GENERAL ORDERS, HEADQUARTERS OF THE ARMY,

Washington, January 4, 1898. I. In accordance with the requirements of the Small-Arms Firing Regulations, the accompanying tables, exhibiting the results of the rifle, carbine, and revolver firing of the Army for the target year 1897, and the comparative proficiency attained by the different organizations, are published for the information of the Army.

II. Troop “E,” 2d Cavalry, having, with the increment allowed for the carbine in paragraph 515a of the Firing Regulations (General Orders, No. 36, of 1897, A. G. Office), the highest average per cent for the year, is awarded the Nevada Trophy. The Trophy, now at Headquarters of the Army, will be forwarded by express to the Commanding Officer of the troop named. BY COMMAND OF MAJOR GENERAL MILES:
