And now, O Lord my God, thou hast made thy servant king instead of David my father and I am but a little child: I know not how to go out or come in. Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and bad. 1 Kings iii. 7. 9. It is he that giveth salvation unto kings: who delivereth David his servant from the hurtful sword. Rid me, and deliver me from the hand of strange children. That our sons may be as plants grown up in their youth; that our daughters may be as corner stones, polished after the similitude of a palace: that our garners may be full, affording all manner of store: that our sheep may bring forth thousands and ten thousands in our streets: that our oxen may be strong to labour; that there be no breaking in, nor going out; that there be no complaining in our streets. Then sat Solomon upon the throne of David his father; and his kingdom was established greatly. The king said moreover, King Solomon shall be blessed, and the throne of David shall be established before the Lord for ever. Wait on the Lord, and keep his way, and he shall exalt thee to inherit the land. Mark the perfect man, and behold the upright: for the end of that man is peace. Psal. xxxvii. 23. 28. 34. 37. I have also given thee that which thou hast not asked, both riches, and honour. thou wilt walk in my ways, to keep my statutes and my commandments, as thy father David did walk, then I will lengthen thy days. 1 Kings iii. 13, 14.
