Chap. xi.

Fowls clean and unclean. Creeping things unclean. thing, which is in the waters; they shall 29 Thefe alfo fhall be unclean unto be an abomination unto you. you among the creeping things that 11 They fhall be even an abomination creep upon the earth the weafel and unto you ye fhall not eat of their flefh, the moufe, and the tortoife after his but you fhall have their carcafes in abo--kind, mination.

12 Whatfoever hath no fins nor fcales in the waters, that shall be an abomination unto you.

13 And thefe are they which ye fhall have in abomination among the fowls, they fhall not be eaten, they are an abomination: the eagle, and the offifrage, and the ofpray,

14 And the vulture, and the kite, after his kind:

15 Every raven after his kind : 16 And the owl, and the night-hauk, and the cuckow, and the hauk, after his kind,

17 And the little owl, and the cormorant, and the great owl,

18 And the fwan, and the pelican, and the gier-eagle,

19 And the ftork, the heron after her kind, and the lapwing, and the bat. 20 All fowls that creep, going upon all four, fhall be an abomination unto you.

21 Yet thefe may ye eat of every flying creeping thing that goeth upon all four, which have legs above their feet, to leap withal upon the earth:

22 Even thefe of them ye may eat: the locuft after his kind, and the baldlocuft after his kind, and the beetle after his kind, and the grafhopper after his kind.

23 But all other flying creeping things, which have four feet, ball be an abomination unto you.

24 And for thefe ye fhall be unclean: whofoever toucheth the carcafe of them, fhall be unclean until the even.

25 And whofoever beareth ought of the carcafe of them, fhall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the even.

26 The sarcafes of every beaft which divideth the hoof, and is not clovenfooted, nor cheweth the cud, are unclean unto you: every one that toucheth them, fhall be unclean.

27 And whatsoever goeth upon his paws, among all manner of beafts, that go on all four, thofe are unclean unto you whofo toucheth their carcafe, Thall be unclean until the even.

28 And he that beareth the carcafe of them, fhall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the even; they are unclean unto you,

30 And the ferret, and the chameleon, and the lizard, and the fnail, and the mole.

31 These are unclean to you among all that creep: whofoever doth touch them when they be dead, fhall be unclean until the even.

32 And upon whatfoever any of them, when they are dead, doth fall, it fhall be unclean; whether it be any veffel of wood, or raiment, or skin, or fack, whatfoever veffel it be, wherein any work is done, it must be put into water, and it fhall be unclean until the even; fo it fhall be cleanfed.

33 And every earthen veffel, whereinto any of them falleth, whatfoever is in it fhall be unclean; and ye fhall break

it.

34 Of all meat which may be eaten, that on which fuch water cometh, shall be unclean: and all drink that may be drunk in every fuch vessel, fhall be unclean.

35 And every thing, whereupon any part of their carcafe falleth, fhall be unclean; whether it be oven, or ranges for pots, they fhall be broken down: for they are unclean, and fhall be unclean unto you.

36 Nevertheless, a fountain or pit, wherein there is plenty of water, fhall be clean: but that which toucheth their carcafe, fhall be unclean.

37 And if any part of their carcafe fall upon any fowing-feed which is to be fown; it fhall be clean.

38 But if any water be put upon the feed, and any part of their carcafe fall thereon ; it shall be unclean unto you.

39 And if any beaft of which ye may eat, die; he that toucheth the carcafe thereof, fhall be unclean until the even.

40 And he that eateth of the carcafe of it, fhall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the even: he alfo that beareth the carcafe of it, fhall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the even.

41 And every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth, fhall be an abomination it fhall not be eaten.

The purification of women. Creeping things that creep upon the earth; them ye fhall not eat, for they are an abomination.

43 Ye fhall not make your felves abominable with any creeping thing that creepeth, neither hall ye make your felves unclean with them, that ye fhould be defiled thereby.

44 For I am the LORD your God: ye

ye fhall be holy; for I am holy: neither fhall ye defile your felves with any manner of creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

45 For I am the LORD that bringeth you up out of the land of Egypt, to be your God: ye shall therefore be holy, for I am holy.

46 This is the law of the beafts, and of the fowl, and of every living creature that moveth in the waters, and of every creature that creepeth upon the earch:

47 To make a difference between the unclean and the clean, and between the beaft that may be eaten and the beaft that may not be eaten.

CHAP. XII.

Tokens of the leprafie.

8 And if the be not able to bring lamb, then the fhall bring two turtles,or two young pigeons; the one for the burnt-offering, and the other for a fin-offering: and the prieft fhall make an atonement for her,and fhe fhall be clean. CHA P. XIII.

Tokens to difcern the leprofie.

Nd the LORD fpake unto Moses and the Loppa

2 When a man fhall have in the skin of his flesh, a rifing, a fcab, or bright fpot, and it be in the skin of his fiefh like the plague of leprofie; then he fhall be brought unto Aaron the priest, or unto one of his fons the priests.

3 And the priest fhall look on the plague in the skin of the flesh : and when the hair in the plague is turned white, and the plague in fight be deeper than the skin of his flesh; it is a plague of leprofie; and the prieft fhall look on him, and pronounce him unclean.

4 If the bright fpot be white in the skin of his flesh, and in fight be not deeper than the skin, and the hair thereof be not turned white; then the prieft fhall fhut up him that hath the

faying,

2 Speak unto the children of Ifrael, faying, If a woman have conceived feed, and born a man-child: then the fhall be unclean feven days; according to the days of the feparation for her infirmity fhall fhe be unclean.

3 And in the eighth day, the flesh of his fore-skin fhall be circumcifed.

4 And the fhall then continue in the blood of her purifying three and thirty days: fhe fhall touch no hallowed thing, nor come into the fanctuary, until the days of her purifying be fulfilled.

5 But if the bear a maid-child, then fhe fhall be unclean two weeks, as in her feparation and fhe fhall continue in the blood of her purifying chreefcore and fix days.

6 And when the days of her purifying are fulfilled, for a fon, or for a daughter; fhe fhall bring a lamb of the first year for a burnt-offering, and a young pigeon, or a turtle-dove for a fin-offering, unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, unto the prieft:

7 Who fhall offer it before the LORD, and make an atonement for her, and fhe fhall be cleanfed from the iffue of her blood. This is the law for her that h born a male or a female.

5 And the priest fhall look on him the feventh day: and behold, if the plague in his fight be ata ftay, and the plague fpread not in the skin; then the priest fhall fhut him up feven days more.

6 And the pricft fhall look on him again the feventh day: and behold, if the plague be fomewhat dark, and the plague fpread not in the skin; the priest thall pronounce him clean: it is but a fcab: and he fhall wash his clothes, and be clean.

7 But if the fcab fpread much abroad in the skin, after that he hath been feen of the prieft for his cleanfing; he fhall be feen of the priest again.

8 And if the pricft fee, that behold, the fcab spreadeth in the skin; then the prieft fhall pronounce him unclean: it is a leprofie.

9¶When the plague of leprofie is in a man, then he shall be brought unto the priest:

10 And the prieft fhall fee him and behold, if the rifing be white in the skin, and it have turned the hair white, and there be quick raw flesh in the rifing;

11 It is an old leprofie in the skin of his flesh, and the prieft fhall pronounce him unclean, and fhall not shut him up: for he is unclean.

to difcern the leprose. 26 But if the prieft look on it, and behold, there be no white hair on the bright fpot, and it be no lower than the other skin, but be fomewhat dark; then the prieft fhall fhut him up feven days.

Chap. xiii. 12 And ifa leprofie break out abroad in the skin, and the leprofie cover all the skin of him that hath the plague, from his head even to his foot, wherefoever the prieft looketh;

13 Then the prieft fhall confider: and behold, if the leprofie have covered all his flesh, he fhall pronounce him clean that hath the plague: it is all turned white: he is clean.

14 But when raw flesh appearech in him, he shall be unclean.

15 And the priest fhall fee the raw flefh, and pronounce him to be unclean: for the raw flesh is unclean: it is a leprofic.

16 Or if the raw flesh turn again, and be changed unto white; he fhall come unto the pricft :

17 And the prieft fhall fee him: and behold, if the plague be turned into white; then the priest fhall pronounce him clean that hath the plague: he is clean.

18 The flesh alfo, in which, even in the skin thereof, was a bile, and is healed,

19 And in the place of the bile there be a white rifing, or a bright fpot white, and fomewhat reddish, and it be fhewed to the prieft;

20 And if when the prieft feeth it, behold, it be in fight lower than the skin, and the hair thereof be turned white; the pricft fhall pronounce him unclean: it it a plague of leprofie broken out of the bile.

21 But if the priest look on it, and behold, there be no white hairs therein, and if it be not lower than the skin, but be fomewhat dark; then the prieft fhall fhut him up feven days.

22 And if it fpread much abroad in the skin, then the prieft fhall pronounce him unclean; it is a plague.

23 But if the bright fpot ftay in his place, and (pread not, it is a burning bile; and the priest shall pronounce him clean.

24Or if there be any flesh, in the skin whereof there is a hot burning, and the quick flef that burneth have a white bright fpot, fomewhat reddish, jor white;

25 Then the priest shall look upon it and behold, if the hair in the bright Spot be turned white, and it be in fight deeper than the skin; it is a leprofie broken out of the burning: wherefore the prieft fhall pronounce him unclean; it is the plague of leprofie.

27 And the pricft fhall look upon him the feventh day: and if it be spread much abroad in the skin, then the pricft fhall pronounce him unclean : it is the plague of leprofie.

28 And if the bright spot ftay in his place, and fpread not in the skin, but it be fomewhat dark; it is a rifing of the burning, and the prieft shall pronounce him clean: for it is an inflammation of the burning.

29 If a man or woman hath a plague upon the head or the beard;

30 Then the prieft fhall fee the plague: and behold, if it be in fight deeper than the skin, and there be in it a yellow thin hair; then the prieft fhall pronounce him unclean: it is a dry scall, even a le profie apon the head or beard.

31 And if the priest look on the plague of the fcall, and behold, it be not in fight deeper than the skin, and that there is no black hair in it; then the prieft fhall fhut up him that hath the plague of the fcall, feven days.

32 And in the feventh day the prieft fhall look on the plague: and behold, if the fcall fpread not, and there be in it no yellow hair, and the fcall be not in fight deeper than the skin;

33 He fhall be fhaven, but the fcall' fhall he not thave: and the prieft fhall fhut up him that hath the scall, seven days more.

34 And in the feventh day the priefe fhall look on the fcall and behold, it the fcall be not spread in the skin, nor be in fight deeper than the skin; then the pricft fhall pronounce him clean: and he fhall wash his clothes, and be clean.

35 But if the fcall fpread much in the skin after his cleanfing;

36 Then the priest shall look on him :: and behold, if the fcall be spread in the skin, the prieft fhall not feek for yellow hair; he is unclean.

37 But if the fcall be in his fight at a ftay, and that there is black hair grown up therein; the fcall is healed, he is clean: and the prieft fhall pronounce him clean.

38 If a man alfo or a woman have in the skin of their flesh bright fpots even white bright spots;

39 Then the prieft fhall look :

behold, if the bright spots in the skin of their flesh be darkish white; it is a freckled fpot that groweth in the skin; he is clean.

40 And the man whofe hair is fallen off his head, he is bald: yet is he clean. 41 And he that hath his hair fallen off from the part of his head toward his face, he is forehead-bald: yer is he clean.

42 And if there be in the bald head, or bald forehead, a white reddifh fore; it is a leprofie fprung up in his bald head, or his bald forehead.

43 Then the prieft fhall look upon it: and behold, if the rifing of the fore be white reddifh in his bald head, or in his bald forehead, as the leprofie appeareth in the skin of the flesh;

44 He is a leprous man, he is unclean: the prieft fhall pronounce him utterly unclean, his plague is in his head.

45 And the leper in whom the plague is, his clothes fhall be rent, and his head bare, and he fhall put a covering upon his upper lip, and fhall cry, Unclean, unclean.

46 All the days wherein the plague Shall be in him, he fhall be defiled; he s unclean: he fhall dwell alone, without the camp fall his habitation be.

47 The garment alfo that the plague of leprofie is in, whether it be a woollen garment, or a linen garment,

48 Whether it be in the warp, or woof, of linen or of woollen, whether an a skin, or in any thing made of skin: 49 And if the plague be greenish or

reddish in the garment, or in the skin,

either in the warp, or in the woof, or in any thing of skin; it is a plague of leprofie, and fhall be fhewed unto the prieft.

50 And the priest fhall look upon the plague, and fhut up it that hath the plague, feven days.

51 And he fhall look on the plague on the feventh day if the plague be spread in the garment, either in the warp, or in the woof, or in a skin, or in any work that is made of skin; the plague is a fretting leprofie; it is unclean.

52 He thall therefore burn that garment, whether warp of woof, in woollen or in linen, or any thing of skin, wherein the plague is: for it is a fretting leprofie; it fhall be burnt in the fire.

53 And if the prieft fhall look, and behold, the plague be not fpread in the garment, either in the warp, or in the f, or in any thing of skin ;

54 Then the priest fhall command that they wash the thing wherein the plague is, and he fhall fhut it up feven days more.

55 And the prieft fhall look on the plague after that it is washed: and be hold, if the plague have not changed his colour, and the plague be not fpread; it is unclean, thou fhalt burn it in the fire; it is fret inward, whether it be bare within or without.

56 And if the prieft look, and behold, the plague be fomewhat dark after the wafhing of it; then he fhall rend it out of the garment, or out of the skin, or out of the warp, or out of the woof.

57 And if it appear ftill in the gar ment, either in the warp, or in the woof, or in any thing of skin; it is a spreading plague: thou shalt burn that wherein the plague is, with fire.

58 And the garment, either warp or woof, or whatfoever thing of skin it be, which thou fhalt wash, if the plague be departed from them, then it fhall be wafhed the second time, and fhall be clean.

59 This is the law of the plague of leprofie in a garment of woollen or linen, either in the warp or woof, or any thing of skins, to pronounce it clean, or to pronounce it unclean.

CHAP. XIV.

1 The rites and facrifices in cleansing of the leper. 33 The figns of leprofie in an house. 48 The cleansing of that houfe.

ANd the LORD spake unto Moses, 2 This fhall be the law of the leper, in the day of his cleaning: He fhall be brought unto the priest:

3 And the priest fhall go forth out of the camp; and the priest fhall look, and behold, if the plague of leprofie be healed in the leper;

Then fhall the priest command to take for him that is to be cleansed, two birds alive, and clean, and cedar-wood, and fcarlet, and hyffop.

5 And the prieft fhall command chat one of the birds be killed in an earthen veffel over running water.

6 As for the living bird, he fhall take it, and the cedar-wood,and the fcarlet, and the hyffop, and fhall dip them and the living bird, in the blood of the bird that was killed over the running water.

7 And he shall sprinkle upon him that is to be cleansed from the leprofie,feven, times, and shall pronounce him clean

8 And he that is to be cleanfed fhall wafh his clothes, and fhave off all his hair, and wash himself in water, that he may be clean: and after that he fhall come into the camp, and fhall tarry abroad our of his tent feven days.

9 But it fhall be on the feventh day, that he fhall fhave all his hairoff his head and his beard and his eye-brows, even all his hair he fhall fhave off: and he fhall wafh his clothes, alfo he fhall wash his flefh in water, and he fhall be clean,

10 And on the eighth day he fhall take two he-lambs without blemish, and one ew-lamb of the first year, without blemifh, and three tenth-deals of fine flour for a meat-offering, mingled with oyl, and one log of oyl.

11 And the prieft that maketh him clean, fhall prefent the man that is to be made clean, and those things before the LORD, at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation:

12 And the prieft fhall take one he lamb, and offer him for a trefpafs-offering, and the log of oyl, and wave them for a wave-offering before the LORD,

13 And he fhall flay the lamb in the place where he fhall kill the fin-offering, and the burnt offering, in the holy place for as the fin-offering is the pricfts, fo is the trefpafs offering: it is moft holy.

14 And the prieft fhall take fome of the blood of the trefpafs-offering, and the priest fhall put it upon the tip of the right ear of him that is to be cleanfed, and upon the thumb of his right hand, and upon the great toe of his right foot.

15 And the pricft fhall take fome of the log of oyl, and pour it into the palm of his own left hand:

16 And the priest fhall dip his right finger in the oyl that is in his left hand, and fhall fprinkle of the oyl with his finger, feven times before the LORD.

17 And of the reft of the oyl that is in his hand, fhall the prieft put upon the tip of the right ear of him that is to be cleanfed, and upon the thumb of his right hand, and upon the great toe of his right foot, upon the blood of the trefpafs-offering.

18 And the remnant of the oyl that in the priests hand, he fhall pour upon the head of him that is to be cleanfed: and the prieft fhall make an atonement for him before the LORD.

19 And the prieft thall offer the finoffering, and make an atonement for him that is to be cleanfed from his uncleannefs, and afterward he fhall kill the burnt-offering.

20 And the prieft fhall offer the burntoffering, and the meat-offering upon the altar: and the prieft fhall make an atonement for him, and he fhall be clean.

21 And if he be poor, and cannot get fo much; then he fhall take one lamb for a trefpafs-offering to be waved, to make atonement for him, and one tenthdeal of fine flour mingled with oyl, for a meat-offering, and a log of oyl":"

22 And two turtle-doves, or two young pigeons, fuch as he is able to get; and the one fhall be a fin-offering, and the other a burnt-offering.

23 And he fhall bring them on the eighth day, for his cleaning, unto the prieft, unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, before the Lord.

24 And the priest shall take the lamb of the trefpafs-offering, and the log of oyl, and the prieft fhall wave them for a wave-offering before the LORD.

25 And he fhall kill the lamb of the trefpafs-offering.and the pricft fhall take fome of the blood of the trefpafs-offering, and put it upon the tip of the right ear of him that is to be cleanfed, and upon the thumb of his right hand, and upon the great toe of his righ: foot.

26 And the prieft fhall pour of the oyl into the palm of his own left hand.

27 And the prieft fhall fprinkle with his right finger, Some of the oyl that is in his left hand, feven times before the LORD.

28 And the prieft fhall put of the oyl that is in his hand, upon the tip of the right ear of him that is to be cleanfed, and upon the thumb of his right hand, and upon the great toe of his right foot upon the place of the blood of the tref= pass-offering.

29 And the reft of the oyl that is in the pricfts hand, he fhall put upon the head of him that is to be cleanfed, to make an atonement for him before the LORD.

30 And he fhall offer the one of the turtle-doves, or of the young pigeons, fuch as he can get :

31 Even fuch as he is able to get, the one for a fin-offering, and the other for a burnt-offering, with the meat-offering. And the prieft fhall make an atonement for him that is to be cleansed, before the LORD.
