mercifully regard all the Judges of our land, and vouchsafe them a right spirit, and full knowledge to guide and regulate them in all their reasonings and sentences. May they continually remember the very responsible nature of the situations in which thou hast placed them; and that of all their decisions, and motives therein, they shall have to give a full account unto thee the Great Judge of all, in that eventful day when thou wilt examine and decide the eternal state of all mankind.

Congregation.-O God, be merciful unto all our Judges, and guide them in the way of righteousness.

Minister. O God, the Author of all true Rule and Order, direct and strengthen all in authority amongst us, that they may fully execute the laws of their country, and may we be subject unto them for conscience' sake.

Congregation.-O Lord, bless all in authority amongst us.

Minister. Our Father in heaven, mercifully and compassionately behold all who stand in the capacity of Parents in our land. O Lord God, make them to see, and well to meditate the weighty charge thou hast entrusted to them in their children. Speak aloud to their understandings and to their consciences, and impress them with thy truth, that their children live or die in this world and in the next according to the manner in which they fulfil their trust in regard to them. O Lord, guide them to a right understanding of the first commandment with promise, and may they bring up their children in the habit of honouring and obeying their parents on earth, that they may thus lead them to honour and obey thee the Great Parent of all. And, O God, grant unto their Children, a spirit of loving affection, of obedience, and docility, towards their Parents, that so it may be well with them, and that they may live long upon the earth to glorify thee, and that at length they may be received through our

Lord Jesus Christ into thy kingdom in heaven, there to live and reign with thee for ever and ever.

Congregation.-O Lord God, have mercy on all of us here who are Parents, and on all Parents in our land, that we may glorify thee in the bringing up of our Children, in all holy principles, habits, and practices and, O let thy blessing rest on all our Children, that they may be thine, now and evermore.

Minister. O Lord our heavenly Father, and our Great Instructor, graciously look on all the Instructors of our Children in this city and empire. O God, give unto all of them thy Spirit, that they may nourish and extend the good work begun in our offspring by Parental Instruction, and may they indeed prove to the tender minds placed under their care, a temporal and an eternal blessing.

Congregation.-O our God, bless all the Instructors of our Children, that they may be to them a present and everlasting blessing.

Minister. O Lord our Saviour, who art our Master in heaven, and who didst condescend to be a Servant upon earth, mercifully regard all among us who are Masters, and all who are Servants; and teach both to glorify thy name, by seeking humbly to imitate Thee in these relationships.

Congregation.-O Lord, bless with thy Spirit, all Masters, and all Servants.

Minister.-Merciful Father, bless, we pray thee, this City [Town, Village, Parish,] in which we dwell. Bless the Magistrates and all classes and conditions of its inhabitants. May the fear and the love of God be the predominating motive of all, in all their actions; and may the hope of salvation through Jesus Christ be experienced by all, and be realized in the day of the Lord Jesus.And in seeking thy kingdom first according to thy commandment, may all needful blessings be added unto us, and may this place and

all our labours and industry prosper and flourish if it be thy holy will.

Congregation-Merciful Father, bless this City, and prosper us in thy kingdom, and in all thou knowest to be good for us.

Minister.-God of mercy and compassion, graciously regard all the Poor in our land, and supply their wants; have pity on all the Afflicted among us, and mercifully relieve their distresses.

Congregation.-O Lord, pity all the Poor, and the Afflicted, and in thy mercy bring them relief.

Minister.-O Lord, be pleased, we beseech thee, to send instruction to all who are living in Ignorance among us, and stir up the Slothful, and reform the Vicious; and grant that Knowledge, Industry, Righteousness, and Godliness may prevail over our land.

Congregation. Mercifully, O God, turn all the Ignorant, the Slothful, and the Vicious, to the knowledge and practice of thy holy will.

Minister.-All Gracious Father, bless the Church of Jesus Christ sojourning in the world, and which he hath purchased with his own blood. O Lord, may it indeed be sanctified and cleansed with the washing of water by the word, and be presented to him at his coming, a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but entirely holy and without blemish.

Congregation.--O Lord, bless thy Church, edify it, and increase it, and make it speedily to fill the whole earth.

Minister.-Our Father in heaven, thou hast been pleased to give thy people an interest in each other's prayers: hear, we beseech thee, the supplications of thy church over all the earth for our spiritual and eternal welfare.

Congregation.-Amen.

Minister.-O Lord, have mercy upon the world: send thy word to all nations; and let the Gospel ere long be preached to every creature under heaven.

Congregation. Amen.

Minister.-O Lord, bless all Missionaries sent forth to Foreign Nations. Pour out thy Spirit on thy Servants, strengthen them for their arduous and blessed work, and crown their labours with thy abundant blessing. O Lord of the harvest, send labourers many into thy harvest, and speedily.

Congregation.-Amen.

Minister. O Lord, the God of all comfort and consolation, most graciously bless us each and all in our relative and various duties to each other as the family and flock of Jesus Christ; and may we so act in all things as to be approved of by our Blessed Redeemer at his coming in his kingdom and glory.

Congregation.-Lord God Almighty, mercifully look upon us all in this our time of trial, and bless and glorify us in the day of Christ.

Minister. And now, O heavenly Father, very graciously hear these our supplications: and condescend in thy mercy and love to be with us in all our services on the present occasion, and on every occasion when we meet in thy name. Let thy blessing which maketh rich rest upon us, in and through Jesus Christ, our Lord and Saviour: amen.

Congregation.-Amen, and amen.

[All standing.]

Minister.-Let us again sing to the praise and the glory of God.-[the hymn to be named, and the two first lines pronounced as before.]

1. Thee will I love, my strength and tower,
Thee will I love, my joy and crown;
Thee will I love with all my power,
In all my works, and Thee alone!
Thee will I love, till that pure fire
Fill my whole soul with chaste desire.

2. In darkness willingly I strayed;

I sought thee, yet from thee I roved;
For wide my wandering thoughts were spread,
Thy creatures more than thee I loved;
And now, if more at length I see,

'Tis through thy light, and comes from thee.

3. I thank Thee, uncreated Sun,

That thy bright beams on me have shined:
I thank Thee, who hast overthrown
My foes, and healed my wounded mind;
I thank Thee, whose enlivening voice
Bids my freed heart in Thee rejoice.

4. Give to my eyes refreshing tears,
Give to my heart chaste, hallowed fires;
Give to my soul, with filial fears,
The love that all heaven's host inspires;
That all my powers with all their might,
In thy sole glory may unite.

5. Thee will I love, my Joy, my Crown!
The will I love, my Lord, my God!
Thee will I love, though all may frown,
And thorns and briars perplex my road;
Yea, when my flesh and heart decay,
Thee shall I love in endless day.

[Still standing.]

Minister. In the view of Reading and Hearing God's Holy Word,-Let us Pray.

[All kneel.]

Minister. Almighty God, we come into thy pre
