The people promife obedience. Chap. xxiv, xxv. The offerings for the tabernacle. 26 There fhall nothing caft their people: and they faid, All that the young, nor be barren in thy land: the LORD hath faid, will we do, and be number of thy days I will fulfil. obedient.

27 I will fend my fear before thee, and will deftroy all the people to whom thou fhalt come, and I will make all thine enemies turn their backs unto thee.

28 And I will fend hornets before thee, which fhall drive out the Hivite, the Canaanite, and the Hittite from before thee.

29 I will not drive them out from before thee in one year; left the land become defolate, and the beaft of the field multiply against thee.

30 By little and little I will drive them out from before thee, until thou be increafed, and inherit the land.

31 And I will fet thy bounds from the Red fea even unto the fea of the Philiftines, and from the defert unto the river: for I will deliver the inhabitants of the land into your hand; and thou fhalt drive them out before thee.

32 Thou shalt make no covenant with them, nor with their gods.

33 They fhall not dwell in thy land, left they make thee fin against me: for if thou ferve their gods, it will furely be a fnare unto thee.

CHAP. XXIV. 1 Mofes is called up into the mountain. 3 The people promife obedience. 9 The glory of God appeareth.

Nd he faid unto Mofes, Come up unto the LORD, thou and Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, and feventy of the elders of Ifrael: and worship ye afar off. 2 And Mofes alone fhall come near the LORD: but they fhall not come nigh, neither fhall the people go up with him. 3 And Mofes came and told the people all the words of the LORD, and all the judgments: and all the people anfwered with one voice, and faid, All the words which the LORD hath faid, will we do.

4 And Mofes wrote all the words of the LORD, and rofe up early in the morning, and builded an altar under the hill, and twelve pillars, according to the twelve tribes of Ifrael.

5 And he fent young men of the chil fren of Ifrael, which offered burnt-of ferings, and facrificed peace-offerings of Oxen unto the LORD.

6 And Mofes took half of the blood, and put it in bafons; and half of the blood be fprinkled on the altar.

7 And he took the book of the covenant, and read in the audience of the

8 And Mofes took the blood, and fprinkled it on the people, and faid, Behold, the blood of the covenant, which the LORD hath made with you concerning all these words.

9 Then went up Mofes and Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, and feventy of the elders of Ifrael.

10 And they faw the God of Ifrael: and there was under his feet as it were a paved work of a fapphire-ftone, and as it were the body of heaven in his clearnefs.

II And upon the nobles of the children of Ifrael he laid not his hand: alfo they faw God, and did eat and drink.

12 And the LORD faid unto Mofes, Come up to me into the mount, and be there and I will give thee tables of ftone, and a law, and commandments which I have written; that thou mayft teach them.

13 And Mofes rose up, and his minifter Jofhua: and Mofes went up into the mount of God.

14 And he said unto the elders, Tarry ye here for us, until we come again unto you and behold, Aaron and Hur are with you: if any man have any matters to do, let him come unto them.

15 And Mofes went up into the mount, and a cloud covered the mount.

16 And the glory of the LORD abode upon mount Sinai, and the cloud covered it fix days: and the feventh day he called unto Mofes out of the midft of the cloud.

17 And the fight of the glory of the LORD was like devouring fire on the top of the mount, ip the eyes of the children of Ifrael.

18 And Mofes went into the midft of the cloud, and gat him up into the mount: and Mofes was in the mount forty days, and forty nights.

CHAP. XXV.

The offerings for the tabernacle. so The form of the ark. 17 The mercy-feats 23 the table, 31 and candlestick.

the LORD spake unto Mofes, faying,

2 Speak unto the children of Frael, that they bring me an offering: of eve ry man that giveth it willingly with his heart, ye shall take my offering.

3 And this is the offering which ye fhall take of them; gold, and filver, and brafs,

The ark, mercy-feat, and table.

Exodus. The candlestick and its inftruments.

4 And blue, and purple, and fcarlet, and fine linen, and goats hair,

5 And rams skins died red, and badgers skins, and fhittim-wood,

6 Oyl for the light, fpices for anointing oyl, and for fweet incenfe,

7 Onyx-ftones, and ftones to be fet in the ephod, and in the breaft-plate.

8 And let them make me a fanctuary; that I may dwell amongst them.

9 According to all that I fhew thee, after the pattern of the tabernacle, and the pattern of all the inftruments thereof, even fo fhall ye make it.

10 And they fhall make an ark of fhittim-wood: two cubits and a half ball be the length thereof, and a cubit and a half the breadth thereof, and a cubit and a half the height thereof.

11 And thou shalt overlay it with pure gold, within and without fhalt thou overlay it and fhalt make upon it a crown of gold round about.

12 And thou fhalt caft four rings of gold for it, and put them in the four corners thereof; and two rings fall be in the one fide of it, and two rings in the other fide of it.

13 And thou shalt make ftaves of fhittim-wood, and overlay them with gold. 14 And thou fhalt put the ftaves into the rings, by the fides of the ark, that the ark may be born with them.

15 The ftaves fhall be in the rings of the ark: they fhall not be taken from it. 16 And thou fhalt put into the ark the teftimony which I fhall give thee.

17 And thou fhalt make a mercy-feat of pure gold: two cubits and a half ball be the length thereof, and a cubit and a half the breadth thereof.

18 And thou fhalt make two cherubims of gold: of beaten work fhalt thou make them, in the two ends of the mercy-feat.

19 And make one cherub on the one end, and the other cherub on the other end: even of the mercy-feat fhall ye make the cherubims on the two ends thereof.

20 And the cherubims fhall ftretch forth their wings on high, covering the mercy-feat with their wings, and their faces foall look one to another: toward the mercy-feat fhall the faces of the cherubims be.

and I will commune with thee, from above the mercy-feat, from between the two cherubims which are upon the ark of the teftimony, of all things which I will give thee in commandment unto the children of Israel.

23 Thou shalt alfo make a table of fhittim-wood: two cubits shall be the length thereof, and a cubit the breadth thereof, and a cubit and a half the height thereof.

24 And thou fhalt overlay it with pure gold, and make thereto a crown of gold round about.

25 And thou shalt make unto it a border of an hand-breadth round about, and thou fhalt make a golden crown to the border thereof round about.

26 And thou fhalt make for it four fings of gold, and put the rings in the four corners that are on the four feet thereof. 27 Over against the border fhall the rings be for places of the ftaves to bear the table.

28 And thou shalt make the ftaves fhittim-wood,& overlay them with gold, that the table may be born with them.

29 And thou shalt make the dishes thereof, and (poons thereof, and covers thereof, and bowls thereof, to cover withal: of pure gold fhalt thou make them.

30 And thou fhalt fet upon the table, fhew-bread before me alway.

31 And thou fhalt make a candleftick of pure gold: of beaten work fhall the candlestick be made: his fhaft, and his branches, his bowls, his knops, and his flowers fhall be of the fame.

32 And fix branches fhall come out of the fides of it: three branches of the candlestick out of the one fide, and three branches of the candlestick out of the other fide.

33 Three bowls made like unto almonds, with a knop and a flower in one branch; and three bowls made like almonds in the other branch, with a knop and a flower: fo in the fix branches that come out of the candlestick.

34 And in the candleltick shall be four bowls made like unto almonds, with their knops and their flowers.

35 And there fhall be a knop under two branches of the fame, and a knop under two branches of the fame, and a knop under two branches of the fame,accord

to the fix branches that proceed out of the candlestick.

21 And thou fhalt put the mercy-feating above upon the ark, and in the ark thou fhalt put the teftimony that I fhall give thee.

22 And there I will meet with thee,

36 Their knops and their branches fhall be of the fame: all it fball be one beaten work of pure gold.

The curtains of the tabernacle.

Chap. xxvi.

37 And thou fhalt make the feven lamps thereof; and they fhall light the lamps thereof, that they may give light over against it,

38 And the tongs thereof, and the fnuff-difhes thereof shall be of pure gold. 39 Of a talent of pure gold fhall he make it, with all thefe veffels.

40 And look that thou make them after their pattern, which was fhewed thee in the mount.

bernacle with ten curtains of fine twined linen, and blue, and purple, and fearlet: with cherubims of cunning work fhalt thou make them.

2 The length of one curtain fhall be eight and twenty cubits, and the breadth of one curtain, four cubits and every one of the curtains fhall have one meafare,

3 The five curtains fhall be coupled together one to another:. and other five curtains fall be coupled one to another.

4 And thou fhalt make loops of blue upon the edge of the one curtain, from the felvedge in the coupling and like wife fhalt thou make in the uttermoft edge of another curtain, in the coupling of the fecond.

5 Fifty loops fhalt thou make in the one curtain, and fifty loops fhalt thou make in the edge of the curtain that is in the coupling of the fecond; that the loops may take hold one of another.

6 And thou, fhalt make fifty taches of gold, and couple the curtains together with the taches: and it fhall be one tabernacle.

7 And thou shalt make curtains of goats hair to be a covering upon the tabernacle: eleven curtains fhalt thou make.

8 The length of one curtain fhall be thirty cubits, and the breadth of one curtain, four cubits: and the eleven curtains fball be all of one measure.

9 And thou fhalt couple five curtains by themselves, and fix curtains by themfelves, and fhalt double the fixth curtain in the forefront of the tabernacle.

10 And thou fhalt make fifty loops on the edge of the one curtain that is outmoft in the coupling, and fifty loops in the edge of the curtain which coupleth the fecond.

11 And thou shalt make fifty taches

16 Ten cubits fhall be the length of a board, and a cubit and a half full be the breadth of one board.

17 Two tenons fball there be in one board,fet in order one against another: thus fhalt thou make for all the boards of the tabernacle.

18 And thou shalt make the boards for the tabernacle, twenty boards on the fouth-fide, fouth-ward.

19 And thou fhalt make forty fockets of filver under the twenty boards: two fockets under one board for his two tenons, and two fockets under another board for his two tenons.

20 And for the fecond fide of the tabernacle on the north-fide, there fall be twenty boards,

21 And their forty fockets of filver: two fockets under one board, and two fockets under another board.

22 And for the fides of the tabernacle) weft-ward, thou shalt make fix boards. 23 And two boards fhalt thou make for the corners of the tabernacle in the two fides.

24 And they fhall be coupled together beneath, and they fhall be coupled together above the head of it unto one ring: thus fhall it be for them both; they fhall be for the two corners.

25 And they fhall be eight boards, and their fockets of filver, fixteen fockets: two fockets under one board, and two fockets under another board.

26 And thou fhalt make barsof fhittim-wood: five for the boards of the one fide of the tabernacle,

27 And five bars for the boards of the other fide of the tabernacle, and five bars for the boards of the fide of the tabern cle for the two fides weft-ward.

The altar of burnt-offering.

Exodus.

28 And the middle bar in the mids of the boards fhall reach from end to end. 29 And thou fhalt overlay the boards with gold, and make their rings of gold for places for the bars: and thou fhalt overlay the bars with gold.

30 And thou fhalt rear up the tabernacle according to the fashion thereof, which was fhewed thee in the mount.

31 And thou fhalt make a vail of blue, and purple, and fcarlet, and fine twined linen of cunning work: with cherubims fhall it be made.

32 And thou fhalt hang it upon four pillars of fhittim-wood, overlaid with gold: their hooks fhall be of gold, upon the four fockets of filver.

33 And thou shalt hang up the vail under the taches, that thou mayft bring in thither within the vail, the ark of the teftimony: and the vail fhall divide unto you, between the holy place and the moft holy.

34 And thou shalt put the mercy-feat upon the ark of the teftimony, in the moft holy place.

35 And thou fhalt fet the table without the vail, and the candlestick over againft the table on the fide of the tabernacle toward the fouth and thou fhalt put the table on the north-fide.

36 And thou shalt make an hanging for the door of the tent, of blue, and purple, and fcarlet, and fine twined linen, wrought with needle-work.

37 And thou fhalt make for the hanging, five pillars of fhittim-wood, and overlay them with gold, and their hooks Shall be of gold and thou fhalt caft five fockets of brass for them.

CHA P. XXVII. The altar of burnt offering, with the veffels. 9 The court of the tabernacle. 20 The oyl for the lamp.

Nd fhalt an altar of

The court of the tabernacle. 5 And thou fhalt put it under the compafs of the altar beneath, that the net may be even to the midft of the altar.

6 And thou fhalt make ftaves for the altar, ftaves of fhittim-wood, and overlay them with brass.

7 And the ftaves fhall be put into the rings, and the ftaves fhall be upon the two fides of the altar to bear it.

8 Hollow with boards fhalt thou make it: as it was fhewed thee in the mount, fo fhall they make it.

9And thou shalt make the court of the tabernacle for the fouth-fide, fouthward: there fball be hangings for the court of fine twined linen of an hundred cubits long, for one fide.

10 And the twenty pillars thereof, and their twenty fockets fhall be of brass: the hooks of the pillars, and their fillets fball be of filver.

II And likewife for the north-fide in length, there fhall be hangings of an hundred cubits long, and his twenty pillars, & their twenty lockets of brafs: the hooks of the pillars, and their fillets of filver.

12 And for the breadth of the court, on the weft-fide, fhall be hangings of fifty cubits: their pillars ten, and their fockets ten.

13 And the breadth of the court on the caft-fide, caft-ward, shall be fifty cubits.

14 The hangings of one fide of the gate fhall be fifteen cubits: their pillars three, and their fockets three.

15 And on the other fide fball be hangings, fifteen cubits: their pillars three, and their fockets three.

16 And for the gate of the court, Shall be an hanging of twenty cubits, of blue, and purple, and fearlet, and fine twined linen, wrought with needlework: and their pillars fhall be four, and their fockets four.

And thought makes long and five court fall be filleres wound about the

cubits broad: the altar hall be four-hooks fhall be of filver, and their fockets fquare, and the height thereof fhall be of brafs. three cubits.

2 And thou fhalt make the horns of it upon the four corners thereof: his horns fhall be of the fame: and thou shalt overlay it with brass.

3 And thou fhalt make his pans to receive his afhes, and his fhovels, and his bafons, and his flesh-hooks, and his firepans: all the veffels thereof thou fhalt make of brafs.

4 And thou shalt make for it a grate of net-work of brafs; and upon the net halt thou make four brafen rings in the or corners thereof.

18 The length of the court fhall be an hundred cubits, and the breadth fifty every where, and the height five cubits of fine twined linen, and their fockets of

brass.

19 All the veffels of the tabernacle in all the service thereof, and all the pins thereof, and all the pins of the court jball be of brass.

20 And thou fhalt command the children of Ifrael, that they bring thee pure oyl-olive beaten, for the light, to caufe the lamp to burn always. 21 In

21 In the tabernacle of the congregation without the vail, which is before the teftimony, Aaron and his fons fhall order it from evening to morning before the LORD: it shall be a ftatute for ever unto their generations, on the behalf of the children of Ifrael.

CHAP. XXVIII.

1 Aaron and his fons are fet apart for the priests office. 6 The ephod. 30 The Urim and Thummim.

brother, and his fons with him, from among the children of Ifrael, that he may minifter unto me in the priests office, even Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar, Aarons fons.

2 And thou fhalt make holy garments for Aaron thy brother, for glory and for beauty.

3 And thou fhalt speak unto all that are wife-hearted, whom I have filled with the fpirit of wisdom,that they may make Aarons garments to confecrate him, that he may minifter unto me in the priefts office.

4 And these are the garments which they fhall make; a breaft-plate, and an ephod, and a robe, and a broidered coat, a mitre,and a girdle: and they fhall make holy garments for Aaron thy brother, and his fons, that he may minifter unto me in the priests office.

5. And they shall take gold, and blue, and purple, and fearlet, and fine linen. And they fhall make the ephod of gold, of blue, and of purple, of carlet, and fine twined linen, wich cunning work.

7It fhall have the two fhoulder-pieces thereof joyned at the two edges thereof; and fo it fhall be joyned together.

8 And the curious girdle of the ephod which is upon it, fhall be of the fame, according to the work thereof; even of gold, of blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine twined linen.

9 And thou shalt take two onyxftones, and grave on them the names of the children of Ifrael:

10 Six of their names on one ftone, and the other fix names of the reft on the other ftone according to their birth.

11 With the work of an engraver in ftone, like the engravings of a fignet, fhalt thou engrave the two ftones, with the names of the children of Ifrael: thou fhalt make them to be fet in ouches of gold.

12. And thou shalt put the two ftones upon the fhoulders of the ephod, for

ftones of memorial unto the children of Ifrael. And Aaron fhall bear their names before the LORD, upon his two fhoulders for a memorial.

13¶And thou shalt make ouches of gold;

14 And two chains of pure gold at the ends of wreathen work fhalt thou make them, and faften the wreathen chains to the ouches.

15 And thou fhalt make the breaft

after the work of the ephod thou shalt make it ; of gold, of blue, and of purple, and of fcarlet, and of fine twined linen fhalt thou make it.

16 Four-fquare it fhall be being doubled; a fpan fhall be the length thereof, and a ipan fhall be the breadth thereof.

17 And thou fhalt ferin it fettings of ftones, even four rows of ftones: the first row fall be a fardius, a topaz, and a carbuncle: this shall be the first row.

18 And the fecond row fhall be an emeraud, a fapphire, and a diamond. 19 And the third row a ligure, an agate, and an amethyst.

20 And the fourth row, a beryl, and an onyx, and a jafper: they fhall be fet in gold in their enclofings.

21 And the ftones fhall be with the names of the children of Ifrael, twelve, according to their names; like the engravings of a fignet, every one with his name fhall they be according to the twelve tribes.

22 And thou shalt make upon the breaft-plate chains at the ends, wreachen-work, of pure gold.

23 And thou halt make upon the breaft-plate two rings of gold, and fialt put the two rings on the two ends of the breaft-plate.

24 And thou fhalt put the two wreathen chains of gold in the two rings which are on the ends of the breaft-plate.

25 And the other two ends of the two wreathen chains thou shalt faften in the two ouches, and put them on the fhoulder-pieces of the ephod before it.

26 And thou shalt make two rings of gold, and thou shalt put them upon the two ends of the breaft-plate, in the border thereof, which is in the fide of the ephod inward.

27 And two other rings of gold thou fhalt make, and fhalt put them on the two fides of the ephod, underneath towards the fore-part thereof, over againft the other coupling thereof, above the cu rious girdle of the ephod.
