JUNE 1. I am the Lord, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed. iii. 6.

Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever. Heb. xiii. S.

Reflect on the eternity and immutability of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Pray to him who is both able and willing to save you.

JUNE 2. Mine enemies speak against me; and they that lay wait for my soul take counsel together, saying, God hath forsaken him; persecute and take him; for there is none to deliver him. Psalm lxxi. 10, 11.

If ye suffer for righteousness' sake, happy are ye: and be not afraid of their terror, neither be troubled; but sanctify the Lord God in your hearts. 1 Peter iii. 14, 15.

Consider how many are the enemies of the true Christian.

Pray to God for help, in order that you may overcome them all, &c.

JUNE 3. Be not thou afraid when one is made rich, when the glory of his house is increased; for when he dieth he shall carry nothing away: his glory shall not descend after him. Psalm xlix. 16, 17.

But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. And having food and raiment let us be therewith content. 1 Tim. vi. 6, 7, 8.

Meditate on the insufficiency of riches to procure happiness, either in this world or in the world to come.

Pray for a heart truly devoted to the service of God, which will cause contentment here, and happiness hereafter.

JUNE 4. Obey my voice, and I will be your God, and ye shall be my people: and walk ye in all the ways that I have commanded you, that it may be well unto you. Jer. vii. 23.

See then that ve walk cucumspectly, not as

fools, but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Eph. v. 15, 16.

Reflect on the advantages of circumspection, obedience, &c.

Pray for a cautious, circumspect conduct, &c.

JUNE 5. Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the Lord. Hosea vi. 3.

For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but thenshall I know even as also I am known. 1 Cor. xiii. 12.

Meditate on man's imperfect knowledge at present, when compared with that which he shall possess hereafter.

Pray for the knowledge of God's truth in this world, and in the world to come life everlasting.

JUNE 6. Who is this that cometh from Edom, with dyed garments from Bozrah? this that is glorious in his apparel, travelling in the greatness of his strength? I that speak in righteousness, mighty to save. Isaiah lxiii. 1.

In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins: who is the image of the invisible God, the first-born of every creature for by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible

and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: and he is before all things, and by him all things consist. Col. i. 14, 15, 16, 17.

Reflect on the divinity of Jesus Christ.

Pray to him for salvation who is mighty to save.

JUNE 7. Save me, O God, by thy name, and -judge me by thy strength. Hear my prayer, O God; give ear to the words of my mouth. Psalm liv. 1, 2.

Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months. And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit. James v. 17, 18.

Meditate on the effects of prayer, &c.
Pray earnestly and in faith.

JUNE 8. Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the Lord, and depart from evil. Prov. iii. 7. Be not wise in your own conceits. Rom. xii. 16. Meditate on the danger and folly of self-conceit. Pray for meekness and humility.

JUNE 9. The Lord is nigh unto all them that

call upon him, to all that call upon him in truth. Psalm cxlv. 18.

In every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. Phil. iv, 6

Reflect on the way in which you are to call upon God, &c.

Pray with a true and thankful heart.

JUNE 10. Woe unto them that rise up early in the morning, that they may follow strong drink ; that continue until night, till wine inflame them. Isaiah v. 11.

Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. 1 Cor. vi. 9, 10.

Reflect on the sin of drunkenness, and its attendant vices.

Pray for soberness, chastity, &c.

JUNE 11. Mark the perfect man, and behold the upright for the end of that man is peace. Psalm xxxvii. 37.
