ing with the sixth in the present volume, had been preached before Dr. Krummacher's book was announced, he felt himself too far embarked in the undertaking to recede; more especially, as the German work does not proceed beyond the subject of the sixth discourse in the present volume.

The Author, in committing these lectures to the press, would express a sincere and earnest petition, that they may be instrumental in winning for his beloved Sovereign and country, the aid of those “chariots and horsemen of Israel," the sincere prayers of a holy and religious people; and that upon every individual reader, a large, yea, "a double portion" of the prophet's spirit, may descend, enlightening, sanctifying, comforting, and bringing "every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ."
