them in the wilderness.

17 And now, I beseech thee, let the power of my LORD be great, according as thou haft spoken, faying,

18 The LORD is long-fuffering, and of great mercy, forgiving iniquity and tranfgreifton, and by no means clearing the quilty; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, unto the third and fourth generation:

19 Pardon, I beseech thee, the iniquity of this people, according unto the greatness of thy mercy, and as thou haft forgiven this people from Egypt even until now.

20 And the LORD faid, I have pardoned, according to thy word:

21 But as truly as I live, all the earth shall be filled with the glory of the LORD.

22 Because all thofe men which have feen my glory, and my miracles which I did in Egypt, and in the wildernefs, and have tempted me now thefe te times, and have not hearkened to my voice;

23 Surely they thall not fee the land which I fware unto their fathers, neither hall any of them that provoked me fee it:

24 But my fervant Caleb, because he had another fpirit with him, and hath tollowed me fully, him will I bring into the land where. into he went; and his feed thall poffefs it.

25 (Now the Amalekites and the Canaanites dwelt in the valley.) To-morrow turn you, and get ye into the wilderness, by the way of the Red fea.

26 And the LORD fpake unto Mofes and unto Aaron, saying,

27 How long shall I bear with this evil congregation, which murmur againit me? I have heard the murmurings of the children of Ifrael, which they murmur against me,
