go and do as thou hast said: but make me thereof a little cake first, and bring it unto me, and after make for thee and for thy son. For thus saith the Lord God of Israel, The barrel of meal shall not waste, neither shall the cruse of oil fail, until the day that the Lord sendeth rain upon the earth. And she went and did according to the saying of Elijah: and she, and he, and her house, did eat many days. And the barrel of meal wasted not, neither did the cruse of oil fail. 1 K. xvii. 13, 14, 15, 16.

The Widow's Oil. Elisha said unto her, What shall I do for thee? tell me, what hast thou in the house? And she said, Thine hand-maid hath not any thing in the house, save a pot of oil. Then he said, Go, borrow thee vessels abroad of all thy neighbours, even empty vessels; borrow not a few. And when thou art come in, thou shalt shut the door upon thee, and upon thy sons, and shalt pour out into all those vessels, and thou shalt set aside that which is full. So she went from him, and shut the door upon her and upon her sons, who brought the vessels to her; and she poured out. And it came to pass, when the vessels were full, that she said unto her son, Bring me yet a vessel. And he said unto her, There is not a vessel more. And the oil stayed. 2 K. iv. 2, 3, 4, 5, 6.

The Man, and Child with a Dumb Spirit. Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth. And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief. When Jesus saw that the people came running together, he rebuked the foul spirit, saying unto him, Thou dumb and deaf spirit, I charge thee, come out of him, and enter no more into him. And the spirit cried, and rent him sore, and came out of him. Mar. ix. 23, 24, 25, 26.

The Two Blind Men. When Jesus departed thence, two blind men followed him, crying, and saying, Thou son of David, have mercy on us. And when he was come into the house, the blind men came to him: and Jesus saith unto them, Believe ye that I am able to do this? They said unto him, Yea, Lord. Then touched he their eyes, saying, According to your faith, be it unto you. nd their eyes were opened. Matt. ix. 27, 28, 29, 30. The Nobleman. Then said Jesus unto him, Except ye

see signs and wonders, ye will not believe. The Nobleman saith unto him, Sir, come down, ere my child die. Jesus saith unto him, Go thy way; thy son liveth. And the man believed the word that Jesus had spoken unto him. Jo. iv. 48, 49, 50.

The Man of Lystra. And there sat a certain man at Lystra, impotent in his feet, being a cripple from his mother's womb, who never had walked. The same heard Paul speak who steadfastly beholding him, and perceiving that he had faith to be healed, said with a loud voice, Stand upright on thy feet. And he leaped and walked. Acts xiv. 8, 9, 10.

The Man with the Palsy. They brought to him a man sick of the palsy, lying on a bed: and Jesus, seeing their faith, said unto the sick of the palsy, Son, be of good cheer; thy sins be forgiven thee. Matt. ix. 2.

The Woman with an Issue of Blood. Behold, a woman, which was diseased with an issue of blood twelve years, came behind him, and touched the hem of his garment. For she said within herself, If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole. But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole. Mat. ix. 20, 21, 22.

The Woman that was a Sinner. Behold, a woman in the city, which was a sinner, when she knew that Jesus sat at meat in the Pharisee's house, brought an alabasterbox of ointment, And stood at his feet behind him weeping, and began to wash his feet with tears, and did wipe them with the hairs of her head, and kissed his feet, and annointed them with the ointment. Lu. vii. 37, 38. And he turned to the woman, and said unto Simon, Seest thou this woman? I entered into thine house, thou gavest me no water for my feet: but she hath washed my feet with tears, and wiped them with the hairs of her head. Lu. vii. 44.

The Centurion. When Jesus was entered into Capernaum, there came unto him a centurion, beseeching him, And saying, Lord, my servant lieth at home sick of the palsy, grievously tormented. And Jesus saith unto him, I will come and heal him. The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come

under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed. Mat. viii. 5, 6, 7, 8. And Jesus said unto the centurion, Go thy way; and as thou hast believed, so be it done unto thee. Mat. viii. 13.

The Ruler of the Synagogue. And behold, there came a man named Jairus, and he was a ruler of the synagogue: and he fell down at Jesus' feet, and besought him that he would come into his house: For he had one only daughter, about twelve years of age, and she lay a dying. But as he went, the people thronged him. Lu. viii. 41, 42. While he yet spake, there cometh one from the ruler of the synagogue's house, saying to him, Thy daughter is dead; trouble not the Master. But when Jesus heard it, he answered him, saying, Fear not: believe only, and she shall be made whole. Lu. xviii. 49, 50.

The Leper. And behold, there came a leper and worshipped him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean. And Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed. Matt. viii. 2, 3.

The Faith of Sara. Through faith also Sara herself received strength to conceive seed, and was delivered of a child when she was past age, because she judged him faithful who had promised. Heb. xi. 11.

Syrophenician Woman. For a certain woman, whose young daughter had an unclean spirit, heard of him, and came and fell at his feet: (The woman was a Greek, a Syrophenician by nation;) and she besought him that he would cast forth the devil out of her daughter. But Jesus said unto her, Let the children first be filled for it is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it unto the dogs. And she answered and said unto him, Yes, Lord: yet the dogs under the table eat of the children's crumbs. And he said unto her, For this saying, gothy way; the devil is gone out of thy daughter. And when she was come to her house, she found the devil gone out, and her daughter laid upon the bed. Mar. vii. 25, 26, 27, 28, 29.

The Lame Man At The Gate Of The Temple. And a certain man, lame from his mother's womb, was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms of them that entered into

the temple; Who, seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple, asked an alms. And Peter fastening his eyes upon him with John, said, Look on us. And he gave heed unto them, expecting to receive something of them. Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give 1 thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk. Acts iii. 2, 3, 4, 5, 6. And his name, through faith in his name, hath made this man strong, whom ye see and know: yea, the faith which is by him hath given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all. Acts iii. 16.

The Faith Of Noah. By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith. Heb. xi. 7.

The Faith Of The Children of Israel. By faith they passed through the Red Sea as by dry land: which the Egyptians assaying to do were drowned. By faith the walls of Jericho fell down, after they were compassed about seven days. Heb. xi. 29, 30.

Fight of. Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. 1 Ti.vi 12. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. 2 Tim. iv. 7. I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air. 1 Cor. ix. 26. Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith: who, for the joy that was set before him, endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. Heb. xii. 2.

Full of. And the saying pleased the whole multitude: and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Ghost. Acts vi. 5. For he was a good man, and full of the Holy Ghost, and of faith: and much people was added unto the Lord. Acts xi. 24. For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother's womb. Luk. i. 15. Then Peter, filled with the Holy Ghost, said unto them, Ye rulers of the people, and elders of Israel. Acts iv. 8.

How obtained. For John came unto you in the way of righteousness, and ye believed him not: but the publicans and the harlots believed him: and ye, when ye had seen it, repented not afterward, that ye might believe him. Mat. xxi. 32. And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the Gospel. Mar. i. 15. By whom we have received grace and apostleship, for obedience to the faith among all nations, for his name. Ro. i. 5. And the apostles said unto the Lord, Increase our faith. Lu. xvii. 5.

Is specific and self-appropriating. If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. Jas. i. 5. And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. Jo. xiv. 13. If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. Jo. xv. 7. Thus saith the Lord God; I will yet for this be inquired of by the house of Israel, to do it for them; I will increase them with men like a flock. Ezek. xxxvi. 37. Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them. Mar. xi. 24.

In Jesus-Gradations of-But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name. Jo. i. 12. And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me, shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me, shall never thirst. Jo. vi. 35. He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall low rivers of living water. Jo. vii. 38. I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. Jo. x. 10. I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them as thou hast loved me. Jo. xvii. 23.

Is not vision. Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Heb. xi. 1. For we are saved by hope. But hope that is seen, is not hope for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for? et if we hope for that we see not, then do we with
