A

ND the LORD fpake unto Mofes, faying, 2 See, I have called by name Bezaleel the fon of Uri, the fon of Hur, of the tribe of Judah:

3 And I have filled him with the spirit of God, in wifdom, and in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all manner of work. manfhip,

4 To devife cunning works, to work in gold, and in filver, and in brass,

5 And in cutting of stones, to fet them, and in carving of timber, to work in all manner of workmanship.

6 And I, behold, I have given with him Aholiab, the son of Ahifamach, of the tribe of Dan: and in the hearts of all that are wife. hearted have put wisdom, that they may make all that I have commanded thee;

7 The tabernacle of the congregation, and the ark of the teftimony, and the mercy. feat that is thereupon, and all the furniture of the tabernacle,

8 And the table and his furniture, and the pure candleftick with all his furniture, and the altar of incenfe,

12 And the LORD fpake unto Mofes, fay. ing,

13 Speak thou alfo unto the children of Ifrael, faying, Verily my fabbaths ye thall keep: for it is a fign between me and you throughout your generations; that ye may know that I am the LORD that doth fanctity you.

14 Ye shall keep the fabbath therefore; for it is holy unto you: every one that defileth it thail farely be put to death: for whosoever doeth any work therein, that foul thall be cut off from among his people.

17 It is a fign between me and the children of Ifrael for ever: for in fix days the LORD made heaven and earth, and on the feventh day he refted, and was refreshed.

18 And he gave unto Mofes, when he had made an end of communing with him upon mount Sinai, two tables of teftimony, tables of stone, written with the finger of God. CHAP. XXXII.

14 And the LORD repented of the evil which he thought to do unto his people.

15 And Mofes turned, and went down from the mount, and the two tables of the teftimony were in his hand: the tables were written on both their fides; on the one fide and on the other were they written.

16 And the tables were the work of God, and the writing was the writing of God gra ven upon the tables.

2 And Aaron faid unto them, Break off the golden ear-rings which are in the ears of your wives, of your fons, and of your daughters, and bring them unto me.

3 And all the people brake off the golden ear-rings which were in their ears, and brought them unto Aaron.

4 And he received them at their hand, and fashioned it with a graving tool, after he had made it a molten calf: and they faid, Thefe be thy gods, O Ifrael, which brought thee up out of the land of Fgypt.

5 And when Aaron faw it, he built an altar before it; and Aaron made proclamation, and faid, To-morrow is a feaft to the LORD.

6 And they rofe up early on the morrow, and offered burnt-offerings, and brought peace-offerings; and the people fat down to eat and to drink, and rofe up to play.

7 And the LORD faid unto Mofes, Go, get thee down; for thy people, which thou broughteft out of the land of Egypt, have corrupted themselves:

8 They have turned afide quickly out of the way which I commanded them: they have made then a molten calf, and have worthipped it, and have facrificed thereunto, and faid, Thefe be thy gods, O Ifrael, which have brought thee up out on the land of Egypt.

9 And the LORD faid unto Mofes, I have feen this people, and, behold, it is a fi necked people:

Jo Now therefore let me alone, that my wrath may wax hot against them, and that I may consume them: and I will make of thee a great nation.

11 And Mofes befought the LORD his God, and faid, LORD, why doth thy wrath wax hot against thy people, which thou haft brought forth out of the land of Egypt with great power, and with a mighty hand?

12 Wherefore fhould the Egyptians fpeak, and fay, for mischief did he bring them out to flay them in the mountains, and to con fume them from the face of the earth? Turn from thy fierce wrath, and repent of this evil againft thy people.

13 Remember Abraham, Ifaac, and Ifrael,

18 And he faid, It is not the voice of them that shout for mastery, neither is it the voice of them that cry for being overcome: but the noife of them that fing do I hear.

19 And it came to país, as foon as he came nigh unto the camp, that he faw the calf, and the dancing: and Mofes's anger waxed hot, and he caft the tables out of his hands, and brake them beneath the mount.

20 And he took the calf which they had made, and burnt it in the fire, and ground to powder, and strewed it upon the water, and made the children of Ifrael drink of it.

21 And Mofes faid unto Aaron, What did this people unto thee, that thou haft brought fo great a fin upon them?

22 And Aaron faid, Let not the anger of my lord wax hot: thou knoweft the people, that they are fet on mischief.

23 For they faid unto me, Make us gods, which thall go before us: for as for this Mo fes, the man that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him.

24 And I faid unto them, Whofoever hath any gold, let them break it off. So they gave it me: then I caft it into the fire, and there came out this calf.

25 And when Mofes faw that the people were naked; (for Aaron had made them na ked unto their fhame among their enemies:)

26 Then Mofes flood in the gate of the camp, and faid, Who is on the LORD's fide! let him come unto me. And all the fons of Levi gathered themselves together unto him.

27 And he faid unto them, Thus faith the LORD God of Ifrael, Put every man his sword by his fide, and go in and out from gate to gate throughout the camp, and flay every man his brother, and every man his com panion, and every man his neighbour.

28 And the children of Levi did according to the word of Mofes: and there fell of the people that day about three thousand men.

29 For Mofes had faid, Confecrate your felves to-day to the LORD, even every man upon his fon, and upon his brother; that he may bestow upon you a bleffing this day.

30 And it came to pafs on the morrow, that Mofes faid unto the people, Ye have finned a great fin; and now I will go up unte the LORD; peradventure I fhall make au atonement for your fin.

31 And Mofes returned unto the Lorn, and faid, Oh, this people have finned a great f and have made them gods of gold.

Chap. xxxiii, xxxiv.

3a Yet now, if thou wilt, forgive their fin; and if not, blot me, I pray thee, out of thy book which thou haft written.

33 And the LORD faid unto Mofes, Whofoever hath finned against me, him will 1 blot out of my hook.

34 Therefore now go, lead the people unto the place of which I have fpoken unto thee. Behold, mine angel fhall go before thee: nevertheless, in the day when I vifit I will visit their fin upon them.

35 And the LORD plagued the people, becaule they made the calf, which Aaron made. CHAP. XXXIII.

1 The Lord refafeth to go with the people. The Lord talketh with Mofes. 12 Mofes defireth to fee the glory of God.

AND the LORD faid unto Mofes, Depart and go up hence, thou and the people which thou han brought up out of the land of Egypt, unto the land which I fware unto Abraham, to faac, and to Jacob, faying, Unto thy feed will I give it :

2 And I will fend an angel before thee; and I will drive out the Canaanite, the Amorite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebufite:

3 Unto a land flowing with milk and honey: for I will not go up in the midft of thee; for thou art a ftift-necked people: left I confume thee in the way.

4 And when the people heard thefe evil tidings, they mourned: and no man did put

on him his ornaments.

5 For the LORD had faid unto Mofes, Say unto the children of lfrael, Ye are a stiffnecked people: I will come up into the midst of thee in a moment, and confume thee: therefore now put off thy ornaments from thee, that I may know what to do unto thee. 6 And the children of Ifrael ftripped themfelves of their ornaments by the mount Horeb.

7 And Mofes took the tabernacle, and pitched it without the camp, afar off from the camp, and called it the Tabernacle of the Congregation. And it came to pafs, that every one which fought the LORD went out unto the tabernacle of the congregation, which was without the camp.

And it came to país, when Mofes went out unto the tabernacle, that all the people rofe up, and hood every man at his tent door, and looked after Moles, until he was gone into the tabernacle.

9 And it came to pafs, as Mofes entered into the tabernacic, the cloudy pillar defcended, and flood at the door of the taber nacle, and the LORD talked with Mofes.

10 And all the people faw the cloudy pil. lar ftand at the tabernacle-door: and all the people rofe up and worshipped, every nian in his tent.door.

11 And the LORD fpake unto Mofes face to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend. And he turned again into. e camp: but his fervant Jofua, the fon of Nun, a young man, departed not out of the tabernacle.

12 And Mofes faid unto the LORD, See, thou fayett unto me, Bring up this people and thou haft not let me know whom thon wilt fend with me. Yet thou haft faid, I know thee by name, and thou haft alfo found grace in my fight.

16 For wherein thall it be known here that I and thy people have found grace in thy fight? Is it not in that thou goeft with us? So thall we be feparated, I and thy people, from all the people that are upon the face of the earth.

17 And the LORD faid unto Mofes, I will do this thing alfo that thou haft spoken: for thou hast found grace in my fight, and I kjow thee by name.

19 And he faid, I will make all my goodnefs pals before thee, and I will proclaim the name of the LORD before thee; and will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will fhew mercy on whom I will fhew mercy.

20 And he faid, Thou canst not fee my face: for there fhall no man fee me, and live.

21 And the LORD faid, Behold, there is a place by me, and thou shalt ftand upon a

rock:

22 And it shall come to pass, while my glory paleth by, that I will put thee in a cleft of the rock, and will cover thee with my hand while I país by:

ND the LORD faid unto Mofes, Hew thee two tables of stone like unto the firit: and I will write upon thefe tables the words that were in the firft tables, which thou brakeft.

a And be ready in the morning, and come up in the morning unto mount Sinai, and prefent thyself there to me in the top of the mount.

3 And no man fhall come up with thee, neither let any man be feen throughout all the mount; neither let the flocks nor herds feed before that mount.

4 And be hewed two tables of ftone like unto the firft; and Mofes rofe up early in the morning, and went up unto mount Sinai, as the LORD had commanded him, and took in his hand the two tables of itone.

5 And the LORD descended in the cloud, and flood with him there, and proclaimed

the name of the LORD.

6 And the LORD paffed by before him, and proclaimed, The LORD, The LORD God, merciful and gracious, long-futtering, and abundant in goodness and truth,

Keeping mercy for thoufands, forgiving iniquity and tranfgreftion and fin, and that will by no means clear the guilty; vifiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children's children, unto the third and to the fourth generation.

8 And Mofes made hafte, and bowed his head toward the earth, and worshipped.

God's covenant.

EXODUS. 9 And he faid, If now I have found grace In thy fight, O LORD, let my Lord, I pray thee, go among us; for it is a ftin-necked people; and pardon our iniquity and our fin, and take us for thine inheritance.

ICAnd he faid, Behold, I make a covenant: before all thy people I will do mavels, fuch as have not been done in all the earth, nor in any nation: and all the people among which thou art thall fee the work of the LORD: for it is a terrible thing that I will do with thee.

11 Obferve thou that which I command thee this day: Behold, I drive out before thee the Amorite, and the Canaanite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, and the Hi. vite, and the Jebusite.

12 Take heed to thyself, left thou me a covenant with the inhabitants of the land whither thou goeft, let it be for a fnare in the midft of thee:

13 But ye fhall deftroy their altars, break their images, and cut down their groves:

14 For thou shalt worship no other god for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God:

15 Left thou make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land, and they go a whor. ing after their gods, and do facrifice unto their gods, and one call thee, and thou eat of his facrifice;

16 And thou take of their daughters unto thy fons, and their daughters go a whoring after their gods, and make thy fons go a whoring after their gods.

17 Thou shalt make thee no molten gods. 18¶ The feaft of unleavened bread fhalt thou keep. Seven days fhalt thou eat unleavened bread, as I commanded thee, in the time of the month Abib: for in the month Abib thou cameft out from Egypt.

zo But the firstling of an afs thou fhalt re. deem with a lamb and if thou redeem him not, then shalt thou break his neck. All the firftborn of thy fons thou shalt redeem. And none shall appear before me empty.

22 And thou shalt obferve the feast of weeks, of the first-truits of wheat-harveft, and the feaft of in-gathering at the year's end.

23 Thrice in the year fhall all your men. children appear before the LORD God, the God of Ifrael.

24 For I will caft out the nations before thee, and enlarge thy borders: neither thall any man defire thy land, when thou shalt go up to appear before the LORD thy God thrice in the year.

25 Thou shalt not offer the blood of my facrifice with leaven; neither fhall the fa crifice of the feaft of the paffover be left unto the morning.

26 The first of the firft-fruits of thy land thou shalt bring unto the houfe of the LORD thy God. Thou shalt not feethe a kid in his mother's milk.

27 And the LORD faid unto Mofes, Write

thou these words: for after the tenor of thefe words I have made a covenant with thee and with Ifrael.

Of the fabbath. 28 And he was there with the LORD forty days and forty nights; he did neither eat bread, nor drink water. And he wrote upon the tables the words of the covenant, the ten commandments.
