Large folio, contemporary half morocco, lettered on both back and side. Lond. 1829 UNIQUE COLLECTION of these fine caricatures, published by McLean and others. It was evidently made by some contem porary enthusiast, who supported the Crown, as the caricatures are all anti-Catholic. George the Fourth and his opposition to the question of the day, the Catholic Emancipation Bill, was the originator of these clever specimens of their kind, which portray with great freedom many of the prominent characters of the day, among them being George the Fourth, the Duke of Wellington and many others. Not the least interesting is A VERY RARE CARICATURE OF GRIMALDI, the famous clown, entitled "Series of Sketches of the principal performers in the Strand new Pantomime, called The Pope's Eye, or Tricks and Changes."
