A FINE SPECIMEN OF A VERY RARE PAIR OF AUTOGRAPHS. Bound in with Confirmation, is the Deed of this same property, by Thomas Wandell to

Coonraet Ten Eyck. Double folio, Jan. 4, 1672-3. This instrument is witnessed by NICHOLAS BAYARD, SECRETARY OF THE PROVINCE, after the re-conquest of New York by the Dutch in 1672. Under the Second English régime, when Dongan was Governor, Bayard was Mayor of New York, AND DREW UP THE DONGAN CHARTER THAT WAS GRANTED IN 1685. THESE TWO PIECES FORM A VERY INTERESTING TRIO OF RARE NEW YORK SIGNATURES.

A SUPERLATIVE COPY OF THE FIRST EDITION IN ENGLISH OF THE PRAYER BOOK OF THE REFORMED DUTCH CHURCH in the City of New York. The Psalms were rendered into English verse by Francis Hopkinson, and are accompanied by printed music, THE FIRST MUSIC TO BE PRINTED FROM TYPE, IN AMERICA, the type being brought from Amsterdam for the purpose.

The prefatory note, by Joannes Ritzema, states that owing to the decline of the Dutch language in New York, it was found necessary to adopt the English language for the Church services. THE VOLUME IS COMPLETE, WITH THE HEIDELBERG CATECHISM." On the title is faintly written, "Kate [] Tenbrook's Book.'

Inserted is a fine portrait of General James Wolfe, from the Grand Magazine, also, a View of the Siege of Quebec, by Cook. This piece is not mentioned by Dionne, Gagnon, nor Sabin, nor was it in the Bourinot or Learmont collections; furthermore, extended search has failed to locate the sale of a single copy.

FINE COPY OF THE EXTREMELY RARE FIRST EDITION. Parkman remarks in his "History of Pontiac" "I am not aware of the existence of any copy besides my own and that in the Library of the British Museum," which while rather an exaggerated statement, indicates what an uncommon work it really is.
