O Lord, to thee will I cry; for the fire hath devoured the pastures of the wilderness, and the flame hath burned all the trees of the field: the beasts of the field cry also unto thee: for the rivers of waters are dried up. Joel i. 19, 20. When heaven is shut up, and there is no rain, because they have sinned against thee; if they pray toward 3. that we may receive the fruits of the earth to our comfort, and to thy honour; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. 1. O Al this place, and confess thy name, and turn from their sin, when thou afflictest them; then hear thou in heaven, and give rain upon thy land. 1 Kings viii. 35, 36. Elias prayed, and the heaven_gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit. James v. 17, 18. God giveth rain upon the earth, and sendeth waters upon the fields. Job v. 8. 10. Who covereth the heaven with clouds, who prepareth rain for the earth. Psal. cxlvii. 8. Thou visitest the earth, and waterest it; thou greatly enrichest it with the river of God, which is full of water; thou preparest them corn, when thou hast so provided for it; thou waterest the ridges thereof abundantly; thou makest it soft with showers. Psal. lxv. 9, 10. 3. Give us this day our daily bread. Matt. vi. 11. He watereth the hills from his chambers; the earth is satisfied with the fruit of thy works: he causeth the grass to grow for the cattle, and herb for the service of man; that he may bring forth food out of the earth; and wine that maketh glad the heart of man, and oil to make his face to shine, and bread which strengtheneth man's heart. Psal. civ. 13, 14, 15. The Lord shall open unto thee his good treasure, the heaven to give the rain unto thy land in his season. Deut. xxviii. 12. Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God. 1 Cor. x. 31. Therefore they shall come and sing in the height of Zion, and shall flow together to the goodness of the Lord, for wheat, and for wine, and for oil, and for the young of the flock and of the herd; and their soul shall be as a watered garden. For Fair Weather. 1. And God saw that the wickedness of man was mighty Lord great in the earth, and that every imagination of the sin of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually: God, who for man didst once drown all the world, except eight persons, 2. and af terward of thy great mercy didst promise never to de stroy it so again; 3. Gen. vii. 17. 19. 23. Once the long-suffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water. 1 Peter iii. 20. 2. I will establish my covenant with you; neither shall all flesh be cut off any more by the waters of a flood; neither shall there any more be a flood to destroy the earth; and I will remember my covenant, which is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and the waters shall no more become a flood to destroy all flesh : and the bow shall be in the cloud, and I will look upon it, that I may remember the everlasting covenant which I have established between me and all flesh that is upon the earth. This is as the waters of Noah unto me, for as I have sworn that the waters of Noah should no more go over the earth, so have I sworn that I would not be wroth with thee, nor rebuke thee.
