Page 13 - BEHOLD, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! That to buy and sell human beings, and to hold and treat them as merchandise; or to treat servants, free or bond, in any manner inconsistent with the fact, that they are intelligent and voluntary beings, made in the image of God, is a violation of the principles of the word of God; and should be treated, by all the churches of our Lord Jesus Christ, as an immorality, inconsistent with a profession of the Christian religion:...

" And we would express our deep regret, that, after all the light which, in the course of providence, has been thrown on this subject by physicians, jurists, philanthropists and Christians, any sober man, especially any member of a Christian church, should be found engaged...
