He shall justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities.

2 We were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, but with the precious blood of Christ, who was fore-ordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for us, who by him do believe in God. For we are bought with a price.

"Christ our high-priest, not by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood, entered in once into the holy place; having offered himself without spot to God, and obtained eternal redemption for us. Neither hath he often suffered since the foundation of the world; but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself. And as it is appointed unto men once to die, so Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many.

4

Every other priest standeth daily ministering, and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins: but we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. And by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.

5 This Jesus being the captain of our salvation, and having tasted death for every man, was made perfect through sufferings; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; and deliver them who through fear of death were all their life-time subject to bondage.

it from him. And hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us.

HE ROSE AGAIN FOR OUR JUSTIFICATION.

1 The same Christ who died for our sins was buried, and rose again the third day according to the Scriptures, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit.

2 God raised him up, and showed him openly unto witnesses chosen before of God; who said none other things than those which the prophets and Moses did should come; say that Christ should suffer, and that he should be the first that should rise from the dead.

3

Though he was crucified through weakness, yet he lived by the power of God; who loosed the pains of death, because it was not possible that he should be holden of it.

4

As he had power to lay down his life, so he had power to take it again.

> Christ being raised from the dead, dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him.

6

He was declared to be the Son of God with power, by the resurrection from the dead.

7 Thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead; that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all

nations.

" He was delivered for our offences, and raised again for our justification: and therefore have we a

lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.

1

If Christ be not risen, then there is no resurrection of the dead, then is the preaching of the Apostles vain; and our faith is also vain, we are yet in our sins: but now is Christ risen from the dead, that we should walk in newness of life. For in that he died, he died unto sin once; but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God. Likewise, let us reckon ourselves also to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.

HE ASCENDED INTO HEAVEN, AND INTERCEDES FOR US AT THE RIGHT-HAND OF GOD.

2 He that came down from heaven to do the will of the Father which sent him, when he had finished the work which he gave him to do on the earth, and had showed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, left the world again, and went to the Father; and being received up into heaven, he sits on the right-hand of God; whom the heavens must receive, until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began.

3

When the Son of God had by himself purged our sins, he sat down on the right-hand of the majesty on high.

4

* He being received up into glory, and set at the right-hand of God in the heavenly places, maketh intercession for us.

'He hath ascended on high; he hath led captivity captive; he hath received gifts for men ; yea, for the rebellious also, that the Lord God might dwell among them.

" He bare the sins of many, and maketh intercession for the transgressors.

3 If any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous; who being made an high-priest for ever, and being an unchangeable priesthood, is able to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them. Our Redeemer is strong; he shall thoroughly plead our

cause.

* No man cometh unto the Father, but by his Son Jesus, who is gone to prepare a place for us in his Father's house: and he will come again and receive us unto himself, that where he is, there we may be also.

WHICH WAY THE HOLY GHOST CONTRIBUTES TO OUR REDEMPTION.

THE HOLY GHOST IS GOD.

5 This is the eternal Spirit; the Spirit of God and of Christ; sent down from heaven from the Father.

The Lord with whom Moses spake, is that Spirit who is also called the Lord Jehovah.

What, know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost, which is in you ?

3

Whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come.

* Mighty signs and wonders were wrought by the power of the Spirit of God.

The Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God, which no man knoweth but the Spirit of God.

THE EXTRAORDINARY OPERATIONS OF THE HOLY

6

GHOST.

Jesus was conceived of the Holy Ghost: and when he was baptized, the heavens were opened unto him, and the Spirit of God descended like a dove, and lighted upon him; and he was full of the Holy Ghost; and the Spirit of the Lord being upon him, he preached the Gospel of peace and salvation.

7

'He cast out devils by the Spirit of God; and through the eternal Spirit he offered himself without spot to God.

After Jesus, through the Holy Ghost, had given commandments unto the apostles whom he had chosen, and was taken up from them into heaven, he sent them another Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, even the Spirit of truth; who was to abide with them for ever, to guide them into all truth, to
