The bugle's blast, and the drum's quick Had led our patriot sires;

HE above is a fac simile of a banner painted by a Charleston artist (Alexander) and presented by him to the South Carolina Convention before the firing on Fort Sumter.

The banner is now in the possession of a physician of Boston, Mass.
