The princes of Judah with their crowd,

The princes of Zebulun, and the princes of
Naphtali.

Thy God hath commanded strength for thee.

Strengthen, O God, that which thou hast

wrought for us.

29 Because of thy temple at Jerusalem Shall kings bring presents unto thee.

30 Rebuke the beast of the reed,

The congregation of bulls, with the calves of the peoples,

Hastening with picces of silver:

Scatter thou the peoples that delight in war. 31 Princes shall come out of Egypt;

32

Ethiopia shall stretch out her hands unto God.

Sing unto God, O ye kingdoms of the earth; Sing praises to my Lord;

Selah.

33 To him that rideth through the heavens,"

even the heavens of old.

Lo, he uttereth his voice, and that a strong

voice.

34 Ascribe ye strength unto God:

His majesty is over Israel, and his strength is

in the skies.

a Deut. xxxiii. 26; Matt. xxiv. 30.

35 O God, thou art terrible, in thy coming forth

from thy sanctuary.

He is the God of Israel:

He giveth strength and power unto his people,
Blessed be God.

SAVE me, O God; for the waters are come in unto my soul.

2 I sink in deep mire, where there is no stand

ing;

I am come into deep waters, where the flood overfloweth me.

3 I am weary with calling; my throat is dried; Mine eyes fail whilst I wait for my God. 4 Those that hate me without cause are more than the hairs of my head;

Those that would destroy me, being mine enemies wrongfully, are mighty :

Then I restored that which I robbed not.

5 O God, it is thou that knowest my foolish

ness;

c Lev. vi. 4.

And my sins are not hid from thee.

6 Let not those that wait for thee, O my Lord, Jehovah of Hosts, be ashamed through

me;

Let not those that seek thee, O God of Israel,

be put to confusion through me;

7 Because for thy sake I have borne reproach, Confusion hath covered my face.

8

I am become a stranger unto my brethren,
And an alien unto my mother's children;

9 For the zeal of thy house hath eaten me up,* And the reproaches of those that reproached thee have fallen upon me.b

soul with fast

When I make sackcloth my clothing,

I become a byword to them.

12 Those that sit in the gate speak against me; And I am become the song of those that drink

strong drink.

But as for me, my prayer is unto thee, O
Jehovah, in an acceptable time:

a John ii. 17.

Rom. xv. 3.

Answer me, O God, in the abundance of thy loving-kindness, in the truth of thy

salvation.

14 Deliver me out of the mire, that I sink not;

That I may be delivered from those that hate me, and from the deep waters.

15 Let not the flood of waters overflow me, Nor the deep swallow me up,

Nor the pit shut her mouth upon me. 16 Answer me, O Jehovah; for thy lovingkindness is good."

Turn unto me according to the abundance of thy tender mercies,

17 And hide not thy face from thy servant;

Because I am in trouble, answer me speedily 18 Draw near unto my soul, and redeem it: Redeem me because of mine enemies.

19

It is thou that knowest my reproach, and my shame, and my confusion:

All mine adversaries are before thee.

20 Reproach hath broken my heart, and I am full of heaviness:

And I waited for some to take pity, but there

was none;

And for comforters, but I found them not.

a Ps. cix. 21.

b Ps. xix. 14 (note).

21 They gave me also gall for my

food;

And in my thirst they gave me vinegar to

drink.a

22 Let their table before them become a trap,

And a recompence, and a snare.

23 Let their eyes be darkened, that they may not see;

And make their loins continually to shake." 24 Pour out thine indignation upon them, And let thy wrathful anger overtake them. 25 Let their habitation be desolate,

And let no one dwell in their tents;

26 For they have persecuted him whom thyself hast smitten,

And they speak to the sorrow of thy wounded

ones.

27 Add iniquity unto their iniquity,

And let them not come into thy righteous

ness.

28 Let them be blotted out of the book of the

29

living,

And let them not be written with the right

eous.

But as for me, I am afflicted and sorrowful :
