CLXXXII. The Christian's Belief or Creed.

I Believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of Heaven and Earth: And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord, Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, Born of the Virgin Mary, Suffered under Pontius Pilate, Was crucified, dead, and buried, He descended into Heil; The third day he rose again from the dead, He ascended into Heaven, And sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; From thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Ghost; The holy Catholick Church: the Communion of Saints; The Forgiveness of sins; The Resurrection of the body; And the Life everlasting. Amen.

That the offering up of the Gentiles might be acceptable, being sanctified by the Holy Ghost. Rom. xv. 16.

CLXXXIII. A Summary of Christian Duties.

1. And God spake all these words, saying, I am the Lord thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. Exod. xx. 1, 2. And the Lord spake unto you out of the midst of the fire, and he declared unto you his covenant, which he commanded you to perform, even ten commandments; and he wrote them upon two tables of stone. Deut. iv. 12, 13.

2, 3. And he gave unto Moses, when he had made an end of communing with him upon mount Sinai, two tables of testimony, tables of stone, written with the finger of God. Exod. xxxi. 18. He wrote upon the tables the words of the covenant, the ten commandments. Exod. xxxiv. 28. The weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith. Matt. xxiii. 23. Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets. Matt. xxii. 37 to 40. Continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them. 2 Tim. iii. 14.

Heb. xii. 28. Take diligent heed to love the Lord your God, and to keep his commandments, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul. Joshua xxii. 5. And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind. Luke x. 27. This is the love of God, that we keep his commandments. 1 John v. 3. If any man love not the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be Anathema Maran-atha. 1 Cor. xvi. 22.
