Vice-President of the Irish Conference.-On the suggestion of the Irish Conference, to avoid the difficulty that might arise in the signing of the Journal of the Irish Conference, in the event of the death of the Vice-President of the Irish Conference and the absence of all the Delegates from the British Conference, the Conference resolves to add the name of the surviving Ex-Vice-President to the other names in the delegation.

English Supernumeraries in Ireland.-The Conference resolves that Supernumeraries of the British Conference resident in Ireland shall report to the Synods in the area of which they reside in Ireland, and that Supernumeraries of the Irish Conference resident in England shall similarly report to the English Synods.

Methodist Law, and other Matters.-1. The Conference receives the Report of the Committee (see Appendix XVII.).

2. The Conference refers to the Committee again the

question of the Preamble to the Stations, with a view to define more clearly the position of a Probationer whose name is placed first in any Circuit, whether with or without a number.

3. The Conference refers to the Committee the consideration of the Standing Order relating to the numbering of Circuits.

4. The Conference refers to the Committee the whole question of filling up vacancies in the Legal Hundred.

5. The Conference refers to the Committee the method of dealing with a Minister for whom no Circuit can be found by the Stationing Committee.

Method of Selecting Candidates for the Ministry.-I. The Conference receives the Report of the Committee.

2. The Conference is of opinion that greater care should be taken in the nomination of Candidates. The Conference, therefore, directs that no Candidate shall be nominated until he has been heard by the Superintendent, and by his colleagues. Full opportunity should also be given to the Members of the Quarterly Meeting to hear the Candidate before the nomination is made.

3. The Conference resolves that three Ministers shall in future hear the sermon to be preached after the May Synod,

and that in making their report to the July Committee they shall suggest a mark to be given for the sermon.

4. The Conference directs the Staffs and Discipline Committees of the Colleges to regard all students as in reality on trial, and faithfully to report on each Student, at least every year, as to his fitness for our work.

Question of Church Membership.-1. The Conference receives the Report. (See Appendix XXXI.)

2. The Conference adopts the lucid and timely statement to accompany the Rules of Society.

3. The Conference heartily approves in general the recommendations as to the privileges and obligations of Church Membership, the various adaptations of the Class-meeting and the reconstitution of the Society Meeting.

4. The Conference again expresses its conviction that the time has come for a more definite statement as to what constitutes membership in the Wesleyan Methodist Church. In view, however, of the grave issues which the question involves, the Conference resolves to take no further action until the mind of our people generally has been ascertained. The Conference, therefore, without pronouncing on the other recommendations contained in the Report of the Committee, directs that it be submitted to the Synods for their judgment.

5. The Conference appoints the following Committee to summarize the recommendations of the Synods, and to report to the next Conference: The Rev. J. ScoTT LIDGETT, M.A., President of the Conference; JOHN S. SIMON, Ex-President; JOHN HORNABROOK, Secretary;

Rev. G. ARMSTRONG BENNETTS, B.A., is the Convener.

N.B.-The only Provisional Legislation comprised in the above Resolution is in the clause which relates to the Reconstitution of the Society Meeting. The Synods will first of

all pronounce on this proposal (see Appendix XXXI., section B, sub-sections (a) and (b), and then make such suggestions on the Report as a whole, as they deem fit.

Status of Ministers in the West Indies in Relation to the British Conference.-The Conference resolves that Ministers wishing to be transferred to the work at home should submit their application to the Committee appointed by the Conference to consider applications from Ministers of other Churches and other Conferences, and that they should submit themselves to such examination as that Committee may determine.

Corrupt Literature. The Conference calls the serious attention of parents and Sunday School workers to the pernicious influence among young people of a morally corrupt press and literature, and urges that all practical steps be taken to minimise this growing evil.

Federated Malay States.-The Conference directs attention to the terrible evils resulting from the drink trade among the natives of the Federated Malay States, where there exists what is tantamount to free trade in alcoholic liquors; the Conference respectfully urges His Majesty's Government to take immediate steps to deal with this evil.

Welsh Assembly.-The Conference approves the revised constitution, with the exception of the section which makes the President and Secretary of the Assembly ex-officio members of the Conference. The Conference awaits the report of the Committee appointed by the Representative Session to consider this question. (See Appendix XXII.)

Pastoral Oversight of Wesleyans in County Asylums and Civil Prisons.-I. The Conference receives the Report (see Appendix XXVIII.).

2. The Conference directs that the Pastoral oversight of Wesleyans in County Asylums shall be regarded as part of the duty of the Ministers in those Circuits in which County Asylums are situated.
