CHAPTER XI. 1 Peter accused for going to the Gentiles.... 19 The gospel is AND the apostles and brethren that were in Ju dea, heard that the Gentiles had also received the word of God. Mat. 10, that are commanded thee of God. 8 But I said, Not so, Lord: for nothing common or unclean hath at any time entered into my mouth. 9 But the voice answered me again from heaven, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common. 10 And this was done three times: and all were drawn up again into heaven. 11 And, behold, immediately there were three men already come unto the house where I was, sent from Cesarea unto me. 12 And the Spirit bade me go with them, nothing doubting. Moreover, these six brethren accompanied me; and we entered into the man's house : 13 And he shewed us how he had seen an angel in his house, which stood and said unto him, Send men to Joppa, and call for Simon, whose surname is Peter; 14 Who shall tell thee words, whereby thou and all thy house shall be saved. 15. And as I began to speak, the Holy Ghost fell e chap. 2,4 on them, as on us at the beginning. 16 Then remembered I the word of the Lord, Mat. 8,11 how that he said, John indeed baptized with water; 41Not to all the people, but unto witnesses cho-but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost. sen before of God, even to us, who did eat and drink 15,25.44, with him after he rose from the dead. 43. To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins. 44 1 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word. 45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost: 46 For they heard them speak with tongues, and Roin. 14, 10. magnify God. And he departed, and went into another place. 18 Now as soon as it was day, there was no small stir among the soldiers, what was become of Peter. 19 And when Herod had sought for him, and found him not, he examined the keepers, and commanded that they should be put to death. And his chains fell off from his hands. And the angel said unto him, Gird thyseli, and bind on thy sandals: and so he did. And he saith unto him. Dissension about circumcision. done with them, and how he had opened the door of 28 And there they abode long time with the disciples 1 Dissension about circumcision : 6 the apostles consult about A ND certain men which came down from Judea, taught the brethren, and said, Except ye be circumcised after the manner of Moses, ye cannot be saved. 2 When therefore Paul and Barnabas had no small dissension and disputation with them, they determined that Paul and Barnabas, and certain other of them, should go up to Jerusalem, unto the apostles and elders, about this question. CHAPTER XVI. 1 Paul circumciseth Timothy.... 14 Lydia converted. 6 Now when they had gone throughout Phrygia and the region of Galatia, and were forbidden of the Holy Ghost to preach the word in Asia; 2 Cor. 2, 12 2 Tim. 4, 7 After they were come to Mysia, they assayed to go into Bithynia: but the Spirit suffered them not. 8° And they passing by Mysia, came down to ech. 20, 6. Troas. 91 And a vision appeared to Paul in the night: 18 There stood a man of Macedonia, and prayed him, saying, Come over into Macedonia, and help us. 10 And after he had seen the vision, immediately fch. 10 we endeavoured to go into Macedonia, assuredly gathering that the Lord had called us for to preach the gospel unto them. 11 Therefore loosing from Troas, we came with a straight course to Samothracia, and the next day to Neapolis; 12 And from thence to Philippi, which is the chief city of that part of Macedonia, and a colony. And we were in that city abiding certain days. 22" And the multitude rose up together against them: and the magistrates rent off their clothes, and 1 Thes. 2.2 be-commanded to beat them. 23° And when they had laid many stripes upon Rev 22, 18.
