5 Then shall he speak unto them in his anger,

And terrify them in his wrath, 6 "But as for me, I have set my king

I will declare the decree: Jehovah

Said unto me,

It is I, this day, that have begotten thee." 8 "Ask of me, and I will give the nations for

Now, therefore, O kings, understand : Be instructed, O judges of the earth. 11 Serve Jehovah with fear,

And rejoice with trembling.
12 Kiss the Son, lest he be angry,
And ye perish from the way;

For soon will his anger be kindled.
Blessed are all those that take refuge in him.

PSALM III.

A Psalm by David when he fled from Absalom his son.

1

O JEHOVAH, how many are mine adversaries!

Many are those that rise up against me. 2 Many are those that say of my soul,

Selah.

There is no salvation for him in God. 3 But thou, O Jehovah, art a shield about me, My glory, and the lifter up of my head."

4 With my voice will I call upon Jehovah, And he will answer me out of his holy mountain.

5

As for me, I lie down and sleep;

I awake, for Jehovah sustaineth me.

Selah.

6 I fear not the tens of thousands of people, That set themselves against me round about. 7 Rise up, O Jehovah: save me, O my God; For thou wilt smite all mine enemies upon the cheek-bone,

Thou wilt break the teeth of the wicked.

8 Salvation is of Jehovah :b

Thy blessing is upon thy people.

PSALM IV.

For the chief Musician. With stringed instruments. A Psalm by David.

ANSWER me when I call, O my righteous
God:

Thou hast relieved me in trouble,

Be gracious unto me, and hear my prayer.

ye children of men, how long will ye turn my glory into shame ?

How long will ye love vanity and seek after

lies?

Selah.

3 But know that Jehovah hath set apart for him

self his godly one:

Jehovah will hear when I call upon him.

4 Tremble and sin not:

6

Commune with your own heart upon your

bed, and be silent.

Sacrifice the sacrifices of righteousness,
And trust in Jehovah.

Selah.

a Ps. li. 19.

7 Thou hast put more gladness in my heart,

Than in the time that their corn and their

wine increase.

8 In peace, will I both lie down and sleep;
For it is thou alone, O Jehovah,
That makest me dwell safely.

PSALM V.

For the chief Musician. For the flutes. A Psalm by David.

1

GIVE ear to my words, O Jehovah : consider my meditation.

2 Attend unto the voice of my cry, my King,

and my God;

Ι

For unto thee do I pray.

In the morning, O Jehovah, thou shalt hear

my voice;

In the morning will I set my words in order before thee, and watch.

4 For thou art not a God that delighteth in wickedness;

Neither shall evil abide with thee.

5 The arrogant shall not stand before thine

eyes:

Thou hatest all workers of iniquity.

6 Thou wilt destroy those that speak lies:

Jehovah will abhor the man of blood and deceit.

But as for me, in the abundance of thy lovingkindness will I come into thine house :

In the fear of thee, will I worship in thy holy temple."

Guide me, O Jehovah, in thy righteousness because of mine enemies;

Make thy way straight before me;"

9 For there is no faithfulness in his mouth, their inward part is wickedness,

Their throat is an open grave, they flatter with their tongue.

10 Punish them, O God; let them fall by their own counsels;

11

Cast them down in the abundance of their

transgressions; for they have rebelled against thee.

But let all those that take refuge in thee beglad; Let them ever shout for joy, because thou protectest them ;

Yea, let those that love thy name, rejoice in thee; 12 For as for thee, O Jehovah, thou blessest the righteous one;

With favour thou compassest him as with a buckler.
