PREFATORY NOTE SOME details about this work are given in the Arabic postscript. It is hoped that an English translation will soon follow, where a more lengthy account of it will be given. The rotographs whence the text has been copied were procured by the late Mr. H. F. Amedroz, who was for some years a member of the Council of the R.A.S. It was the writer's original intention to include this text among those collected in The Eclipse of the 'Abbasid Caliphate, to which it frequently serves as a supplement ; as this was not found practicable, the R.A.S. was requested to let it appear among its publications, and kindly consented. Full references to its contents have, however, been given in the Index to the former work, and these together with the Indices appended to the edition. should render it easy to find any of the anecdotes. 40055 ORIENTAL TRANSLATION FUND NEW SERIES VOL.
