ABOUT THE BOOK In the Bible, the Book of Judges tells the story of Israel during the era following their entrance into, and partial conquest of, the land of Canaan. The first Judge of Israel during those days was Othniel, the nephew and son-in-law of Caleb. Before he became a Judge, Othniel asks his own father, Kenaz (Caleb's younger brother) to tell him more about his uncle. Kenaz's response is a story of adventure and emotion, of life and death, carried out over more than forty years, covering the Israelites' travels from Egypt to The Promised Land. It is the story of a remarkable man known as Caleb. ABOUT THE AUTHOR Born and raised in New Rochelle, NY, Frank Hummel is a 1954 graduate of Cornell University.
