Daniel caft into the den.

Chap. vil.

king, thall be caft into the den of lions? The king anfwered and faid, The thing is true, according to the law of the Medes and Perfians, which altereth not.

13 Then answered they and faid before the king, That Daniel, which is of the children of the captivity of Judah, regardeth not thee, O king, nor the decree that thou haft figned, but maketh his petition three times a day.

14 Then the king, when he heard thefe words, was fore difpleafed with himfelf, and fet his heart on Daniel to deliver him; and he laboured till the going down of the fun to deliver him.

15 Then these men affembled unto the king, and faid unto the king, Know, O king, that the law of the Medes and Perfians is, That no decree nor ftatute which the king establisheth may be changed.

16 Then the king commanded, and they brought Daniel, and caft him into the den of lions. Now the king fpake and faid unto Daniel, Thy God whom thou fervent continually, he will deliver thee.

17 And a flone was brought, and laid upon the mouth of the den; and the king fealed it with his own fignet, and with the fignet of his lords; that the purpofe might not be changed concerning Daniel.

18 Then the king went to his palace, and pailed the night fafting: neither were intruments of mulic brought before him: and his sleep went from him."

1 Then the king arofe very early in the morning, and went in hafte unto the den of lions.

20 And when he came to the den, he cried with a lamentable voice unto Daniel; and the king fpake and faid to Daniel, O Daniel, fervant of the living God, is thy God, whom thou fervent continuafly, able to deliver thee From the lions?

21 Then faid Daniel unto the king, O king,

ive for ever.

22 My God hath fent his angel, and hath hut the lions' mouths, that they have not urt me: forafmuch as before him innocency was found in me; and also before thee, O king, have I done no hurt.

23 Then was the king exceeding glad for im, and commanded that they thould take Daniel up out of the den. So Daniel was ta. en up out of the den, and no manner of hurt vas found upon him, because he believed in is God.

24 And the king commanded, and they rought thofe men which had accufed Dá. iel, and they caft them into the den of lions, hem, their children, and their wives; and he lions had the mastery of them, and brake their bones in pieces or ever they came at he bottom of the den.

15 Then king Darius wrote unto all peole, nations and languages, that dwell in all he earth; Peace be multiplied unto you.

26 I make a decree, That in every domiion of my kingdom men tremble and fear fore the God of Daniel: for he is the living od, and itedfaft for ever, and his kingdom tat which shall not be deftroyed, and his minion fhall be even unto the end.

27 He delivereth and refcueth, and he orketh figns and wonders in heaven and in arth, who hath delivered Daniel from the Ower of the lions,

His vifion, &c.
28 So this Daniel profpered in the reign of
Darius, and in the reign of Cyrus the Perfan.
CHAP. VIT.

1 Daniel's vifion of the four bealls, 9 of God's
kingdom: 15 the interpretation thereof.

the first year of Belthazzar king of Baby.

lon Daniel had a dream and vifions of his head upon his bed: then he wrote the dream, and told the fum of the matters.

2 Daniel fpake and faid, I faw in my vifion by night, and, behold, the four winds of the heaven ftrove upon the great fea.

3 And four great beats came up from the fea, diverse one from another.

4 The first was like a lion, and had eagle's wings: I beheld till the wings thereof were plucked, and it was lifted up from the earth," and made ftand upon the feet as a man, and a man's heart was given to it.

5 And behold, another beaft, a fecond, like to a bear, and it raised up itself on one fide, and it had three ribs in the mouth of it be tween the teeth of it: and they laid thus unto it, Arife, devour much flesh.

6 After this I beheld, and, lo, another, like a leopard, which had upon the back of it four wings of a fowl; the beaft had also four heads; and dominion was given to it.

After this I faw in the night vifions, and behold a fourth beaft, dreadful and terrible, and strong exceedingly; and it had great iron teeth; it devoured and brake in pieces, and ftamped the residue with the feet of it and it was diverfe from all the beafts that were be foreit; and it had ten horns.

8 1 confidered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another little horn, be fore whom there were three of the first horns plucked up by the roots: and, behold, in this horn tere eyes like the eyes of man, and a mouth fpeaking great things.

9 beheld till the thrones were caft down, and the Ancient of Days did fit, whofe gar. ment was white as fnow, and the hair of his head like the pure wool: his throne was like the fiery flame, and his wheels as burning fire.

10 A fiery ftream iffued and came forth from before him: thousand thousands minitered unto him, and ten thousand times ten thoufand ftood before him: the judgment was fet, and the books were opened.

It I beheld then becaufe of the voice of the great words which the horn fpake: I beheld, even till the beaft was flain, and his body deftroyed, and given to the burning flame.

12 As concerning the rest of the beafts, they had their dominion taken away: yet their lives were prolonged for a feafon and time.

13 I faw in the night visions, and behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of Days, and they brought him near before him.

14 And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, na. tions, and languages, fhould ferve him his dominion is an everlanting dominion, which fhail not pafs away, and his kingdom that which fall not be destroyed,

151 Daniel was grieved in my fpirit in the midft of my body, and the visions of my head troubled ine.

16 I came near unto one of them that flood by, and asked him the truth of all this. 80

DANIEL.

he told me, and made me know the interpretation of the things.

17 Thefe great beasts which are four, are four kings, which thall arife out of the earth. 18 But the faints of the Moft High thall take the kingdom, and poffefs the kingdom for ever, even for ever and ever.

19 Then I would know the truth of the fourth beaft, which was diverfe from all the others, exceeding dreadful, whofe teeth were of iron, and his nails of brafs; which devoured, brake in pieces, and ftamped the refidue with his feet;

20 And of the ten horns that were in his, head, and of the other which came up, and before whom three fell; even of that horn that had eyes, and a mouth that spake very great things, whose look was more itout than his tellows.

21 I beheld, and the fame horn made war with the faints, and prevailed against them;

22 Until the Ancient of Days came, and judgment was given to the faints of the Moft High; and the time came that the faints poffeffed the kingdom.

23 Thus he faid, The fourth beaft fhall be the fourth kingdom upon earth, which shall be diverfe from all kingdoms, and thall devour the whole earth, and shall tread it down, and break it in pieces.

24 And the ten horns out of this kingdom are ten kings that thall arife: and another thall rife after them; and he fhall be diverfe from the first, and he shall fubdue three kings.

25 And he thall speak great words against the Moit High, and thall wear out the faints of the Most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.

26 But the judgment shall fit, and they shall take away his dominion, to confume and to destroy it unto the end.

27 And the kingdom and dominion, and the greatnefs of the kingdom under the whole heaven, thall be given to the people of the Laints of the Moft High, whofe kingdom is an everlafting kingdom, and all dominions thall ferve and obey him.

18 Hitherto is the end of the matter. As for me Daniel, my cogitations much troubled me, and my countenance changed in me: but I kept the matter in my heart.

CHAP. VIII

Daniel's vifion of the ram and be goat. 13 The taun 1.ufand three hundred days of facrifice.

IN the third year of the reign of king Belfhazzar a vision appeared unto me, even unto me Daniel, after that which appeared unto me at the first.

2 And 1 faw in a vifion; and it came to pafs, when I faw, that I was at Shuthan in the palace, which is in the province of Elam ; and I faw in a vifion, and I was by the river of Ulai.

3 Then I lifted up mine eyes, and faw, and, behold, there stood before the river a ram which had a horns; and the revo horns were high; but one was higher than the other, and the higher came up last.

4 I faw the ram pufhing weftward, and northward, and fouthward; fo that no bearts raight stand before him, neither was there

Of the fam and he-god. any that could deliver out of his hand; but did according to his will, and became great

s And as I was confidering, behold, an be goat came from the weft on the face of the whole earth, and touched not the ground: and the goat had a notable horn between his eyes.

6 And he came to the ram that had w horns, which I had feen tranding before the river, and ran unto him in the fury of his power.

And I faw him come clofe unto the tam, and he was moved with choler against him, and fmote the ram, and brake his two horns? and there was no power in the ram to ftand before him, but he cast him down to the ground, and ftamped upon him: and there was none that could deliver the ram out of

his hand.

8 Therefore the he-goat waxed very great: and when he was ftrong, the great hora was broken; and for it came up four notable ones toward the four winds of heaven.

And out of one of them came forth a little horn, which waxed exceeding great, toward the fouth, and toward the cart, and toward the pleasant land.

10 And it waxed great, even to the hof of heaven; and it cant down feme of the hot and of the ftars to the ground, and itamper upon them.

Yea, he magnified bimjelf even to th prince of the hott, and by him the daily crifice was taken away, and the place of hi fai.ctuary was caft down.

12 And an hott was given him against th daily facrifice by reafon of tranfgreinon, it caft down the truth to the ground; and practifed, and profpered.

13. Then I heard one faint fpeaking, another faint faid unto that certain jatt which fake, How long shall be the vi concerning the daily facrifice, and the t gretion of defolation to give both the fam tuary and the hot to be trodden under foot

14 And he said unto me, Unto two the fand and three hundred days; then hall the fanctuary be cleanfed.

1 And it came to pafs, when I, evenl Daniel, had feen the vifion, and fought for the meaning, then, behold, there stood before t as the appearance of a man.

16 And I heard a man's voice between the banks of Ulai, which caled, and faid, G briel, make this man to understand the tion.

17 So he came near where I ftood: and when he came I was afraid, and fell upon y

face: but he said unto me, Understand, all of man: for at the time of the end ball be the vision,

18 Now as he was fpeaking with me, I wa in a deep sleep on my face toward the ground: but he touched me, and fet me upright.

19 And he faid, Behold, I will make thee know what shall be in the last end of the in dignation: for at the time appointed the end all be.

20 The ram which thou faweit having two horns, are the kings of Media and Perfia.

21 And the rough goat is the king of Grecia: and the great horn that is between his eyes, is the first king.

22 Now that being broken, whereas fou ftood up for it, four kingdoms thali, ftan

ap out of the nation, but not in his power. 23 And in the latter time of their king. dom, when the tranfgrefors are come to the full, a king of fierce countenance, and under#tanding dark fentences, fhall ftand up.

24 And his power shall be mighty, but not by his own power: and he thall deftroy wonderfully, and thall profper, and practife, and shall defroy the nighty and the holy people.

25 And through his policy ako he that caule craft to profper in his hand; and he fall magnify bimfelf in his heart, and by peace fhall destroy many he thall alfo stand up against the Prince of princes; but he thall be broken without hand."

26 And the vifion of the evening and the morning which was told is true: wherefore fhut thou up the vilion; for it shall be for many days.

27 And I Daniel fainted, and was fick cer. tain days afterward I rofe up, and did the king's bufinefs; and I was aftonished at the vifion, but none understood it. CHAP. IX.

3 Daniel confeffeth his fins, 16 prayeth for the refloration of Jerufalem: 26 Gabriel in. formeth him of the feventy weeks, IN the first year of Darius the fon of Ahafuerus, of the feed of the Medes, which was made king over the realm of the Chaldeans;

2 In the first year of his reign, I Daniel understood by books the number of the years, whereof the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah the prophet, that he would accomplith feventy years in the defolations of Jerufalem.

3 And I fet my face unto the Lord Gon, to feek by prayer and fupplications, with falling, and fackcloth, and afhes:

4 And I prayed unto the LORD my God, and made my confeffion, and faid, O Lord, the great and dreadful God, keeping the covenant and mercy to them that love him, and to them that keep his commandments;

5 We have finned, and have committed iniquity, and have done wickedly, and have rebelled, even by departing from thy precepts, and from thy judgments:

6 Neither have we hearkened unto thy fervants the prophets, which fpake in thy name to our kings, our princes, and our fathers, and to all the people of the land.

7 O Lord, righteoufnefs belongeth unto thee, but unto us confusion of faces, as at this day; to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerufalem, and unto all Ifrael, that are near, and that are far off, through all the countries whither thou hart driven them, because of their trespass that they have tretpaffed against thee.

8 O Lord, to us belongeth confusion of face, to our kings, to our princes, and to our fa thers, because we have finned against thee.

y To the Lord our God belong mercies and forgiveneffes, though we have rebelled agaiuft him;

10 Neither have we obeyed the voice of the LORD our God, to walk in his laws, which he fet before us by his fervants the prophets.

Yea, all Ifrael have tranfgreffed thy law, even by departing, that they might not obey hy voice; therefore the curfe is poured upon

prayer for Ferufalem: us, and the oath that is written in the law of Mofes the fervant of God, because we have finned against him.

12 And he hath confirmed his words, which he spake againit us, and against our judges that judged us, by bringing upon us a great evil: for under the whole heaven hath not been done as hath been done upon Jerufalem.

13 As it is written in the law of Mofes, all this evil is come upon as yet made we not our prayer before the LORD our God, that we might turn from our iniquities, and under. ftand thy truth.

14 Therefore hath the LORD watched upon the evil, and brought it upon us: tor the LORD our God is righteous in all his works which he doeth: for we obeyed not his voice.

15 And now, O Lord our God, that haft brought thy people forth out of the land of Egypt with a mighty hand, and haft gotten thee renown, as at this day; we have finned, we have done wickedly.

16 O Lord, according to all thy righ teoufnefs, 1 befeech thee, let thine anger and thy fury be turned away from thy city Jeru falem, thy holy mountain: because for our fins, and for the iniquities of our fathers, Jerufalem and thy people are become a re proach to all that are about us.

17 Now therefore, O our God, hear the prayer of thy fervant, and his fupplications, and caufe thy face to thine upon thy fanćtuary that is defolate, for the Lord's fake.

18 0 my God, incline thine ear, and hear; open thine eyes, and behold our defolations, and the city which is called by thy name: for we do not prefent our fupplications before thee for our righteousnesses, but for thy great

mercies.

19 O Lord, hear; O Lord, forgive; O Lord, hearken, and do; defer not, for thine own fake, O my God: for thy city and thy people are called by thy name.

20 And while I was fpeaking, and praying, and confeffing my fin, and the fin of my people lirael, and prefenting my fupplication before the LORD my God for the holy moun tain of my God;

21 Yea, while I was fpeaking in prayer, even the man Gabriel, whom I had feen in the vision at the beginning, being caufed to fly fwiftly, touched me about the time of the evening oblation.

22 And he informed me, and talked with me, and faid, O Daniel, I am now come forth to give thee ikill and understanding.

23 At the beginning of thy fupplications the commandment came forth, and I am come to fhew aber; for thou art greatly be loved: therefore understand the matter, and confider the vifion.

24 Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people, and upon thy holy city, to finish the tranfgreffion, and to make an end of fins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlafting righteoufnefs, and to feal up the vifion and prophecy, and to anoint the Moit Holy.

45 Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerufalem unto the Mciliah the Prince shall be leven weeks, and threefcore and two weeks: the_firget shall be

[merged small][ocr errors][ocr errors]
[blocks in formation]

26 And after threefcore and two weeks fhall Meffiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that fhall come fhall deftroy the city and the fanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war defolations are determined.

The overthrow of Perfe

14 Now I am come to make thee underita what shall befal thy people in the latter days for yet the vifion is for many days.

15 And when he had fpoken fuch words unto me, I fet my face toward the ground, and I became dumb.

16 And, behold, one like the fimilitude of the fons of me touched my lips: then I opened my mouth, and fpake, and faid unto 27 And he shall confirm the covenant with him that food before me, O my lord, by the many for one week and in the midst of the vifion my forrows are turned upon me, and week he thall cause the facrifice and the obla. I have retained no ftrength. tion to ceafe, and for the overfpreading of abominations he shall make it defolate, even until the confummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the defolate.

CHAP. X.

1 Daniel, having humbled bimfelf, feeth a
vision: 10 being troubled with fear, he is
comforted by an angel.
IN the third year of Cyrus king of Perfia, a
thing was revealed unto Daniel, whofe
name was called Beltethazzar; and the thing
was true, but the time appointed was long:
and he understood the thing, and had under.
standing of the vifion.

2 In thofe days I Daniel was mourning three full weeks.

3 I ate no pleasant bread, neither came flesh nor wine in my mouth, neither did I anoint myfelf at all, till three whole weeks were fulfilled.

4 And in the four and twentieth day of the firit month, as I was by the fide of the great river, which is Hiddekel;

5 Then I lifted up mine eyes, and looked, and, behold a certain man clothed in linen, whofe loins were girded with fine gold of Uphaz:

6 His body alfo was like the beryl, and his face as the appearance of lightning, and his eyes as lamps of fire, and his arras and his feet like in colour to polished brass, and the voice of his words like the voice of a mulLitude.

7 And I Daniel alone faw the vifion for the men that were with me faw not the vition; but a great quaking fell upon them, fo that they flea to hide themselves.

8 Therefore I was left alone, and faw this great vifion, and there remained no ftrength in me: for my comelinefs was turned in me into corruption, and I retained no strength.

9 Yet heard I the voice of his words: and when I heard the voice of his words, then was I in a deep fleep on my face, and my face toward the ground,

10 And, behold, an hand touched me, which fet me upon my knees and upon the palms of my hands,

11 And he faid unto me, O Daniel, a man greatly beloved, understand the words that I fpeak unto thee, and ftand upright: for unto thee am I now fent. And when he had spoken this word unto me, I ftood trembling.

12 Then faid he unto me, Fear not, Daniel: for from the frit day that thou didft fet thine heart to understand, and to chafen thyself before thy God, thy words were heard, and I am come for thy words.

13 But the prince of the kingdom of Perfia withstood me one and twenty days: but, lo, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me; and I remained there with the kings

of Perfia.

17 For how can the fervant of this my lord talk with this my lord? For as for me, traightway there remained no ftrength in me, neither is there breath left in me.

18 Then there came again and touched me one like the appearance of a man, and he strengthened me,

19 And faid, O man greatly beloved, fear not: peace be unto thee, be strong, yea, be ftrong. And when he had spoken unto me, I was ftrengthened, and faid, Let my lord fpeak; for thou haft ftrengthened me.

20 Then faid he, Knowett thou wherefore I come unto thee? and now will I return to fight with the prince of Perfia: and when i am gane forth, lo, the prince of Grecia shall come

21 But I will fhew thee that which is noted in the fcripture of truth: and there is not that holdeth with me in there things, bu Michael your prince.

CHAP. XI.

The overthrow of Persia by the king of Gra cia. 5 Kings of the north and fouth, 30 94 invasion and tyranny of the Romans. ALSO I in the first year of Darius the Med en him.

even I, stood to confirm and to strengt

2 And now will I hew thee the truth Behold, there fhall ftand up yet three king in Perfia; and the fourth thall be far richt than they all and by his ftrength through he riches he thall ftir up all againit the realm of Grecia.

3 And a mighty king fhall ftand up, that fall rule with great dominion, and do as cording to his will.

4 And when he thall ftand up, his kingdom fhall be broken, and thall be divided toward the four winds of heaven; and not to his po terity, nor according to his dominion whi he ruled for his kingdom thall be plucked up, even for others befide those.

5 And the king of the fouth fhall be ftrong, and one of his princes; and he thal be strong above him, and have dominion; his dominion fall be a great dominion.

6 And in the end of years they hall join themselves together; for the king's daughter of the fouth thall come to the king of the north to make an agreement: but the fhall not retain the power of the arm: neither thall he ftand, nor his arm: but the shall be given up, and they that brought her, and he that begat her, and he that strengthened her in these times.

7 But out of a branch of her roots fhall one! ftand up in his eftate, which shall come with an army, and thall enter into the fortress ef the king of the north, and shall deal against them, and shall prevail:

8 And thail alfo carry captives into Egyp their gods, with their princes, and with their

Leagues and confils between

Chap. xi. precious veffels of filver and of gold; and he ball continue more years than the king of the north.

9 So the king of the fouth fhall come into bis kingdom, and thall return into his own land.

10 But his fons fhall be ftirred up, and shall aflemble a multitude of great forces: and one thall certainly come, and overflow, and país through: then fhail he return, and be stirred up, even to his fortrefs.

11 And the king of the fouth shall be moved with choler, and thall come forth and fight with him, even with the king of the north: and he thall fet forth a great multitude; but the multitude thall be given into his hand.

12 And when he hath taken away the multitude, his heart fhall be lifted up; and he fhall caft dowo many ten thousands: but he thall not be ftrengthened by it.

13 For the king of the north shall return, and shall fet forth a multitude greater than the former, and thall certainly come after certain years with a great army and with much riches.

14 And in thofe times there fhall many ftand up against the king of the fouth: alfo the robbers of thy people thall exalt themselves to establish the vifion; but they shall fall.

15 So the king of the north thall come, and cart up a mount, and take the mott fenced cities; and the arms of the fouth fhall not withstand, neither his chofen people, neither all there be any ftrength to withitand.

16 But he that cometh against him fhall do according to his own will, and none thall ftand before him: and he thail stand in the glorious land, which by his hand thall be confumed,

17 He thall alfo fet his face to enter with the strength of his whole kingdom, and upright ones with him; thus thall he do: and he thall give him the daughter of women, corrupting her: but the thall not fland on his fide, neither be for him.

18 After this thall he turn his face unto the ffles, and fhall take many: but a prince for his own behalf thall caufe the reproach offered by him to ceafe; without his own reproach he fhall cause it to turn upon him.

19 Then he hall turn his face toward the fort of his own land: but he shall ftumble and fall, and not be found.

20 Then thall ftand up in his estate a raiser of taxes in the glory of the kingdom: but within few days he shall be destroyed, neither in anger, nor in battle.

21 And in his eftate thall ftand up a vile perfon, to whom they shall not give the honour of the kingdom: but he fall come in peace. ably, and obtain the kingdom by flatteries.

21 And with the arms of a flood fhall they be overflown from bore him, and fhall be broken; yea, alfo the prince of the

Covenant.

23 And after the league made with him he fhall work deceitfully: for he shall come up, and thall become strong with a small people."

24 He shall enter peaceably even upon the fatteft places of the province; and he thall do that which his fathers have not done; nor his fathers' fathers; he fhall fcatter among them the prey, and spoil, and riches: pea, and he hall forecast his devices against the irong holis, even for a time.

the kings of the north and fouth 25 And he shall ftir up his power and his courage against the king of the fouth with a great army; and the king of the fouth fhail be stirred up to battle with a very great and mighty army; bat e thall not stand: for they shall forecast devices against him.

26 Yea, they that feed of the portion of his meat fhall destroy him, and his army thall overflow: and many thail fall down flain.

27 And both thefe kings' hearts ball be to do mischief, and they fhall fpeak lies at one table; but it thall not profper: for yet the end shall be at the time appointed.

28 Then shall he return into his land with great riches; and his heart shall be against the holy covenant; and he thall do exploits, and return to his own land.

29 At the time appointed he shall return and come toward the fouth; but it thall not be as the former, or as the latter.

30 For the thips of Chittim shall come again him therefore he thall be grieved, and returu, and have indignation against the holy covenant: fo thall he do; he shall even return, and have intelligence with them that forfake the holy covenant.

31 And arms fhall ftand on his part, and they fall pollute the fanctuary of strength, and thair take away the daily facrifice, and they shall place the abomination that mak eth defolate.

32 And fuch as do wickedly against the covenant fhall he corrupt by flatteries: but the people that do know their God thall be ftrong, and do exploits.

33 And they that underfland among the people thall inffruct many: yet they thall fall by the fword, and by fame, by captivity, and by spoil, many days.

34 Now when they hall fall, they shall be holpen with a little help: but many fhall cleave to them with flatteries.

35 And Jome of them of understanding shall fall, to try them, and to purge, and to make them white, even to the time of the end': because it is yet for a time appointed.

36¶And the king fhall do according to his will; and he fhall exalt himself, and magnify himself above every god, and thall speak marvellous things against the God of gods, and thall profper till the indignation be ac complished: for that that is determined thall be done.

37 Neither hall he regard the god or his fathers, nor the defire of women, nor regard any god: for he thall magnify himself above all.

38 But in his eftate hall he honour the God of forces and a god whom his fathers know not shall he honour with gold, and filver, and with precicus ftones, and pleafant things.

39 Thus thall he do in the most firong holds with a range god, whom he fhall acknowledge and increase with glory: and he shall caufe ther to rute over many, and thall divide the land for gain.

40 And at the time of the end fhall the king of the fouth pufh at him: snd the king of the north that come against him like a whirlwind, with chariots, and with horfe men, and with many thips; and he thall enter into the countries, and thall overdow and pats over,

41 HC hall enter alfo into the glorious land, and many countries thall be overthrown:
