Constitution, so far as they pertain to the Representative Session, with the exception of the proviso which makes the President and Secretary of the Assembly ex-officio members of the Conference.

2. The Conference refers the last suggestion to the Committee appointed to consider the relation of the Treasurers of certain Departments to the Conference.

3. As the Revised Constitution has for the most part already been submitted to the Synods, the Conference does not deem it necessary to send it down to the Synods again.

Sanitation of Ministers' Houses.-The Conference resolves that in future the sanitary inspection of Ministers' houses and the forwarding to the Chairman of a certificate of the good sanitary condition of the house at every change of Ministers shall be compulsory.

Bequest of the late George Holmes.-The Conference nominates and appoints the Minister who is appointed as Secretary to the office of Connexional Funds from time to time to receive the dividends accruing under the Order of the High Court of Justice-Chancery Division, dated July 3, 1908, and thereupon to pay the same in two equal shares, half to the Wesleyan Missionary Society, and the other half to the Wesleyan Home Mission Fund.

Extension of the Term.-The Conference postpones the Report of the Committee on this subject until the next Conference.

The Rev. J. DAVISON BROWN is appointed as Joint Secretary with the President.

3. The Conference resolves that of the Representatives, as nearly one half as possible shall be elected by the next May Synods, the proportion to be allocated to each Synod by the Committee. In this allocation Ireland is to be taken into

account.

Order and Form.-The Conference resolves that the following question shall be inserted in the Order and Form of Business for the May District Synod:

"Is there any Circuit in which, owing to the growth of the population or other causes, it is desirable that steps should be taken forthwith to secure a suitable site for Church purposes?"

Departmental Re-appointments.-The Conference resolves that in all cases in which a Minister has served a term in a Connexional office, if he be proposed for re-election, special reasons shall be assigned to the Conference, as in the case of a Minister whom it is desired to retain in a Circuit beyond a period of three years.

The Opium Traffic.-The Conference rejoices in the declaration of the House of Commons that the Opium Traffic is morally indefensible, and in the commencement by the Government of reduction in the Indian output. The Conference regards

the strenuous action of China in combating the evil within its own borders as a challenge to the morality of our Christian nation, and urges in the strongest way that the Government should unconditionally, and at the earliest moment possible, put an entire end to what Parliament has rightly declared to be morally indefensible. The Conference assures the Government of its strong support in any action which would lead to the speedy total abolition of the opium traffic. The Conference resolves that this question be referred to the September Synods for the expression of their opinion.

Crowle Bequest.-1. The Conference receives the Report of the Committee.

2. The Conference re-appoints the Committee to deal with any questions that may arise during the year, with full power to make arrangements with the Executors as they may deem advisable in the interest of the Temperance work of the Conference.

Sunday School Synod Committee. The Conference resolves that whilst the Sunday School Synod Committee has as its primary charge the care of the Sunday Schools in the

District, it shall, as heretofore, take the oversight of Day School affairs.

Sunday School Returns.-In order that the Sunday School Returns may be compiled with greater care, and may be presented to a Teachers' Meeting or to a Committee before being sent to the District Education Secretary, the Conference directs that the schedules be sent to the Circuits at an earlier date.
