Thou and the world must part, My trembling spirit owns it just, 2 3 4 Ye tempting sweets, forbear: My love ye must not share: 'Tis bitter pain, 'tis cruel smart; But ah! thou must consent, my heart! Ye fair enchanting throng, But must I part with all? To soothe, and heal the smarting wound? 5 Oh 6 yes, there is a balm, A kind Physician there, My fevered mind to calm, To bid me not despair. Aid me, dear Saviour! set me free, And I will all resign to Thee. Oh may I feel Thy worth; No vanity of earth, With Thee, my Lord, compare : Now bid all worldly joys depart, And reign supremely in my heart. 600. "Not my will, but thine be done." Luke xxii. 42. C.
