In that very day his thoughts perish.

5 Blessed is he that hath the God of Jacob for

his help,

Whose hope is in Jehovah his God,

6 That made heaven and earth,

The sea, and all that therein is;
That keepeth truth for ever;

7 That executeth judgment for the oppressed; That giveth bread to the hungry.

Jehovah looseth those that are bound;

8 Jehovah openeth the eyes of the blind; Jehovah raiseth up those that are bowed down; Jehovah loveth the righteous;

9 Jehovah keepeth strangers in safety ;

10

1

He lifteth up the fatherless one, and the widow;

But the way of the wicked he overthroweth.

Jehovah is King for ever,

Even thy God, O Zion, to all generations.
Hallelujah.

PSALM CXLVII.

Hallelujah.

FOR it is good to sing praises to our God; For it is pleasant, and praise is comely.

2 Jehovah buildeth Jerusalem:

He gathereth together the outcasts of Israel.

3 He healeth the broken in heart,

And bindeth up their wounds.

4 He telleth the number of the stars:

He giveth names to them all.

5 Great is our Lord and of great strength; His understanding is infinite.

6 Jehovah lifteth up the lowly;

7

He abaseth the wicked to the earth."

Sing ye unto Jehovah with thanksgiving; Sing ye praises to our God with the harp, 8 Who covereth the heavens with clouds,

Who prepareth rain for the earth,

Who maketh grass to spring up upon the mountains.

9 He giveth to the cattle their food,

And to the young ravens which call.

10 He delighteth not in the might of the horse : He taketh not pleasure in the legs of a man. 11 Jehovah taketh pleasure in those that fear him, In those that hope in his loving-kindness.

12

Laud Jehovah, O Jerusalem;

Praise thy God, O Zion.

13 For he hath strengthened the bars of thy gates;

He hath blessed thy children within thee.

a Prov. iii. 34; xxix. 23; Matt. xxiii. 12.

b Ps. xxxiii. 16-19.

14 He maketh peace in thy borders,

And satisfieth thee with the finest of the

wheat.

15 He sendeth forth his command upon the earth : His word runneth speedily.

16 He giveth snow like wool:

He scattereth abroad the hoar frost like ashes. 17 He casteth forth his ice like morsels :

Who can stand before his cold?

18 He sendeth forth his word and melteth them : He causeth his wind to blow, and the waters

flow.

19 He showeth his word unto Jacob,

His statutes and his judgments unto Israel. 20 He hath not dealt so with any nation; And as for his judgments, they have not known them.

Hallelujah.

PSALM CXLVIII.

Hallelujah.

PRAISE ye Jehovah from the heavens :
Praise ye him in the heights;

2 Praise ye him, all his angels;

Praise ye him, all his hosts; *

3 Praise

ye him, sun and moon; Praise ye him, all ye stars of light;

4 Praise ye him, ye heavens of heavens;

And ye waters that are above the heavens. 5 Let them praise the name of Jehovah ;

For he commanded, and they were created; 6 And he hath established them for ever and

7

ever;

He hath made a decree which shall not pass

away.

Praise

ye Jehovah from the earth: Ye sea-monsters, and all depths;

8 Fire, and hail; snow, and vapour; Stormy wind fulfilling his word;

9 Mountains, and all hills;

Fruit-trees, and all cedars;

10 Beasts, and all cattle;

Creeping things, and winged birds; 11 Kings of the earth, and all peoples; Princes, and all judges of the earth;

12 Both young men, and virgins;

Old men, with children;

13 Let them praise the name of Jehovah; For his name alone is exalted:

His majesty is above the earth and the heavens ;"

14. For he hath exalted the horn of his people,

a Ps. viii. 1.

The praise of all his godly ones,"

Even of the children of Israel, a people near unto him.b

Hallelujah.

1

PSALM CXLIX.

Hallelujah.

SING ye unto Jehovah a new song; And his praise, in the assembly of the godly. 2 Let Israel be glad in his Maker;

Let the children of Zion rejoice in their
King.

3 Let them praise his name with the dance; Let them sing praises to him with the timbrel and harp;

4 For Jehovah taketh pleasure in his people; He beautifieth the lowly with salvation.

5

Let the godly rejoice in glory:

Let them shout for joy upon their beds.
6 Let the praises of God be in their throat,
And a two-edged sword in their hand,
7 To execute vengeance upon the nations,
And punishments upon the peoples;

a Zeph. iii. 19, 20; Deut. xxvi. 19; xxviii. 1.
b Isa. xliv. 23.
