With copious references to the writings of Emanuel Swedenborg. Due to the expressed wishes of some ministers and friends, Reverend MacLagan was induced to attempt and carry to completion a work similar to his "The Two Books of Kings Explained" on the books of Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy. These were selected for the purpose, in order that the internal or spiritual sense of all the books of the Pentateuch might be before the public, and might show clearly the inner significance of all the laws of Moses.
