16

Who will rise up for me against the evildoers ?

Who will stand up for me against the workers

of iniquity?

17 Unless Jehovah had been my help,

My soul had soon dwelt in silence : 18 When I said, "My foot is moved,"

Thy loving-kindness, O Jehovah, sustained

me.

19 In the abundance of my thoughts within me, Thy comforts delighted my soul.

20

Shall the throne of wickedness be joined to thee,

Which frameth mischief by a statute?

21 They gather themselves together against the soul of the righteous one,

And condemn the innocent blood.

22 But Jehovah is my high tower,

And my God is the rock of my refuge;

23 And he will render unto them their iniquity,

And will destroy them for their wickedness;
Yea, Jehovah our God will destroy them.

PSALM XCV.

O COME, let us shout for joy unto Jehovah, Let us make a joyful noise unto the rock of

our salvation,

2 Let us come before his presence with thanks

giving,

And make a joyful noise unto him with

3 For Jehovah is a great God,

And a great King above all gods;

songs;

4 In whose hand are the deep places of the earth,

The heights of the mountains are his also; 5 Whose is the sea, for it is he that made it, And his hands formed the dry land.

60 come, let us worship and fall down,

Let us kneel before Jehovah our Maker;

7 For he is our God,

8

And we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand.

To-day, if ye will hear his voice,*
Harden not your heart, as at Meribah,

As in the day of Massah, in the wilderness,

a Ps. lxxxi. 8.

b Exod. xvii. 7.

9 When your fathers proved me;

They tried me, though they saw my work.

10 Forty years long was I grieved with this

generation,

And said, "They are a people that go astray

in their heart;

"And as for them they know not my ways;'

11 Wherefore I sware in mine anger,

They shall not come into

PSALM XCVI.

SING unto Jehovah a new song,
Sing unto Jehovah, all the earth,

2 Sing unto Jehovah, bless his name,

Publish his salvation from day to day.

3 Declare his glory among the nations,

His wonderful works among all the peoples; 4 For great is Jehovah, and exceedingly to be praised,

Terrible is he above all gods;

5 For all the gods of the peoples are idols, But Jehovah made the heavens.

6 Majesty and honour are before him,

a Heb. iii. 7-11; iv. 3, 5.

b 1 Chron. xvi. 23–33.

7

Strength and glory are in his sanctuary.

Give unto Jehovah, O ye families of the peoples,

Give unto Jehovah glory and strength.

8 Give unto Jehovah the glory due unto his

name:

Bring an offering and come into his courts. 9 Worship Jehovah in the beauty of holiness:* Tremble at his presence all the earth.

10 Say among the nations, "Jehovah is King; "The world also is established, that it cannot

be moved;b

'He will judge the peoples with equity."

Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice,

Let the sea roar, and the fulness thereof,

12 Let the field rejoice, and all that is therein. Then shall all the trees of the forest shout for

joy

13 Before Jehovah; for he is come,

For he is come to judge the earth:

He will judge the world with righteousness;
And the peoples with his faithfulness.

a Ps. xxix. 1, 2.

b Ps. xciii. 1.

PSALM XCVII.

1 JEHOVAH is King: let the earth rejoice,

2

Let the many isles thereof be glad.

Clouds and darkness are round about him: Righteousness and judgment are the foundation of his throne."

3 A fire goeth before him,

And burneth up his adversaries round about. 4 His lightnings lightened the world:

The earth saw and trembled.

5 The mountains melted like wax at the presence of Jehovah,b

At the presence of the Lord of all the earth. 6 The heavens showed forth his righteousness, And all the peoples saw his glory.

7 Let all those be ashamed that serve graven images,

8

That glory in idols.

Worship him, all ye angels.a

Zion heard and was glad,

And the daughters of Judah rejoiced,
