And the Lord spake unto you out of the midst of the fire, and he declared unto you his covenant, which he commanded you to perform, even ten commandments; and he wrote them upon two tables of stone. Deut. iv. 12, 13. 2, 3. And he gave unto Moses, when he had made an end of communing with him upon mount Sinai, two tables of testimony, tables of stone, written with the finger of God. Exod. xxxi. 18. He wrote upon the tables the words of the covenant, the ten commandments. Exod. xxxiv. 28. The weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith. Matt. xxiii. 23. Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets. Matt. xxii. 37 to 40. Continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them. 2 Tim. iii. 14. The Christian's Duty towards God. 4, 5. As they went forth, Jehoshaphat stood and said, Hear me, O Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem: Believe in the Lord your God, so shall towards God, ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall Is to believe ye prosper. 2 Chron. xx. 20. Luke xii. 5. upon him, to honour his holy Name and his and Word; to serve him life. So did not I, because of the fear of God. Neh. v. 15. Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably, with reverence and godly fear. Heb. xii. 28. Take diligent heed to love the Lord your God, and to keep his commandments, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul. Joshua xxii. 5. And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind. Luke x. 27.
